Cosmic Rays brownies warning!

The brownie we got there was packaged so there was no choice of sugar free or regular. Not sure, but think it depends on the stall you choose there what desserts are offered. I'm pretty sure the menu said "sugar free" brownie. We thought it tasted okay. All foods that contain that sugar alcohol have that warning on them. I bought a brand of oatmeal cream pies that had the same warning on them. They weren't sugar free, but supposed to be healthier with the fiber, low sugar, etc.

just another food for thought. Girl Scouts came out with a new cookie this past year,"SUGAR FREE BROWNIES", well if you read the label, you would have seen the same verbage on it. That too much consumption...well, my girls just laughed at that. Of course, you really couldn't eat a lot at one time. Not like thin mints or samoas, but it was funny.

I have noticed that warning on sugar free desserts/candies that use Sorbitol. That is probably the case here.

Yep--I eat Low Carb (except when I'm at WDW), and so occasionally I'll have a sugar-free treat. Russell Stover sugar-free turtles are my favorite. Anyway, many times they replace the sugar with a sugar alcohol, which can have some effects on your...stomach processes...if consumed in excess. What's excess? Depends on the person. I can eat 1-2 of those turtle candies and have no problems. DW can eat 2 and they really give her fits.

I don't know if it's marked on the menu at Cosmic Ray's, but the Dis menu lists it as sugar-free.

Bottom line: if I see it's sugar-free, I assume it has sugar alcohol in it unless I learn otherwise from a chef or manager, and plan for that.

i'm sure there are lots of food that would give you a laxative effect if you ate excessive amounts. it seems silly that they would even need to warn people not to eat excessive amounts. this just seems obvious :confused3

Excessive is a very subjective term, tho. I can chew sugar-free gum all day without a problem. I bought these little mini peanut butter cups that were imported that had sorbitol in them and had the "warning." Two little mini cups resulted in a day on the pot. A serving according to the package was three cups. They were about as wide as a quarter and about a half-inch thick.

Did the same thing to DH, too, so I don't think it was just an off day for me.

my feeling is that if you have to wonder if you're eating excessively, you probably are.
