My DS12 is trying to 'budget' his allowance for various items to get on our trip while still having a little pocket cash. Does anyone know how much the Build Your Own Lightsaber is?

OOhh, thanks so much!!! We are taking our 3 nephews and they are really Star Wars nuts and will LOVE to do this!!!!!!

Thanks Figment for asking this question. I had no idea about this and I know my 2 Star Wars obsessed DSs will want this. They too have been saving for souvies. Thanks!

My boys had a great time picking the parts for these. We bought the double ones, and my boys also recieved a pin. I not sure if the still give out the pins, but this is one the best souvenir disney offers.

did the price include everything you could pick from, or are there extra's like for noises or colors or ??? also, how long does it take to do it? and, is the only place to do it in the parks HS?

I know you can do it at DTD but the other parts are excellent questions, I was thinking it but the thought didn't make it to my fingers.

I haven't heard of this yet but I think my son would love this. Does anyone have a picture of the process or what it looks like.:goodvibes:goodvibes Thanks!

Ours were $20 plus tax. The only places I remember them were are Tatooine Traders in DHS and at Once Upon a Toy Shop in DTD. The different colors and sounds came with the light saber. Though you can only choose one of each. They also come with a battery. I don't remember if/how much more it was for the double light saber.

We did the double in October, I think it was around $23 or maybe a few $ more. No pin anymore. We did it several years ago and got the jedi pin.

It looks as if now all the plastic is colored vs the clear and you put in a crystal to make it barely shine that color. I was glad to see that change. I can't remember about the sounds anymore. I know our old one (clear) you changed out the things in it.

We were there last week and yes, you can do it in the shop next to Star Tours and at Once Upon A Toy in Downtown. They were $20 and $25, I believe. Other than that, I didn't look at them much. I actually found a kit on clearance at Target for $25 that does the same thing (choices of colors, choices of sounds) for my son so we didn't do it there. He'll get it once he's old enough.

You get to choose what color the end is - purple, green, red or blue. Then you can choose each piece - the guy helping will show the kids a choice between 2 pieces which are gray or black. He does this with each piece and then the kids get to choose which sound they want in it (a colored crystal) and the other crystal goes inside a compartment so it can be changed out. They look like the ones you can buy in any store to me. My DS8 had one at home that wasn't working anymore that he got several years ago from Wal Mart and it looks almost the same except it had a clear end and colored disks that changed the light.
I think the fun is just making it.

Yeah, we already have a few from regular stores so that's why I told him if he wants to do it, he has to spend his money.

For those of you who bought these, how long did the fun last? Are they just sitting in the back of the closet collecting dust, or do you think it's worth getting one?

DD16 made one 2 years ago and it lasted less than a month before the noise stopped working.
