We got back on Sat from 7 days at the CSR. It was really nice. We didn't get our reaquest of Casitas 4 or 5. We were out at the Ranchos 7A. I was very upset at this at first. Then we really liked it out there. It was close enough to the Dig Site and the bus stop was right doen the stairs. We went to the Pepper Market 2 times one day and it was a nice walk. So I do agree with the pp the Ranchos is not bad at all. We did enjoy the Pepper Market. If anyone has any questions I might be able to help.

Glad to hear you liked Ranchos! I'm apparently an oddball in that I actually requested Ranchos for our upcoming trip. I want to be as far from the convention area as I can get...as long as it's close to a bus stop.

Just wanted to let any first timers @ CSR know that the Ranchos really aren't a bad location. We actually requested Ranchos 7B and got our request. We knew we weren't going to be relying on El Centro, Cafe Rix, or the Pepper Market much and wanted to be close to a bus stop and on the 1st floor. We ended up with a beautiful corner room (Rm 7523) that was right by the laundry facililty and the Ranchos quiet pool. Honestly, I would have been happy to have been anywhere, but was glad we received our request.

I understand that many folks do rely on their meals at the resorts and if that's the case, then you are probably better off requesting Cabanas or Casitas. It was about an 8-10 minute walk to El Centro when we did need to go there, but the dig site was close (our girls, ages 9 and 6 LOVED the pool, the nightly campfires with marshmellow roasting, and the nightly movies by the pool), and we had 2 bus stops within a 3-5 minute walk. The Ranchos in general seemed very quiet, which was a major plus when we were all dead tired from so much fun at the parks.

When we go back in 2013, I hope to get in the same building as we did this year.

Happy vacationing!

I noticed you have stayed at almost all the mods...which has been your Fav?

We're checking in on Friday for a 3 night stay and can't wait!!!

We're still hoping for 8A in Cabanas but since I live here and have a car, it doesn't really matter what building we get :)

It looks as if there aren't any known conventions for this weekend so I'll be curious to see how the crowds are!!!

Hi all,

Joined the thread because I was thinking of booking Coronado for my December solo stay.

Has anyone stayed there solo ? Or during the Christmas holidays?

I read the first page and will read through the last several pages to catch up.

I guessI would like away from the convention center, I don't need t be near a pool and maybe ner a bus stop. I am uncertain whether I will have a car or not at this point.

Any help apprciated!

Without a doubt, our favorite has been CSR. Obviously, it's the most fresh in our minds, but I honestly can't say anything bad about the resort.

Our stay @ POR in 2008 was nice, as it's was our first trip as a family and our first time staying on property. We were there as part of a grand gathering with my family (14 of us total). Had a really nice time there, enjoyed the boat to Downtown Disney, and our location was good (we were in the "mansion" type buildings). I will say I thought it was somewhat difficult to maneuver through the resort and I wasn't crazy about sharing buses with POFQ as it made the stops take longer and the buses were almost always crowded.

Our stay @ CBR in 2010 was also nice... the theming was very "vacation-y" feeling to us. We were in Barbados, Bldg. 16 (I think). It was 2 villages from the main area, but again, the buses took forever to run, as they had to go to 4 other stops before leaving for the parks. There wasn't a bad reason we didn't want to return to CBR in 2011... more that we just wanted to try something new.

Now, our stay in Sept. @ CSR was truly wonderful! I know that a lot of folks mention how big CSR is, but we didn't see it as being any bigger than POR or CBR. The queen beds @ CSR are a huge plus for my DH and I, as I'm 5'11" and DH is 6'1". They were super comfy, and us sharing a full sized bed @ POR and CBR was just not very conducive to getting a good night sleep and was also somewhat laughable! :rotfl: We both slept wonderfully at CSR. I loved the divider doors between the sleeping and bathroom areas. It definitely allowed me to get ready in the mornings without waking the girls before they needed to get up, whereas POR and CBR have curtains you can draw. Good for privacy, but not so good for keeping the hair dryer noise level down like you can with the divider doors. We didn't miss having a table and 2 chairs @ CSR... and I loved the air conditioning situation @ CSR too. It wasn't the noisy wall units like you have at most other resorts.

