Why did I think I read you were staying somewhere else? I'm so happy you'll be back at CSR in 20 days.

We loved CSR so much on our last trip, we knew when we went back, that's where we would stay again! Joshua and Marco still don't know when we are going. Can't wait to see the surprise on their faces when we go!

Thanks Aubree,
I really do like the Cabanas and have requested them. I'll keep my fingers crossed, but really any room is fine. There is also only one conference going on at the same time as my visit. Some national forestry thing. Shouldn't be a problem in my book.

Aubree, are you the one that posted quite a while back about using some sort of packing squares? If you are, how do you like them?

Liz

Probably. I used to roll my clothes in zip lock bags, but JamStew here on the DIS turned me onto the packing folders and cubes. I love them so much more. If checking a bag, I usually use a rolling duffel and the folders and cubes are perfect for organizing things. Plus if TSA has to search my bags they don't have to touch my things and the folders and cubes make it easy to put everything back in order. I really prefer the folders over the cubes, as you can really squish alot of clothes in one and as long as the velcro will catch, it will stay closed. I frequently use a Heys Exotic spinner for a carry on. It has a divider in the middle. I am pooh size and can still squeeze 9 days worth of shorts and thin tshirts in one 18" packing folder which fits perfectly into one side of the Heys carry on, then I'll use two slim cubes for panties, bras, and nightgown, a medium packing cube for two long flowy type sundresses, then a small or medium cube for miscellaneous stuff and still have room for a couple pairs of flip flops.

The packing folders come in 15", 18" and 20". I have two of each size, but normally use the 18", although if I have a few items extra the 15" will fit in the bottom of my personal item usually. The cubes come in slim, small, medium, and large. I normally use the slim, small, and maybe a medium the most.

Are the Cabanas preferred rooms now? Truthfully I dont' really care where we stay as the rooms look alike inside and the busses are convenient no matter where you are. I'm just sold on the hammocks!

thanks for letting me be excited on here!:)

Liz

No! We just got back. We reserved a standard room and requested Cabana 8A when we got there and they obliged us. :thumbsup2

Aweome! Be sure to take a picture of their faces. :)

58 days for me--hoping for my request to stay in the cabanas! :)
I so enjoy this thread and getting my Coronado fix while I'm waiting.

We will be at CSR for 10 days in July. What is the best location room wise? I have seen that some like 8A which I'm guessing is because of the proximity to the pool. Is the the best place to be? How far is that from the Pepper Market. We like to be able to refill our drinks either with coffee in the mornings and evenings or with cold drinks during the day if we are at the pool.

Are the rooms in the three sections (Casitas, Cabanas and Ranchos) all decorated the same or are they themed differently for each area.

I've see pictures of the rooms with dark wood bed and dark wood sliding doors. Is this the way all the rooms are decorated? I've also seen some pictures where the beds are sort of green and others where the beds look yellow.

We will be there EARLY tomorrow morning!! 1st time at CSR in 5 years...we are so very excited!! This thread makes us even more excited!!!!!!!!!!!:yay:

We're very excited to be staying at CSR June 2-13. This is our first stay at CSR (we have a Grand Gathering...3 families, 3 rooms reserved). I've been reading through the thread to get a good idea of room locations and it's been very helpful!

But also in reading, I have a question regarding conventions. We knew this was a convention center but it raised no red flags to us. Pros far outweighed the cons. Now I'm seeing that the National PTA convention is scheduled and it's website talks about "joining thousands of teachers, parents, etc." I'm a little freaked out by the word "thousands"! Do they really mean "thousands"?

The resort looks idealistic and we're so excited about staying. Should we be worried about the convention population?

We've stayed at CBR and POR (twice) and really want to try a different Mod. Any words of wisdom?

We will be there June 6-15 and had the same concerns you have. Especially after reading some reports of the Grainger convention being so large that the pools were shut down to regular hotel guests :scared1:

After freaking out about it in a major way and posting this same question, I was calmed by the more level headed folks here on the Dis.

The people attending the convention are there to do convention meetings and business, meaning they aren't at the pools or on the bus-leaving more room for us :thumbsup2

Also when I checked my dates, I found that I could still book for any category room and with the discount being offered right now, meaning that they aren't sold out. If there were thousands and thousands of convention guests I would think they would have those rooms on hold.

I've been so looking forward to CSR that I don't want to switch my plans no matter what convention is there. I can't wait for June :goodvibes

Just back from CSR a few hours ago. Loved it there. We had Ranchos 7160 a standard view room . Bus stop 3 was right outside our door and very convenient.

Loved the Mexican food at the Pepper Market.

Last weekend the place was packed from people from Louisiana. I never saw so many New orleans Saints jerseys or LSU purple shirts in one place.

Today we were at Hollywood Studios. Indiana Jones was closed for a cheerleading competition. The place was packed with cheerleaders.

Somehow we persevered.;)

Our thoughts too were that the pools and buses would not be as crowded, as the conventioners would be busy at the convention...then I read about the Grainger convention! The pool issue worried me!

I had checked on the "sold out" issue as well and felt good that it wasn't. Then I checked the website for the PTA convention itself and saw that registration for the convention just began in March so I'm wondering how much registration has happened since I checked the availability!

Thank you for alleviating some concerns! Our hearts are so set on CSR...really excited about staying there! I'm just a planner and am hoping we made a good choice. It is Disney afterall, so it can't be a wrong choice!

Thanks for the report. Which Rancho's building was this? How far in minutes would you say the walk was from your room to the Dig Site and El Centro?

Thanks!

We were in Ranchos 7A. I'd say about a 10 minute walk to the dig which was pretty cool.

We didnt do any swimming as we were at the parks all day and nights were quite cold. 40 to 50 degrees a couple nights.

I've just read on another thread that the pool slide is only open 11am to 5pm. Is this true? Because that may be a problem with my pool slide loving niece. Especially as the last trip we took to WDW we picked a resort with a pool slide, only to have the slide closed the whole trip.:headache: I owe her a trip with a slide!

Is there any place that posts the hours of the pool slides for the Disney resorts?:confused3

When are you going? The pool opening ceremony is usually at 10:00, and the slide opens then (that is when the lifeguards start). We were there in July last year and May the year before and I'm almost certain the slide was open until about 8:00 pm. It probably varies by time of year.

Yes,all of the rooms are decorated the same on the inside; the only difference is the outside themeing. We love Casitas 4 and 5 (more specifically 4) and Cabanas 8A. Any of those three are beautiful in our opinion.

I'm sorry I missed you. I hope you are having a magical time.

We've been there for large and small conventions and have never had an issue with the convention crowd(s). They say hello as they pass by and almost look envious that we are there enjoying ourselves and they have to work. They do tend to leave the pool and buses emptier.

Yes, there is a microwave that you can use. You can also request one when you checkin (just be aware that they have a limited number of them and they are first come, first served.

The Grainger convention was the first time I heard of the pool being closedfor more than one evening for a convention. I think you'll be fine.

The pool slide is open only while lifeguards are on duty. I forget when you are going maxiesmom, but I do know that I've seen lifeguards on duty until 7 p.m. and that is when the slide closes.

In February and March (when we've been) the slide closed at 6pm which is when the lifeguards go off duty. Don't know about the rest of the year.

I just figured it was the season, until we moved to the Swan. I walked around the lagoon most nights and noticed the main pool at YC/BC had lifeguards until 9pm every night. Maybe that is just one of the perks of staying deluxe versus moderate?
