cosplay and Disney inspired outfits for adults

So I told my mom I want my Bridal Shower to have a Disney Bounding theme... Any creative dis'board members that can help me come up with how to word it in an invitation, I'm afraid the older relatives wont understand lol I think it would be so cool to have all my guests do it :)

Maybe you could include a link to a Pinterest board that they could look at for inspiration?

I would not try to dictate what your guests wear to an event. As a 'pooh' sized person, dress requirements always cause me lots of grief. Even for thin people, disney bounding could force them to go out and buy clothes, to spend extra time figuring out what to do, and most of them will not be into it at all. I guarantee some of them will be unhappy about it. You're already taking away a hunk of their day, and they're buying you gifts.. Don't ask any more of them.

Love both of them! By any chance did you get the skirt for Ariel at Venus? I saw a skirt sold at Venus that looked very simular. I came very close to buying it. Great job!

The skirt is actually from Macy's. I checked the brand, and it is BCX. It is a bit of a hi-lo style, so the back really looked like "fins" to me. I was originally planning to get shorts for my Ariel, but I saw that skirt and knew it would be perfect. I'm bummed that I forgot to get a full-body picture so that you can see all the detail in the skirt. I'll probably wear it again for our August trip, and I will try to remember to take better pictures. Editing to add a link to the skirt http://www1.macys.com/shop/product/bcx-belted-high-low-skirt?ID=1445582&CategoryID=53640&LinkType=#fn=DEPARTMENT_TYPE%3DSkirts%26sp%3D1%26spc%3D10%26ruleId%3D25%26slotId%3D5

For others who've done DB'ing, do people generally recognize and comment on your outfits? I had one nice woman tell my toddler, "I see that you are the Pirate Fairy and your mama is the Little Mermaid." I was so happy that somebody noticed. The woman said she noticed right away, but that she normally doesn't comment on adult outfits, just kids. So, now I try to compliment anyone I see who is DB'ing.

Wow thanks so much for the link! It is now on sale plus you get an extra $20 off! Yes I do think people seem to appriciate those who Disney Bound. I love going through the parks and seeing the creativity people have. It is also fun to see their faces light up when you compliment them.

I think you are being a bit harsh. I do not think she is making it a requirement but instead providing an opportunity for those that would like to do it.

I looove ths idea. And I dont think anyone poo size or skinny will have an issue. it doenst have to be about the clothes.. there is hair, make-up, accessories, nails, attitude

Maybe word it as:

Inside all of us lies a princess ( or character)
Please come inspired by your favorite princess (or character)

and show the link.. word of mouth can spread that one doesnt have to invest in a full pledge outfit.. I just recently worked on some ideas for my September trip.

I am doing snow white and besides the outfit, got a red hairband, apple earings and for the MNSSHP, I am doing Maleficant,. I got the Mickey ear with horns and will wear a black skirt and purple top.. To top that off, I found a black crow decorating piece on amazon for a few bucks. I will somehow attach this to a cuffbraclet..

there are tons of cheap, creative ideas outthere..

I only need seashell jewlery for my ariel look. or I might make something as I have a tons my kids collected

I think don't think pp is being harsh. Asking guests to go out and buy special clothes in addition to a shower gift, may be asking too much.

Now, people will reply saying "but they don't have to buy things, they can use what they have!"

To that I say baloney! This entire thread has people showing outfits and accessories that DISers have gone out and bought especially for bounding. Not every woman is into clothes, or has a closet full of accessories.

Many women I know dread showers in the first place. The idea of adding themed outfits to the mix is enough to make them nuts.

Also, here on the DIS, we are a group of Disney fanatics. Those of us who bound are an even more enthusiastic bunch than even most DISers. Out in the real world most adults don't care about all things Disney the way we do.

Haven't ever encountered people who think its strange that

"You're going to WDW again?"

Those who "don't get" Disney, may find the shower theme childish.

I want to add, that while I think asking Grandma, Aunt June, and Betty from accounting to bound at your shower is over the top...The idea of bounding with a small group of your besties for a bachelorette party sounds fun!

I have to admit that sounds like a great idea!

You're very welcome. I look forward to seeing pictures of your DB as Ariel!

I've been working on an Anna shirt for the past couple of days. It's not super great, but
1. Im 14 and haven't had a ton of experience hand sewing (other than cross stitch.)
2. I pulled it (mostly) together in three days.
3. The color looks off in the photo (it's 12am so all i had was the light in the bathroom)
But hey, I think it looks nice :)

The whole thing was felt I cut and hand sewed on.

Wow! Really 3days??? I think it looks great!!! You could probally sell these at a craft show! It looks that good!

I'm slowly putting together my outfits for our October trip. I'm doing Minnie, Merida, Rapunzel, Wendy, and either Snow White or Aurora. I found tealish green tanks at Target for Merida and am making the Minnie and Rapunzel skirts. I just bought this dress for Wendy, all I need to do is add a bow and ribbon belt. I think it ended up being $30US. Newlook.com: Light Blue Daisy Trim Cap Sleeve Skater Dress

Pssst...if anyone is looking for actual costumes, Zulily has adult and kid sized ones today, and there are tons of Disney ones! Off the top of my head, I remember seeing Minnie, Cinderella, Tink, Tiana, Jessie, Maleficent, Sofia, Snow White, and more I just can't remember. ;)

I keep meaning to post this, my sister and I Disneybounding as Anna and Elsa last March.

Going in late august, thinking about DisneyBounding as oswald. should be super easy, blue shorts, black shirt, ears (which I already have)
