Costco Hearing Aids?

Even if you decide to purchase your aids somewhere else, get the batteries at Costco. They are significantly cheaper (WAY cheaper) and they are just as good.

Personally, I wouldn't hesitate to get hearing aids at Costco. We can't because by law in Minnesota they cannot dispense to anyone under 18. My son is 14. A single aid, through our local Children's Hospital, cost over $4000. That's absurd. Fortunately, we have good insurance. But, I can't help but feel there is a substantial, non-justified, mark up in that price.

Thank you for your replies! We definitely have a lot to learn.

Just to clarify, we did go to real audiologist at an ENT dept in a good medical facility - we just call them 'clinics' around here.

I also decided to give a call today to the audiology dept at UW Madison. She said they offer lower prices, but good service with experienced audiologists working with grad students. She said they would work to find a technology that would work within our budget. Not sure how to take that...if they actually have lower prices or will help you find a lower cost model that will work for you. She said they have lower prices, but not rock bottom...

Which led me to ask her about Costco. She basically said the same thing as the other audiologist, that quality, techniology and service would not be as good. I did find some good reviews online about Costco hearing aids.

I do understand about not skimping on quality, but at this point DH is saying forget it. He says its not worth it and if we had $6600 to spend, which we don't, he would rather get a nicer car or a boat!

Anyone have any experience with Costco, or other less expensive options?

Thanks again!

PLEASE tell him this is not an option! My MIL got a set last year (My FIL has had a set for a few years but doesn't always wear them when he should). She is amazed at how much more she is picking up that she missed in conversations before!

If you go with Costco, get the executive membership and their Amex card. You will get a combined 3% back on your purchase. :thumbsup2

My husband bought his hearing aids from Costco 4 years ago. For the first three years my husband was back at Costco every week with one hearing going out - they took turns. For 3 years he probably had them about 1 year. They even replaced them once. The biggest problem that Costco has had 6 audio persons, 3 were entirely incompetent per the 4th replacement. They are now out of warranty and they work sometimes-??? We are looking to replace them but not with Costco!!!!
