Can you tell me how strong the hairdryer is in the room? I have shoulder length hair and I don't want to spend an hour drying it. But I would also rather not lug my dryer down. I'm trying to conserve space. Thanks.

I have hair half-way down my back and the hair dryer was fine for me. It is much stronger than the ones they have in values.

we just got back from 6 nights at CSR! we were booked for pofq and our room was downright gross and unmagical. so we asked to be transferred, and they were very nice about it. they even implied that they understood some rooms were in serious need of the on going refurb.

we arrived at CSR and fell immediately in love. we are yacht club fanatics... but CSR was great for a moderate and we very much enjoyed our stay. we were in a King room in Casitas 4. about a 7 minute walk to cafe rix, 2 minute walk to bus stop #2 (which was the best stop!), about a 10 minute walk to the pool and arcade. because we were just engaged they gave us a champagne toast voucher for the Laguna Bar.

the staff was great, the room was awesome and we will definately be back!!!

thanks for sharing, I requested for Casitas 4 and hoping to get that area b/c of the bus stop.

Mine is not quite as long and I also can report that the blow dryer was fine for me...I had asked the same question prior to my first CSR visit. Leave yours at home...more room for souvies!

This is exactly what I was afraid might happen with my reservation at POR, and I didn't want to risk losing my PIN discount if it did happen, and have to pay rack rate at CSR. So I switched back to CSR.

Was the king comfortable? I know the queens are all new, but wasn't sure about the king.

One more question - is there a place to store a laptop safely? Can we ask at the desk for it to be put in a safe? DH is afraid to leave his in the room.

Thanks.

:woohoo:So excited!! We are going back to Disney at the end of March and staying at CSR again!! Our boys know we are going and that we will be staying at CSR, they just don't know WHEN! Going to try and keep it a secret as long a I can. I'm hoping to keep the secret until I have to wake them up to go to the airport! Wish me luck!

There's a safe in the room but it's quite small, I know my netbook doesn't fit in there. Or, there is a room behind the front desk with several that are available. It's very safe, as guests can not enter without a CM being present the whole time. We were able to fit 2 netbooks and a large purse in one of them.

Yay! I finally made an account so I can post instead of lurking! :thumbsup2

We will be at CSR 12/17-12/24 - one month from today!!! It will be our first time at CSR and our second time on property (first was at Pop).

KatMark, I was ready to book POR until I started reading the information you've put together and all the wonderful pictures, so THANK YOU!

We will be arriving on the same date, and this is our first visit at CSR as well. We can't wait!! One month and counting!

The King was comfortable. You may just want to ask for extra pillows. We are pillow hogs and we both normally sleep with 2 king and 1 regular sized pillow every night. So 3 of the little moderate pillows didn't cut it for us... but we were also so tired and wore out that we could have been on bricks and not noticed. I'm sure you could ask about the laptop--being that it's a convention resort, they may get that a lot. I'm awfully trusting and never think about stuff like that. We were in Room 4110 and the location was pretty good. I forgot to mention that we were about 2 steps from a quiet pool--it was right out our door. There were some conventions going on, a few clusters of people in business wear... but it didn't take away from the resort at all. The walk to the main pool wasn't terrible. The hot tub is huge!! It was very nice after a long day. Enjoy your stay!!

I'm so excited! Booked my stay at CSR for September, 2011! :cool1: I kept going back and forth between Pop and CSR, as CSR was costing an additional $350 - $400 more than Pop. So I was really having a hard time justifying paying the additional cost. But after posting on these boards, and reading this thread - I took the plunge and booked at CSR, which is really where I wanted to stay in the first place. So excited!!

I do have a question though. I'm travelling with my DS (11) - what building should I request? We're driving down, but we want to be near the main pool and not far from where the restaurant/food is. And close to a bus stop, as I don't want to drive my car to the parks. I've read that bus stop #2 is a good place to stay near. What section is this located in? I want them to put a note on my reservation, so can someone give me advice on what building/section to request?

Thanks so much!

Bus stop 2 is located closest to Casitas 4. When going to and from the parks, it's the first one picked up and the first one dropped off. It's also near the quiet pool. Not too far from either the pool or El Centro.

We stayed at POP several times, and liked it. But Coronado is a totally different vacation. It's so relaxed as opposed to the go-go-go atmosphere of POP.

I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

Every section has all types of rooms; you shouldn't have a problem. You can also call Disney and ask them to "link" the reservations so that they understand that you're traveling together.

