While on our recent 3-day Wonder cruise, my dh says our waiter told him that it cost over $3 million to build the Animator's Palate dining room. DH thought that sounded really expensive, but then there is all that cool technology stuff in there. Does anybody know if this is an accuate ballpark estimate of the cost? Thanks!

JoAnn in Iowa (wishing we could eat there tonight or any of the Wonder's restaurants, for that matter)

Yes, I did that tour too! The extremely high price tag was mostly because of the cartoons! They had to pay Disney a hefty price to use all the cartoons even though they are a part of the Disney company.

Very interesting bit of info!

When we were on the Wonder, we also heard the $3 million price tag. I don't recall who told us, but at least the number is consistent.

According to the special on the Travel Channel, alot of the expense was also the technology used in creating the magic that occurs during dinner (I'm trying not to spoil it for any first-timers).

Something about black and white "sketches" and then the walls are backlit (or some other funky lighting thing...I am so NOT technical!!) which causes the "surprises" to appear.

:D
