We will be at CSR for the first time July 1. :woohoo:(My son is competing in the Karate tournament). We are all very excited as we have never been to CSR before. We will most likely skip the parks but possibly hit a waterpark. Our summer visits we like to enjoy all that the resorts have to offer and we do the parks during slower times of the year. ;)

Good Luck to your son. We will also be at CSR from June 26th thru July 2nd. The kids are preforming in Downtown Disney with their Dance troup on July 1st.:dance3:

We are trying to figure out where the best room location is for us. We will want easy/close access to El Centro so that one of us can run over to get coffees in the morning while we are getting ready to head out for the day. We also do not want to be too far away from the Dig Site.

My DH is also adamant that he does not want to face the parking lot. He would like a better view. He thinks facing the parking makes it feel like we are staying in a cheap motel.

I'm guessing that Cabana 9B would be the location that best fits our needs but where else should I request should a room in 9B not be available?

Cabanas 9B is sometimes reserved for conventioneers as club level rooms, but if a convention has not reserved it, you may be placed there. The other hindrance to getting in Cabanas 9B is that due to the way the lake goes back behind that building most of the rooms are waterview rooms, even on the back side, so may be difficult to get if you booked standard. My favorite building is Cabanas 8A. It's less than two minutes to the main pool, less than two minutes to the bus stop, and less than five minutes to the main building. If you look at the map, you'll see it has very few (if any) parking lot views. Click on the map below twice to enlarge it:

I'll be there in Sept and again Nov/Dec and am hoping for Cabanas 8A both times. Then again I have been in Cabanas 9B twice and liked that location too. I've also had a really wonderful room in Cabanas 9A. It was a ground floor corner room facing both the quiet pool and lake. It was just steps to the quiet pool, less than 3 minutes to the main pool, and less than 5 minutes to the bus stop and main building. I really like anywhere in the Cabanas.

We will be at CSR during the tournament. My DS is in karate and we would like to check out the tournament. Will we be able to do that? And it is our first stay at CSR also! Looking forward to relaxing and enjoying the resort:cool1:

YAY! I love watching the performers at DTD! I hope your kids have a wonderful time! The 26th is my DS' is bday! We are going to celebrate at 'Ohana for breakfast, unless some dinner ressies pop up. It's his favorite!

The tournament cost $20-30 for spectators  (yes that's p/person) depending if you go for just one day or both. So sure you can check it out if you want to pay. You might be able to get in and peek around, I'm not sure though. The last one we went to that cost $20 to watch was also a big EXPO so they were not letting anyone in unless you paid.
My husband and I are going to watch him and My sister, BIL and their dd are coming up for 2 days and they are going to hang out by the pool with our other kiddos while he competes. My younger kids gets antsy watching and waiting around and would rather be swimming. We have been to a few different competitions and they are all different.
USOpen-Karate.com is the website for this tournament. They had great rates for rooms at CSR.Better than my FL resident and AP. :woohoo: Oh and the entry fees for this tourney is a little higher than the others he's been in also, but we had been planning this for 4-5 months so I was prepared for that.
LMK if you wanted any other info and have fun at CSR...maybe we'll see you there.

I am every so slowly making my way thru this thread. After staying at POFQ for the last 2 stays (& loving it) we have decided to try something different for a change for our trip in September 2012 (sounds like a long ways away!). We had stayed at CSR back in 2003 we thought this would be a good choice for this trip. The nice thing is that it has been rehabbed since we last went so it will be like staying at a new place!

Thanks for all of the information and I will continued to work thru everything. :surfweb:

So are we, except we are arriving June 25th! Are you doing the DXP Nationals?

Just back from a (much too short!) mini-trip . . . CSR was wonderful! :cloud9:

We had a preferred king room (Casitas 3, fourth floor); beautifully decorated and plenty of space for two adults. We rented a car so I can't offer any bus info. The CM that checked us in was friendly and very helpful. Mousekeeping did a great job and our room was fully made-up & cleaned every day before we came back to the room for a mid-day break. Loved the Dig Site, and even though DH is not a pool person, we *both* had a blast on the Jaguar Slide! :cool1:

The only negative to mention was some of the service at Rix (the grab-and-go section) . . . we often felt like we were seen as an inconvenience to the CM's because we were interrupting their social conversations in order to receive our baked goods or pay. I can't really describe it any other way except to say that going there felt very un-Disney . . . :confused3

Other than Rix, CSR was perfect!

Thanks for the review; glad you enjoyed your stay at CSR. Interesting that you had an issue at Cafe Rix; it is usually Pepper Market that people complain about the unfriendly staff.

