Costumes for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party

FOr the first time, my dh and I are going to this party for my bday. Both of us are big Halloween people. We'll be there from 10/21-10/24. We love to dress up and of course I want to dress up for the party. My dh is just concerned that we will be the only ones. From reading this board, however, it seems like most people do. Can you tell me what the percentages of people who dress up? Also, do the costumes seem to stick to Disney themes or are they on other things as well?

Plenty of people dress up -- yes, adults, too...and Disney or non-Disney is fine!! Enjoy!

We went 2 years ago. My DD 4 wore a grass skirt, DD 2 wore a kimono, and DS 10 months, wore a kilt -- they were "It's a Small World" dolls. We had tons of fun!!

Yes lots of people are in costume. Yes alot are Disney themed, but I think anything as long as it is in good taste is acceptable. There will be kids there.

Wear whatever you like, but I will say that I think that they asked on the tickets for specific things for the kiddies (like masks that dont block their line of site, etc...safety issues). I saw TONS of families dressed up. Our boys were Batman and Superman (so non-Disney) and got TONS of compliments anyway. Hubby and I are not big Halloween people, but had bought Halloween t-shrits at Target for $5 each before going to get into the holiday mood with the kids

We were worried too. In fact, when we pulled up, no one around us was dressed up, and we kind of freaked out. I was a doctor, and dh a patient. dd Cinderella. After we got it, there were LOTS of people dressed up and far more elaborately. I would go all out if you want to. You won't feel silly! Plus if you're costumed, they'll even let YOU trick or treat.

We found that most groups without kids didn't wear costumes, but our group without kids did - and were very glad we did! (Although it was a bit intimidating walking in while all the non-party goers were leaving). Make sure that your costume is designed for getting in and out of Space Mountain, though! It would be a shame to have no line, but then not be able to ride because of how things stick out off of your costume!

I actually felt out of place because I wasn't dressed up There were loads of adults there (w/out kids) in costumes. I'm thinking about wearing a costume next year!

We went last year and had a WONDERFUL time. Hopefully we'll be going again this year!

Last year DH, DS, DS & I went as a Christmas theme. DH=santa on holiday, Me=Mrs. Claus complete w/a tray of cookies and milk. DS7=Reindeer and DS2=elf. We got so many compliments and attention and had a wonderful time!

I was worried that most people would be in Disney theme costumes and that we'd look out of place but that didn't seem to be the case at all. There was a mix of everything!

You will never forgive yourself if you don't dress up!

Last year was my first time at MNSSHP. I went with my mom and sister...all of us are 30 and up...and we all dressed up. My mom was a flapper, my sister was little red riding hood, and I was Harry Potter. We had so much fun! I saw all kinds of costumes, Disney and non-Disney. To be honest, I enjoyed the originality of the non-Disney costumes better.

I am planning a trip to MNSSHP with just my DH this Sept/October. Had so much fun the first time, can't wait to do it again.

Lots of people do and lots don't too, so you can enjoy whatever you decide. I thought I had read somewhere that no masks were allowed on adults.

For a low-key, easy as a pie to pack costume, DH and I did the $5 Target t-shirts too. I wore a Minnie hat to accessorize, of course!

DD was all decked out as Bastet, the ancient Egyptian goddess of cats. (We are homeschooling this year and were reading about ancient Egypt, which has turned into a great interest of hers.) She got a lot of comments on her very original costume.

Whatever you choose, elaborate costume, simple pseudo-costume or no costume, you'll have lots of company and lots of fun. Enjoy!

Last year we had five adults and we all dressed up --- I was a witch (used my little black dress and a hat -- DH and one friends were Red Sox Players (jersey and hat - they had just won the WS) - the characters kept on pointing to their jerseys... and my other friend wore a football jersey and hat - (Dad wore a Red Sox T-shrit so I was calling him the Red Sox Fan - not really a costume) --- We had a blast -

we are going abck this year and probally doing MMC shirts and wearing ears - all easy to make and not too much to worry about with the weather...

And there were many more adults dressed up - It was a lot of fun! I would totally recommend it.

Knowing how hot it will probably be September 30, we're going with Incredibles t-shirts (the red one with the I symbol) and black shorts. Since we only have 2 boys, I guess we'll pretend "Violet" is invisible.

Looking forward to this night (and excited that if we REALLY like it we can probably purchase tickets at our resort for Sunday Oct 2 too).

make sure that your costumes are simple so that they can get wet and you can go on all of the rides without a problem. Also, try to avoid long sleeved costumes because it will probably be pretty warm.

My 1st trip to WDW ever! We are attending MNSSHP on 10/6, 7 adults & 4 "PRINCESSES", we have Belle, Cinderella, Ariel & Snow White. The 7 adults are "Snow Whites" 7 dwarfs. We just have t-shirts, with the dwarf patch, I'm playing Dopey. So I'll have the Dopey patch on the front & on the back it says:

2005 MNSSHP is anything but "DOPEY"

Party tickets: $160.00
Dinner at MK: $60.00
Disney with my family: PRICELESS

than there is another picture of Dopey on the bottom of the writing.

So if you see "Dopey" in a red shirt on 10/6, that's me!

DD, DH and I are going on Oct. 11. It will be our first time, so we are reading the boards and taking notes. DD is going as a 50's Sock Hop Girl, DH and I are still undecided if we are going to dress up. Can't wait, only 12 days left!!!

I went last year without kids, and YES - I dressed up. I would have regretted it big time if I didn't. I felt stupid on my way there, but once you enter the gates you really feel 'at home'. I would say about 30% of the adults were dressed up, and about 70% of the kids.

It was a lot of fun, I'll be going this year with my father - and YES, we're both dressing up.
