Costco Vacation Packages

I have yet to find car rentals cheaper than through Costco Travel. And second driver is always included on their rentals, so that is an even greater savings. After searching around like a good little Budget Boarder, we booked our fall DL trip through Costco. Parking at our hotel is typically a separate daily charge, but that fee is waived with my package. My boys really do not care about character meals so the meal vouchers will be used for dinner at Blue Bayou. (A tip I picked up here!) I recently called to apply a large Disney gift card payment to the package and that went smoothly. They e-mailed me the confirmation with updated balance within minutes.

I don’t know when we’ll be cruising again, but I will definitely be booking through Costco for the sweet cash card! Almost always works out better than any type of OBC you could get elsewhere. Oh, and just a general Costco tip so you can earn airline/cc points on all your purchases. Buy a cash card online using your rewards credit card. It will be mailed and you will call to activate it once it arrives. The annoying thing is that you cannot reload it using a credit card, so you just have to keep repeating the process. But think about it, how much do we all spend at Costco in a year? :rotfl2:

OK, I'm going to sound really thick with these questions, but I want to make sure I understand for the future lol.

So, you were able to apply Dnsney gift cards to your Costco Vacations booked pacakge?

And, your tip about buying the cash card - do you buy the cash card through Costco and then use it to apply to the Costco Vacation package? Can you not just use your credit card to pay off the vacation?

Can you tell I've never booked anything through them lol!

Yes. When you book a Disney package through Costco, like any travel agency they are simply a pass through, you are actually booking directly with Disney. When you call the Costco Travel reservation number and choose the appropriate prompts you are patched through to Disney Travel Company, though they may answer the phone mentioning something about Costco Travel as well. Costco drives a lot of business to Disney so they are able to offer the perks and discounts that you see on the Costco Travel website. So when you call to book or make payment, you are speaking to Disney directly. I knew from this board that I could book through Costco and pay using Disney gift cards. Another tip, I paid for my little deposit on the trip with my Disney Visa and got the 6 months no interest on that, as I was booking directly with the Disney Travel Company; Costco Travel just being the pass through company.

I am sorry to have caused any confusion on the cash card thing. I mentioned ‘as a general Costco tip’, for purchasing items in the warehouse. Many people already knew that tip, but perhaps many did not! Purchasing a Costco cash card has nothing to do with booking or paying for a vacation package through them. Costco Travel takes regular old credit cards, so yes, you could just make payments on your regular rewards cards. Sorry to not be clear on that!

Thanks so much for your reply! And, your original comment probably didn't confuse anyone but me lol!

I had to read it a few times before I got that part straight myself

I just booked our second cruise through Costco. They are fantastic to work with, I have had them adjust prices and on last cruise got both Celebrity and Costco OBC. Just book RC for next year last week, guy found me a better rate.

We always use them for our cruises...usually book directly with the cruise line first and then transfer. Depending the cruise, they offer nice perks. For our last Norwegian cruise the price was discounted a few hundred more and we also got a small OBC.
