We're currently booked for 10 days mid Sept, for the 4th yr in a row. DD9 is going into 4th grade next yr, so we're considering going with the same promo (bounceback free dining) in mid August. Are the costs generally more (resort, airfare, rental car) in Aug? What about crowds and weather? We'd like to avoid the last week in August, since we'd be traveling home on Labor Day if we went then. I'm still leaning towards Sept right now...

We did late August more than several years ago. It was HOT, but no more unbearable then our humid days in Boston. I'd definitely do it again. I thought the crowds were fine we got a great deal on a rental car, but that was after rebooking and rebooking and rebooking again. I think I was under $500 for two weeks for a minivan. We used points towards an offsite hotel, so I can't add much about that. We did use Tourguide Mike for suggestions which was very helpful.

I am wondering the same thing, we will have to do mid to late august, since our daughter will be in college.

Aug and Sept in Orlando are just plain hot and humid. It is normal for a storm to come in each afternoon for a brief rain shower and then move off. Leaving you sweating!

The crowds are lower in September because the kids are back in school but it also kicks off Food and Wine and MNSSHP. Both fun events.

It is lower price rate in September and they have free dining bounce back.

All in all, the weather is about the same, hot and humid, the crowds are a bit lower in the beginning of September than August.

There is a lot of A/C but we find ourselves very very hot.

As others have said, only things not being equal are the crowds. Bit less in Sept.

Yes, a bit less crowded in September, but not as much as you think with Free Dining. If you can sneak a trip in before free dining starts mid-late August is a great time to go. We found weather to be about the same. We also found the park hours to be longer in mid-late August than September.