And Kat - I couldn't stand it anymore! After reading that POR is getting ready for a renovation, and the number of posters who loved the resort but say that the rooms look old and run down, I made the switch.

We're going back to CSR!

I was able to book a king room (not necessary, but that's what was available), and keep my PIN discount! So even with the extra charge for the king, I'm still doing better than the public code! It's only costing me about $100 to change, and since I know that I love CSR, I can stop worrying!:banana:

I asked for Cabanas, so we'll see. We'll have a car so buses aren't an issue. Except to MK, maybe - I hate the TTC!

Welcome home. :goodvibes Actually, I don't mind the TTC...we like taking the ferry boat over.

Just booked at CSR for Thanksgiving week (22-28) and got a special promotional rate of $762.78, that was $300 less then the online AP rate and only $75 more then POP:woohoo:
It will be a little weird for me because I just got back from staying there (11/1-11/5) for a conference. It will be tough but I guess I will manage:)

If it's too tough for you, I could go in your place. ;)

Hello KATMark,
Thank you so much for helping those of us who are set on realizing our dream of visiting Coronado Springs. My family of 7 will be staying at CS around this time next year. We haven't been to WDW since 2007. I've had my heart set on staying at CS for years, but the family wasn't sold on the idea. Finally, we are all looking forward to the stay and during the winter holiday season to boot. We're all so excited. The exact date is a surprise for the children. They only know we're going, but not exactly when. Any suggestions on what are must at Coronado for children ages 11-3 years old?

I am so happy that you are finally going to realizse your dream and stay at the CSR. If you enjoy it half as much as us, you will love it.

Thank you for your review. I am so happy to hear that you fell in love with CSR! Casitas 4 -- is one of our favorites.

You are so very welcome. I hope you enjoy it. I wish we were going for the holidays. Perhaps you can do me a favor and take some pictures of the Christmas decorations so we can add them to the site???

Casitas 4 would be good...only a five minute walk to the main buidling and perhaps eight minutes or so to the main pool (your son will love walking around the lake and looking to see if we have a gator in residence in the lake and all the fish and turtles in the lake). Cabanas 8A is also ideal...very close to the main pool...a few steps and a short walk to the main building (however, we don't know yet if this will be a preferred building or not).

Absolutely! DH just got a new camera (Sony a330), so he's going to be a photo-taking fool!

Katmark... You have such insight into CSR and I so enjoy reading all about it.. I have booked my first trip to CSR (my overall 11time at WDW) and I am so excited about it.. I have read soany good things about it and I really feel like we are spending our money on more of a deluxe resort than a moderate it has so many things that the other mods don't have..
But.. I need your reassurance.. I have read a TR (recent at the end of OCt.) and there was talk about food poisoning at PM and ACK bed bug bites..
I am NOT a complainer and I love just being able to go to WDW.. But, I have to be honest, I am a little freaked out.. Share with me some of your wisdom??

There are stories about "food poisoning" at virtually every restaurant at Disney. The thing is that most of them aren't actually food poisoning. They're usually some sort of bug or even an allergic reaction to a particular ingredient. It's just that people think, "Oh, I ate here and now I have a stomach issue. It must be food poisoning." The link is usually too close in time, for example "2 hours later, I got sick", but food poisoning takes longer to manifest.

I wouldn't worry about food poisoning at the PM.

Now, bed bugs I don't know anything about.

I agree with snkymom. I think 99% of the time it is NOT food poisoning, but a reaction to a certain food/ingredient, the food being undercooked, sitting too long, etc. My husband got ill after eating at Whispering Canyon Cafe and I got sick after eating a burger at the Caribbean Beach food court. Most of the items at Pepper Market are cooked fresh. We have eaten there on average twice per visit and have never had an issue.

As for bed bugs, another "could be or could not be." However, since reading more and more stories of bed bugs at hotels around the world, I am VERY careful checking in at any hotel. I bring a small flashlight with me and, before bringing the luggage into the room, I lift up the comforter, blanket, etc., and check under those as well as checking the sheets and mattress very carefully. There have been reports of bed bugs at the values, at the moderates and I even read it for one or two deluxe resorts. Unfortunately, this is not something Disney can control so just check your bedding carefully.

I hope this eases your mind.

Just booked our return to CSR! I'm so excited- it seems like a long time away, but I'm sure it will be here before I know it. I booked a standard room, but I'd like to request Cabanas 8A- I hope that doesn't end up being "preferred". Does anyone know when preferred room info will be published? Thanks!
