Hi there I have a 5 year old boy who is pirate crazy, and wondered the cost of the pirate cruise & how long it lasts, I can't seem to find any information on it, and also...if any of your kids have done it, what did they think of it?
Thanks a lot :)

Are you interested in Pirates and Pals fireworks cruise or the children-only pirate cruises that are offered at the resorts?

We've done Pirates and Pals plus the kids' cruises out of GF and YC. My DS7 loved them all (he did them when he was 5 and 6 years old). He particularly liked the one that went out of YC. He liked Pirates and Pals, but it was a pretty late night for him. Definitely liked the kids'-only cruises better.

Hi, thank you both for the information, its much appreciated. The firework pirate cruise sounds fab, but I hadn't heard of that...I will try and look into it now.

The pirate adventure cruises that are for kids only are about $36.95. My son did one at 4 years old and another at 5 and had a fabulous time.

This sounds great, but what kind of boat is it? How many adults go? Have they ever lost a kid?

I only have one kid. Can't lose him. I'm sure it is safe and he'd love it, does anyone know more details than what the website says?

My kids did it last month and loved it. They are 4 and 11. There were 8 kids total and 2 or 3 adults. They make all the kids wear life jackets the whole time, and they are on a pontoon boat. I wouldn't worry about their safety at all.

My 5-year-old DD did the kids-only pirate adventure cruise out of POR last year. It was definitely worth the cost! They got the kids all set in lifejackets and pirate bandanas and then had them sail off while singing songs. DH and I had two glorious hours to ourselves, then we saw them come sailing back in, still singing songs. They paraded off the boat and into the POR lobby where there was a hidden treasure chest with goody bags for all. The CMs running it seemed so fun and amazing with children. They even let my DD bring her little plush Perry the Platypus along (she didn't want to part with him at the dock) and fitted him with his own bandana. I highly recommend this experience.

Hi, do they have a photo pass photographer with the kids? I have seen conflicting reports. Thanks!

Butting in here - for the kids adventure, were there a lot of siblings or were there singletons, too? I think my son would love it, but he's worried about going alone and not having any friends.

I'm sure the adults would watch out for this and keep everyone involved, but some assurances would be nice.

My son has done it twice by himself, first at YC when he was 4 and then at GF when he was 5. He LOVED it both times. Each time there were about 8 kids and 2CMs and while there were a few sets of siblings there were also a few single kids each time as well. I think the CM's are great about keeping everyone involved.
As for the pp concerned about safety. Each kid gets a pirate life vest before boarding and there have been 2 CMs with about 8 kids both times we went. I will say the consent form was a little scary to sign as it mentioned the possibility of death, but I felt very comfortable both times sending my kid.

It looks like you are talking more about the kids only cruise, but we did the pirates and pals fireworks cruise a couple of weeks ago and it was great! The hosts were hilarious and the kids get to meet Hook, Smee and Peter Pan. It's a great way to view wishes as well. I would highly recommend that!

My kids did this in January, and they loved it! It was one of their favorite things about the trip. They are 5, 7, and 9.

IIRC, there were a few kids on their boat without siblings. The only downside was that they wanted to just stay at the resort and play with their "treasure" (each kid gets to fill up a bag) and they bugged us the whole time we were at Epcot that afternoon to go back to the room! :)

We are a group with older teens. IS the pirate and pals cruise ok for older people or more of a kids thing?

DD did the pirates cruise from the Poly when she was 7. She and I did the Pirates and Pals wishes cruise when she was 9.

At 9 that was probably the better option, but she enjoyed the one when she was 7 so much better. I of course only have the one trip to reference :)

I know my son would like this. It just seems weird sending him off on a boat without anyone we know. It isn't something Id do IRL.

My granddaughter did the kids only pirates cruise from the Grand Floridian when she was five and not quite my granddaughter at the time (her mother and my son became engaged on the trip). So my now daughter-in-law, who we didn't know very well at the time, was nervous about the cruise as she and my granddaughter had been on their own for a few years and they were joined at the hip for a lot of things. She didn't want her only child at the time to be alone on a boat with kids she didn't know and mom not around. She calmed down very quickly after seeing how Disney handled just the loading of the boat. Each child will get a life jacket that has to be worn at all times. The child's guardian takes care of the initial fitting of the jacket and then the Cast Members on the boat (I think there were two plus the driver) check the fitting and adjust if needed. The guardian has to remain with the child until the boat pulls out. Each child is matched with a "buddy". If siblings are traveling together, that's their "buddy". If a child is alone, as my granddaughter was, they will be matched with a child of the same sex and/or age if at all possible.

A big suggestion - get back to the dock before the boat arrives at the end. Just five minutes before and have your video camera ready. You won't regret it and that's all I will say.

For the deboating, no child will be allowed off the boat unless the guardian is there with the information that was handed out when the child boarded the boat at the beginning.

After the cruise, my daughter-in-law was in love with how Disney handled everything. She was quite amazed with how seamless everything went and my granddaughter had a great time but couldn't tell us very much because it was a secret she wanted to keep with her new best friend - her pirate buddy she was matched up with!

We did Pirates and Pals in Nov and I highly recommend it. Bring your sweet tooth because the party before you leave is fun and filled with tons of goodies. It was entertaining and the perfect amount of time, not too long and not too short.