We aren't headed back until 2013 probably :sad1:, but we've already discussed it and plan on making this our new "home" at the World. We really enjoy the spread out layout of the moderates, and we love how quiet the Ranchos section in particular seemed. I admit that years ago CSR was the resort that I least wanted to look at (in the way of moderates) because of the convention aspect, but we found that in a way, maybe having a convention going on was a good thing, as it seemed to keep the # of bus riders down. There was a convention going on while we were there, but it didn't affect us negatively in the least.

Thanks for the great feedback!!!

When conventions are going on at CSR, which buildings do they typically put conventioneers in? I was thinking it would be Casitas 1,2,3? Maybe Cabanas 9B if needed?

I'm going Feb 11-18 and I believe there is a convention around the middle part of my stay and I'm trying to get an idea of what to request and what is realistic. I do not want to be in Ranchos at all only because we will be eating at the resort dining options several times. If we didn't have the need to go to El Centro Ranchos wouldn't be so bad as I'm sure it's more quiet way out there! Mostly we will just be grabbing muffins in the morning or grabbing a late-night dinner at Pepper Market but twice I have plans to get hot breakfast sandwiches from Cafe Rix early in the morning and would hate to walk that far first thing in the morning. Obviously if we "had" to be in Ranchos I would try to make the most of it. I guess I could always grab a few days worth of muffins on one day and keep them in ziplock bags in the room, and just suck it up and make the long walk on the mornings where we'll be eating a CS breakfast.

I think my first choice is Cabanas 9B or 9A, then Casitas 4, then Casitas 5 or Cabanas 8B.

How large are the muffins at Pepper Market/Cafe Rix? Are they large enough to share between two adults for a light breakfast? Similar in size to Costco muffins? I have never been to DW before so I can't ask about a comparison between other Disney muffins in the parks, etc. :)

Not the poster you asked, but I go to WDW several times a year (try to get 4-5 trips out of my AP each year:rotfl:) and have pretty much settled on the moderates as my resorts of choice. I stay in them at least four times a year and have stayed in all four. In order of preference I like: #1. CSR, #2. POFQ, #3. PORS, and #4. CBR. I'd stay at any of them though.

My family is not as big a Disney fan as I am, so I can usually only get them to them to go down there once a year. However, I go 4-5 times a year so make at least three solo trips each year. At least one of those trips are usually the first or second week of Dec. Weather in Dec can be all over the map, so pack a little of everything (swimsuits, shorts, tshirts, long pants, fleece, hats, gloves, and coats). I've worn them all, even during the same week. WDW is beautiful in late Nov-Dec. I've stayed at CSR several times and Dec and always enjoy it. It's very pretty during that time of the year and in fact I'll be there Nov 26th-Dec 4th. Can't wait! As far as location, I love the Cabanas, but that's just a personal preference. I like that they are close to the main building and also the main pool, but if those are not important to you just look at the pictures and request the are that appeals to you. They have bus stops for all three sections, plus at the main building.

I'm really excited!

Me & DH go Nov 26th - Dec 11th and we've requested casitas.

This is my 1st post. How do I get a ticker?

It depends on the size of the convention. Larger conventions can have convention people throughout the resort, but they do seem to be concentrated in the casitas as far as I can tell (to be near the convention center). Most of the suites are also in the casitas.

A convention can pay for club level amenities, and those rooms are located in 9B.

Getting super excited. Only 2 more days and I can do the single digit dance. Woo Hoo!:banana::banana:

Hope KatMark is having a magical Disney stay.

Hello,

I've seen mixed reviews on the food at Pepper Market.

Can anyone recommend what is good to eat there?

What should I avoid?

Leaving in 40 days! :yay: Thanks.

My son disliked the kid's pizza every time he tried it, and he is a huge pizza eater.

The chicken quesadilla is usually good, had it once where the meat wasn't cooked all the way. So once out of all the times we ordered one is pretty good odds. I also like the chicken Fajita, don't care for the rice that comes with it, but the beans were great!

Overall most people seem to love Pepper Market for the fresh quality, huge portions and reasonable prices. The steak burrito is supposed to be delicious.
