cost of free dining

Go to the Disney website and get a quote for everything you want (resort, number of nights, number or people, type of tickets etc)...you can leave off the dining. That will give you the price of your stay with free dining.

Hello
What is the best way to get a ballpark now of what it would cost for a family of 4 with the FREE dining?

Need more information - ages of children, resort choice, type of tickets.

You could go to the WDW site and figure out the total cost of your trip WITHOUT the Dining Plan... resort, ticket type, etc. That would equal the cost of your stay, then add on what you would spend in TIPS for any Table Service meals.

Go the the disney reservation page type in your dates and pick your resort. Make sure that you have at least a one day park ticket selected. If you need more pick the ticket package that you would need. This is the total that your package would be with the free dining.
If you want to upgrade to the deluxe dining you need to add 32.00 per night per adult and 10.00 per night for a child under nine.
The way that I have been getting an approx. number to upgrade to the deluxe is to add the QSD when building my package. I know that my final total will be a little higher but it gives me a close enough idea.:thumbsup2

For 2 adults and 2 kids - it is about $1500 for a week in a value with base park tickets. Give or take a bit...

9/19-9/26
2 adults
2 kids 11,7
8 day parkhoppers
pop century standard room

$1813.02

you can save about $200 if you go with base tickets and no park hoppers

this year we are getting water parks and more instead of hoppers, and it cost same price($1813.02) we dont hop as much when we do water parks, so i think its worth saving $200

But doesn't free dining boost the hotel rates up to rack rate rather than the low season rate? If you figure it right now, it may not be at the proper prices. DH has always said we can't do a Mod during free dining since it's at the high rack rate rather than the price we could get regularly. It's not truly free, since you're paying more for the hotel...unless Disney's feeling suddenly even more generous?? :goodvibes

Rack rate is the regular rate for that season without a discount. In september, whch is value season, rack rate is 82 dollars per night at a value-standard room. What they mean buy you paying rack rate is there are no room discounts with the free dining promo, so its one or the other.

That is not true. Free Dining in Sept in Value Season. Disney does not raise the hotel rates for Free Dining. The room price is the same with or without free dining. In fact the value season is the time that you will get the lowest non-discounted room rate. So it is truly FREE dining because you are not paying more for the hotel. (that doesn't mean that you can't get a better room rate with a different discount ie. 40% PIN code..)
