Just in case anyone was wondering what the breakdown is, it looks like Disney is giving the summer one free meal deal a value of $18 for adult and $8 for kids. Here's the cost to upgrade to various plans:

To regular QSDP
$34.37A $13.64K

To regular DDP
$57.33A $17.64K

To DxDDP
$98.09A $31.88K

Thanks for posting this. I actually upgraded recently from the meal deal to QS plan. FWIW I was only successful upgrading online. Several CM’s over the phone said it wasn’t possible to “upgrade”. They kept changing it to rack rate plus QS plan which was a lot more costly, basically starting my package all over. Thank goodness I tried myself online and it was totally fine and at least $500 cheaper than CM’s kept telling me for family of 4.

How strange that the CMs couldn't do it; it's so simple online and just like doing any other reservation. Glad you were able to do it yourself.

We have the summer meal plan 7 nights for 2 adults ,1 10Y adult and 2 kids. To upgrade to full QS plan it will be 920.42 more when I changed it online.

Does this seem worth it? Are 2 snacks about $12 pp a day? Anyone know the current refillable mug price? Grateful for any advice you can give.

While there are some $6 snacks, we usually average the value at $5 per snack. Refillable mug is only a value to me if I'm going to use it, and we don't eat at the resort, so it's only value is a souvenir (to me). If you think you'll use it, then use that in your calculation. I think the current cost is $18.99.

Will you take advantage of the alcohol and specialty drinks? Is one of those kind of drinks a day enough for you? (You'll get one with your free meal). Can your family EASILY share QS meals which would make OOP cheaper? Do you prefer water with your meals or will you at least get a beverage for everyone? Will your 2 kids eat kid's meals or would they prefer adult meals? Same for your 10 yr old? Do you plan on doing any TS meals while you're there?

Your best bet is to answer those questions and decide what you want to do for all of your other meals and then do the math. Can you feed your family for less than $920?

Thanks for doing the math. I was considering upgrading, but I don't think it will be worth it for us.

I know this is an old post, but just wanted to verify one thing...

So the summer deal is one QS meal per person per day. Is there no way to convert that to one TS per person per day?

Instead you need to convert fully to either the QSDP, or the regular DDP at the prices listed by the OP?

Thx,
Dan

That is correct. At this time, Disney doesn't offer any just one TS meal per day type plan, so you have to upgrade to either QSDP or DDP, if you want to upgrade.
