So if you get it "to go" where can you sit??? :lmao:

You can sit at one of the tables in the Rix Lounge if the doors are open (people frequently sit in here and eat during the day) or you can sit outside at one of the tables surrounding the lake with the cushion seats and watch for the alligator swimming around (this is what we do).

First off. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! For all the time and effort that went into compiling this much information on CSR. It is so wonderful to see all of you sharing your experience and wisdom! :ccat:

My DH and I are going to be going to WDW for our first time for both of us on our honeymoon. :lovestruc We booked CSR a while back though the travel agent didn't recommend it because of all the convention guests and tried to book us in a Port Orleans resort. I've been a bit worried about our choice, but after reading this thread I feel soooo much better! . After reading this whole thread I don't feel nervous but prepared and armed with a wealth of knowledge from people "in the know". I believe we picked the BEST moderate resort for us!

We are going to be at CSR December 15th to the 22nd. I just realized today that is a little less than 4 weeks away! :cool1:

Thank you so much again! Wishes to all of you that your next Disney vacation is the best one you've ever had. :wizard:
Congratulations on your wedding and honeymoon! We honeymooned at Disney way back when (we've been married now for 28 years! :scared1:) but stayed off-site. It's a great place to honeymoon!

I have been racking my brain to deciede what room requests I would like to make. I don't want to be too specific and ruin any chance at a King bed upgrade (we would be happy either way but since we arent taking the kids a King bed would be a nice plus). I am a light sleeper (even on Ambien CR), so a quiet room is important. I don't need a water view, but I really don't want a parking lot view either. I want to be in the Ranchos, but DH is concerned about being that far away from the main building. Requesting Ranchos or Casitas was my compromise. This is what I came up with...

A quiet room, non-parking lot view, Ranchos or Casitas

Of course no request is guaranteed, but does this seem reasonable without being too constrictive? Can I even request a non-parking lot view if I am not paying to upgrade the view?

And since this would be the only place I can find people that understand...I have a whine. We had originally booked POP, but since it's a romantic trip I wanted to try CSR. The extra cost was prohibitive since when I originally decided to swith CSR had no standard view rooms available with Free Dining. Finally, after about two weeks of trying I was able to book CSR with Standard View. I was so proud of myself. The next day and for several weeks after that there were no Standard View rooms available. I was thinking very highly of myself and pleased with my Disney planning powers. However, in the last couple weeks the Standards are available again. The are there everytime I look. I guess maybe they released some rooms that were to be used for a convention or maybe just added more rooms onto the Free Dining offer. Either way I feel deflated. My feeling of triumph has been ripped away.:sad1: Yep...that sounds just as bad as I thought it would. Thanks for letting me whine. Back to happy thoughts of DH and I strolling through CSR...
Even if they put you in a room that is "more quiet" (like away from the elevators & ice machines), you can never tell who's going to be in the rooms around you.

And one thing that I really liked about CSR - the landscaping is such that even if you're looking at a parking lot, there's so much greenery between you and the parking lot that it doesn't seem like you're right on top of it!

So if you get it "to go" where can you sit??? :lmao:
If it's nice weather, you can sit outside - they have tables, and near the Laguna Bar, tables with really comfortable chairs! Or you can sit in the lobby, or take your meal back to your room.

Is it true that all of the rooms have been renovated and all of them have 2 queen beds or one king??? We booked based on this and i'm sure my dad would kill me if we got double beds hahaha!!!!

Yes, this is true (this was all completed in October 2009).

I am getting so excited for our upcoming February '11 trip that my DS Max and I were looking at things on-line this morning and I came across this incredible video of CSR on allears: http://allears.net/acc/resortvids.htm It is beautiful with really nice, resort-appropriate music. It basically gives you a POV walk through all the sections of the resort, as well as El Centro and the Dig Site. Check it out! Even my three year old sat through nearly all thirteen minutes of it! :goodvibes

I also just had "a heart pause" about the bed situation. We just got our Mickey Mail and it says "standard bedding at this resort is 2 double beds" on the back of the hotel voucher. Please reassure me, again and again, that it will be 2 queen beds. Thanks.

Take a deep breath. You will have 2 queen beds!!!!!

