cost for babysitters

Let me tell Ya'll I LUCKED up!!! I have a private babysitter (only my DS 19months that she keeps) and she only charges me $50.00 a WEEK!!! I have tried to pay her more because she is AWESOME! She will NOT take it. She told me she took this job because she loves kids and is lonely - well, my son calls her Nana and LOVES her to death. Since she won't take any more money we are always buying her things. I just had to share with ya'll my good fortune!

I pay about 6 -7 per hour and round up to the nearest 5. It kind of depends on who it is. I don't get babysitter's all the often because a) we dont' go out that much and b) my mom will help me out. When I do have a babysitter, I use a few of the late aged teenagers from daycare. I tried to pay well so that others will want to come - it seems to have worked because I can always get someone. What is nice is that I will ask my favorite but if she is busy - she will find one of the others for me and they will leave me a note. makes it very easy.

WoW!!! $10/hour...I guess I didn't realize how lucky I am. We usually have one of my nieces babysit (who won't take $) or my DD's godmother and family who just LOVE them like they were their own.

I remember as a teenager getting paid $8 (A DAY) for 8 hours to watch 6 kids... I did this ALL summer!!! What was I crazy!!!???

i actually get paid really well for babysitting....
i work at a day care center, and will babysit some of the kids from my class..im 19 and have been working there since i was17...
i only babysit some of them..but i get between 10-12 dollars an hour...
the parents say that its hard to find someone to leave the kids with, and their kids love me and think its "cool" to have their teacher babysit them..
ive tried to give them money back ,and it doesnt work! so for a college student, i love it

I also work at a child care center and babysit a few of my students and former students. A lot of the parents are nervous about getting babysitters for their young children so they ask the teachers at the school since we know the kids and are experienced. I've been babysitting since I was about 12 and I'm 25 now. When I first started babysitting I charged about $4/hour and now I charge $10/ hour. I have several families that pay me more than that. They tell me that it's worth their piece of mind knowing that their is a responsible adult in the house with their children so they don't mind paying $10 or more/ hour. Plus they figure they are lucky that I want to spend time with their children on the weekend after spending all week with them
