Hi all!

Quick question. My DH (new to running) signed up very late for the half and has been assigned a 50,831 bib-so the last corral. We have trained for a 2:45 or faster finish and signed up with a pace group for 2:45. Any chance of him being able to move up to our pace group? My bib is 38,xxx, so I should be able to stay put or move back to meet the pace group.

THanks!

If he has a 10k race with results that support the 2:45 he can get reassigned. If he does not have a race result to move, then you will need to move back to run with him.

For the record, pace groups are not all that good. With the GPS tools most of us have you really do not need them. The last time I ran with a pace group we were running 45 - 60 sec a mile too fast. The pace leader's thoughts were to leave fast and slow up for the finish. I dropped out at mile 3 and passed them much later in the race... with very few runners in the pack and well behind their goal time.

Also, if you are run walkers you are just not going to be in the group all that much since most groups are continuous runners. So you will yo yo with the group as you run then walk.

I guess I am saying why not just have fun running your first half together. Stop and get a few photo ops with characters and not worry about time on this one