Hi Katmart,
I love your thread :lovestruc
I am visiting next May/June and it will be my first trip to WDW. My partner and I are going for our 10 year anniversary.
I would love to stay at the Contemporary but at the end of the day just think it is too expensive cosnidering the amount of time that will be spent at the hotel itself.
So I am thinking that the CSR may be a winner as it looks really good. I have read a lot of reviews on tripadvisor.com and most seem pretty good. May I ask a question about the casitas? If we request 4 or 5 do you think we will still e able to get to the bus stops easily enough to get a seat - is it far to walk to the first bus stop to ensure we get on the bus we would like?
Also - re the codes, if I call up DSR direct do I just say straight up that I have a code?
If you could assist with these questions I would be very very happy
Many thanks
Brett
P.S Is there a cocktail bar in the actual pool at CSR?

Casitas # 4 and 5 are nearest bus stop # 2, which is the first stop on the bus route. This stop will be your best bet for getting seats.
For applying codes your best bet is calling WDW travel directly, I'm not sure if the resort can apply them.
Siesta's pool bar is located at the side of the pool, not actually in the pool like a swim up bar would be.

Hi! And :welcome:! I felt I had to jump in and reply because I, too, love the Contemporary, but can't justify the exorbitant price! And then I saw the rooms at CSR and thought, hey! That's it!

Having said that, my husband and I loved it! We loved it so much, we're headed back again in February. On our last trip, we stayed in Castias 4, which is right near Bus Stop 2. We were there during PResident's Week, one of the busiest weeks of the year, and never had a problem with crowded busses, even when we got on at El Centro, which is the last stop before the busses leave CSR.

Have fun! I think you chose wisely!

haven't been able to find it but can you get roll away beds? I thought I read somewhere that you could rent them a night. The kids ideally like seperate beds.

We are hoping to go in August as long as we can get our reservation changed from fort wilderness cabins.

Also my parents are coming with us and what is the best rooms to get that are near the DSA as my dad is a heavy smoker

Great thread :thumbsup2
After looking at all the fabulous pictures I decided to switch my January reservation from POR to CSR. I haven't stayed at CSR since my honeymoon back in Dec. 1997 when they first opened!!

Suggestions for room request??

Hey Friends,

We will be there Jan. 1st- 8th...We are a family of 4...DH, DS14, DD10 and myself. I am thinking I will prefer Casitas or Cabanas...we don't have to be close to the pool or dig site since it will be January and our kids are older...

I look at the room suggestions and get a bit overwhelmed...what do you all suggest?

FYI - We are the type who get up early to be in the parks by rope drop and go ALL day!

THANKS!

I saw an old post on the snack thread that CSR has gelato for a DDP snack credit.
You can find jjohnson's awesome snack list here if you haven't already...YUM!!! http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2381706
Can anyone confirm that you can get a small gelato for a snack credit?
Do they have gelato at Pepper Market or Rix or both or somewhere else?
TIA!

Thanks mouselovenfamily! DD was asking what it was and I figured we should make it a point to give it a try on our trip!
Good luck with your TR, I would be at a loss on how to go about a report as well!

Ok, so I have all of our days scheduled but the last day. I need some help with that. Travel dates are Dec. 14-22nd.
We have breakfast reservations at Chef Mickey's at 9:20. So we'll have to check out before we leave for that. Just in case we aren't back in time for the 11 am check out.
Our flight leaves at 6:50 pm. I am assuming that since the TSA added a whole lot more to security checks at the airports, we will probably have to be back 4 hours prior to flight time, rather than the usual 3. That and since it's a busy travel time, they will likely do 4 hours prior to flight anyway.
So we have from 10:30am until 2:50pm to kill time.
I had thought of Downtown Disney, but now I am worried about the travel times to and from DTD. Seems like by the time we got there, we would have to turn back around.
We have 3 kids ages 3,3, and 9 months.
Any thoughts?

I'm about a week out from online check in and I'm trying to decide if I should also make a room request or if I should chance it and ask to moved if I hate my location. I think we would prefer Casitas. If we get a room we can't stand the location of, can we ask to be moved? I really just don't want to be in Ranchos. They look like a typical Las Vegas apartment complex and for me that is not vacation like at all considering I live in a Las Vegas apartment. Can I just call and ask them to note that to my reservation like they do my anniversary?
