Costco...Day After Christmas?

Has anyone shopped at Costco the day after Christmas? Do they have good deals or do you have to wait longer?

Costco does not have the typical after Christmas clearance. There might be a few leftover Christmas decorations that are discounted, but don't plan on a huge sale.

Our Costco was almost completely out of Christmas merchandise last week. I think they like to try and clear it out before the holiday.

Yes, Costco is open the day after, they just don't do a huge clearance sale. If you're looking for bargains there, today is the day as what's left of their Christmas items are marked for clearance. Át our Costco that is mostly just gift baskets. Don't expect to get any deals on returned items either as the majority are returned to the manufacturers and not put on a clearance table. Merry Christmas!

I've often wondered what Costco does with their leftover merchandise since it never goes on sale and they switch merchandise every few weeks sometimes. For example, there might be a platform of knit tops that have been there for a few weeks, and then one day they replace those shirts with jackets. What did they do with all of those shirts?

I used to buy large plastic jars of salted almonds at Costco. They had pallets of them! Two days days later I went there and there were no almonds. I asked an employee and she said they no longer carried them. Where did all of those almonds go?

Every so often my Costco has a cart in the back of the store with marked-down items. I got my husband a polo shirt for $4.97 a few weeks ago on that cart. It is really random though, I don't always see it. I think they mark down items, but leave them on the shelves where they were until there are only a few left. If you come across an item ending in .97, then it is a mark down.

A lot of businesses are closed the day after Christmas this year because it is Friday, and like the day after Thanksgiving, just not worth opening.

As a family friendly business I thought Costco might be one of them that closed too.

It's a retail business. Just like all retail businesses, they were open the day after Thanksgiving, they'll be open the day after Christmas, and they'll be open the day after New Year's. None of those are holidays. Their competition is open.

I do not belong to Costco, but previous threads on these boards talked about them being closed for a lot of holidays so their employees could be home with their families. I do shop at the Walmart next to a Costco and I think they were closed for Easter this year.

Costco does close for the major holidays including Christmas, Thanksgiving, July 4th. I can't think of a single major retailer closed on the 26th. That's a huge day for returns and gift card purchases. BecAuse a lot of people will be off (including the federal government) it would be crazy not to be open.

Every retail business thinks it's worth being open the day after Thanksgiving--it's Black Friday! They're all open Dec 26th as well.

That is correct, but despite that, because Christmas is on a Thursday this year, a lot of private businesses that normally don't take the 26th off, are closed this year.

Me either. They were closed Thanksgiving, which was a holiday but a HUGE retail sales day

As am I. But that doesn't change that Boxing Day 12/26 is a holiday in Canada & the UK.
