Costs for single parent and child?

All the prices I have ever seen quoted are for double occupancy and then a separate fee for children. If you are a single parent, how do they handle this? Will I be forced to pay full price for my six year old because the pricing is based on double occupancy?

Yup, unfortunately they are charged full price unless there are 2 adults in the room.

First 2 people in each room pay full fare. 3rd, 4th or 5th passenger prices vary by age.

I, too, am a single mom - and I've had to pay double occupancy rates for me & my son on all of our Disney vacations. No price breaks, unfortunately.

Yup - but this is true wherever you go. I take DS lots of places and DH stays home. I am charged the full room amount (2 adults).

I thought that was probably going to be the case-but it still seems unfair to me. Paying for a resort room is understandable, but since part of the cruise expense is food, I think there should be a discount if the 2nd person is a child.

So far no one from the cruise line has asked me for my opinion yet, lol. Thanks for the replies!

I usually try to bring another adult....mom, friends and their kids etc....for our cruise I had my mom come as the 2nd adult and then my daughter was 99.00...I couldn't see pying full fare for her when I could take my mom and she would pay full fare for herself and take my 2 year old would be just 100.00!

The Big Red Boat used to offer "Single Parent" fares. I wish Disney would start that. Well my son will be 17 for our next cruise (2/03) so he's practically an adult, but It would really bug me if he were 10 or under. I guess DIsney figures they'll be inundated w/ single parents and will lose out somehow. They probablythink that families (with 2 real adults) will book 2 cabins seperately and get twice as much room.

I completely understand the need to charge for 2 adults per room. I assume they base most of their rates on the assumption of 2 people per cabin per cruise.

And remember that, while kids may not eat as much, they do require a great deal of attention. The kids club alone must cost them a fortune to run and maintain!

I paid an adult fare for my one daughter when I traveled alone with two children. Well worth the cost!

Hi, been there done that. We are doing our first cruise and I found that
with the early booking discount can offset this somewhat. The only problem
is having to wait so loooooong!!!!