Thanks for the great photos.

hello everyone! thank you for the latest reviews and the pictures of the resort!!! Our september trip cant come fast enough!!!

I know...it is taking forever. We are down to 99 days.

We are trying to figure out where the best room location is for us. We will want easy/close access to El Centro so that one of us can run over to get coffees in the morning while we are getting ready to head out for the day. We also do not want to be too far away from the Dig Site.

I'm guessing that Cabana 9B would be the location that best fits our needs but where else should I request should a room in 9B not be available?

You can request Cabanas 9B; however, if there is a convention and they have paid for "club services" those rooms will be given to the convention guests. We have stayed in Casitas 4 and 5 and Cabanas 8A and it has taken me no longern than five minutes to walk to the main building from there to get our coffee in the morning.

There is no guarantee you won't get a parking lot view if you've not paid for a water view room. However, many of the rooms that are standard and "parking lot" view have so much shrubbery that you can't see the parking lot for the most part.

We are back from 6 nights at CSR and had a blast! Thank you KatMark for this helpful thread and all your help!! We were in Casitas 3 on the third floor. We loved the location. The resort itself is beautiful! DH and I went for a jog around the lake which was awesome. The fitness center is also awesome! We didn't get to use the Dig Site or our quiet pool because we did a water park every afternoon and that tired us out! We rented a car so we can't comment on the buses. The resort is centrally located to all parks! It's awesome! We really were thrilled with our room and mousekeeping. The first morning I called down and let them know that we would be out of the room early and back in the afternoon. They said we would have our room cleaned by noon every day and it was. Everything was cleaned, garbages, fresh towels, etc. We tipped $5 every other day. No towel animals lol. We were not big fans of the Pepper Market. We didn't like the selection. Overall great stay! We found our Mod home!!!!

Thank you so much for coming back and giving us your review. I hope my answer to your message was correct. I'm so glad that you have found your "mod" home, and that you enjoyed your stay at our "home."

Have a great time! And good luck to your soon.

Does anybody know if you can put magnets on the doors at CSR?

Thanks.

I don't know the answer to that...as we've never tried. Hopefully someone can come back and give you the correct answer.

You will love the new look of the CSR rooms and I think you will too. The beds are really comfy.

Yay, 97 days to go :cool1: When we started planning this trip we had over 200 days and now we are doing the double digits dance, cant wait to get to csr.

Double digiting with you. 98 days until we are at AKL for two nights and then "home" at CSR.

I can't wait only 90 days until our trip to CSR for 9 days 8 nights. We have requested Casitas 4 or 5 because of information we have learned through this thread. Thank you KatMark and all the others who keep posting information.

Just like the last poster we have had a count down calendar going for a long time (365+) to be exact but whos counting.

No just performing in DownTown Disney. We did Starpower this year.

Oh. Besides doing DanceExplosion, the kids are taking part in the Disney Dance Experience. They do a performance in DTD on July 1st - that's why I asked. Is your school doing the DDE or are they going there on their own? We never did this before and my dd and her friend are so excited about it.

We're staying there in about 59 days. 3rd time! :jumping1:

We're thinking of doing the Cabana's 9A this time. The first year we stayed in Building 3 of the Casitas (Which I loved because I could walk right to the Cafe Rix through the convention center to refill our mugs at night.)

Last year we had a spot in Building 3 but got moved to Building 4 because we were with our family (And somehow got split up.) Right near the quiet pool and bus stop.

It will be here before you know it. We were in Cabanas 9A in 2009 and really enjoyed the spot; it is a short walk to Cafe Rix from there...less than four minutes if I remember correctly.

Yeah, that's what we're thinking.

Honestly, I'd be glad to stay anywhere. All three sections are different and nice. The only qualm I have is that the Rancho's are so far back. But then again I could just take a bus (if still running) up to the main building and then walk back.

We are actually asking for Ranchos 7B this trip as it is the only section in ten stays we've not been in (we've been in Cabanas 9A and 8A...love 8A; Casitas 2, 3, 4 and 5...with 4 and 5 each twice).

We are narrowing down our resort choices for our next trip and are considering CSR our top moderate pick. We are deluxe snobs normally, but budget is tight, and we're hopeful that CSR will meet or exceed our expectations. This thread has gotten me VERY excited, so thanks for all who have contributed!!:cool1:

I would love to hear more comments, good and bad, about Maya Grill. It seems like many who love CSR have not even tried Maya. If you haven't tried it, why not? If you have tried it, please elaborate on your thoughts. We like to immerse ourselves in our "home" resort while staying there, really exploring everything the resort has to offer, so dining at Maya would almost be a necessity to us. We're specifically interested in dinner. Breakfast, for the most part, is grab-n-go.

TIA!
