Quick question - do people wear costumes at the parks on Halloween? We are not going to the NSSHP at night but kinda want to show off our family of 5 Toy Story 2 costumes. Any recommendations as to whether MK or Epcot has lighter attendance on Halloween day? Would love some advice!

MK will have lower attendance during the day because of the sold out party that night. We've spent a lot of Halloweens there and it's been relatively empty (2 years ago we walked onto Peter Pan 3x at 11am!), but I will say that I've never seen anyone in a Halloween costume during the normal operating hours.

Although it is basically "against WDW rules," you will still see some costumes in the park during the day on Halloween.

The CM's at the entrance may balk if you look "too close" to an actual
character.
They will caution guests NOT to pose for other guests' photos or engage them
"as" a character.
That can become troublesome in a hurry.

This. We went to MNSSHP on the 16th and entered right at 4pm, while the park was still pretty busy with non-party goers. I was dressed as Snow White, got pulled aside at the entrance, and was given the above rules - even though I was "allowed" to be in costume. I thought the CM was a overselling my costume a bit - until five different little girls asked for pictures and autographs within the first hour. Definitely be careful if your costumes are realistic, and if they are pack some back-up clothes just in case.
