Hi All,

Have booked a 2 week stay at Disneys Coronado Springs for next year, Have been to Disney/Orlando several times but this is the first time staying on property. We have booked using Virgin Holidays and have booked a standard view room. Upon further research as its may be the only time we stay in resort we would like to upgrade to the Gran Destino tower. VH prices when booking where around £1200 more for the tower, Disney website has it around 500 more for tower (Disney prices direct for the holiday were more expensive in total).

What i'm wondering & I know no-one will have an exact answer, Would it be cheaper to upgrade for the 2 weeks when checking in, but risk there being no availability, calling the hotel direct now to request a room upgrade price, or trying to upgrade the room with virgin.

Thanks for any advice.

The safest bet is upgrading now so I would calculate what is cheaper, staying with VH or cancelling and booking directly through Disney (personally, I dislike booking travel through 3rd party vendors). As you booked through a vendor, Disney won't speak with you about your room now, so calling them won't be of any benefit. You can wait until you check in, but you run the risk of there being no availability and they will most likely charge you the difference in what they have on-record as the booking price and current rack rate which will not be cheap. Honestly, 1200 GBP more for two weeks isn't a terrible price to go from standard to the tower at CSR.

On second thought OP has a reservation for 14 nights. The request at checkin requires availability for the requested room category for 14 consecutive nights.
