Thanks for asking this and in that regard I have a question. We stayed at Fort Wilderness in February 2010 and bought the 2010 mugs. Can they be used again on this trip? If it is frowned upon of course I won't but I was just curious...

No, they can't. The rule is mugs are refillable for the length of your vacation only. New mugs must be purchased for each vacation.

hi - We're tossing up between CSR and POR at present, but leaning towards CSR, queen beds and reports of a better bus service win out. I have two questions - do the buildings have elevators/lifts or is it stairs only (DD8 sometimes cannot manage stairs.) My second question is somewhere at sometime I may of read about golf cart or similar transportation around the resort - is that the case or did I dream it ;)

I have read that there are CM's driving around in golf carts that will usually ask you if you need a ride, not sure if they are driving around in order to give rides or if they are busy but will also occasionally pick people up?

There are elevators except for Casitas 2 -- and I'm not sure why that is (although you can access Casitas 2 by using the Casitas 3 elevator but it is very complicated).

As for the golf carts: they used to take guests around the resort. However, the current situation is that they are used for "convention" guests whose company pays for the service. Other than that, they are mainly used for when they have to deliver to a room or go to a room to handle a situation, etc. But we have had them stop and ask us a number of times if we would like a ride...I think it depends on who is driving the vehicle.

A friend pointed me to this board and I've read through this thread, very helpful!! Thanks. I'm looking for some advice - sorry if similar questions have already been asked.

Will be there in mid-December, was originally going to stay in POFQ where I stayed at my last time at Disney some years ago and LOVED, but it wasn't available with my discount so decided on CSR.

There will be two of us (adults), we booked a room with a king-sized bd. I think we're looking to be close to a bus stop (haven't decided if we're renting a car yet), and close to the food. I doubt we're going to use the pools. Quiet area is always nice!

Thoughts?
Thanks!

It is hard to say until we know which buildings will be preferred. However, Cabanas 9A or Casitas 3 or 4 would be great choices. All of those are close to a bus stop and short walking distance to the main building (Casitas 4 would be the furthest away at about a six minute walk to the main building). We have stayed in Casitas 2, 3, 4 and 5 and Cabanas 9A and 8A and we have never had a noise issue in any of them.

Can anyone tell me the difference between the cabanas and casitas? We are boked in a water view room from Sept 18 - sept 25. Should we switch over to a standard view? Is the $200 worth the water view room? Thanks in advance for any input. BTW ths is a great site...very resourceful

Kathy-
I love what you've done with the place! Looks great!!!! :lmao:

Thank you, friend. I have one more picture to add...MY CSR Girl.

The Cabanas have a more beachy feel (and have several hammocks); the Casaitas are more of a Spanish style village of buildings with beautiful courtyards.

Personally, I would not book a water view unless it was all that was available. As there are no balconies, the water view is rather wasted. We paid for it once out of our nine visits because it was all that was available; seven of those other stays we were upgraded to a water view.

I just paid off our trip. Is it weird that I am not worried about which building we end up in? I am just so excited to be going that I don't care. We are not too put off by having to walk- I walk 2-3 miles daily and my husband runs several times a week, so we are physically fit. I really am happy to be going in the first place with my DH and no kids. I have been saving up to do this trip and to be able to stay in a nicer resort is all I need.
Happy Saturday!!!:):cloud9:

Not weird at all. Every section of the CSR is beautiful and, as long as you don't mind walking, I think you'll be happy. You will love going without hte kids. As much as we love our kids and enjoyed our trips with them, it is a totally different experience without them.

Hi, I've been reading this thread all day and love the way this resort looks. We are thinking about staying next August with free dining. After looking at this thread I would say that most definitely we will now. We will need 2 rooms because there will be 7 of us staying. Isn't this resort right off the main road that goes to downtown Disney? Is there a Hess station right across from this or am I thinking of a different resort? I guess I would rather walk across the street if I could to get some beverages for the mini fridge than paying higher prices at the store at the resort.

Unfortunately, you are thinking of a another resort. There is no Hess across the street from the Coronado (I know there is one near the Boardwalk and one near Downtown Disney).

Thanks for the info. Looks like I'm going to break out the google maps to check this area out.

I loved Coronado when I stayed there some years back. The bus service was frequent and it has the fastest commute to the Animal Kingdom (other than AKL, of course!) and DS. The grounds are lovely, and they don't club you over the head with the theme. The hammocks around the lake are PERFECTION! It does feel a little more grown up than the other moderates in the best sense. The food court is decent. If you eat at Maya Grill then just stick to a steak.

I would caution against staying in the Ranchos because they really are a hike to the main building.

The Ranchos is actually our area of choice. We like the quietness and proximity to the Dig Site. Most of the time we'll go to El Centro to check in and check out, maybe once or twice to Pepper Market.
The walk (if you use the bridge instead of going all around the resort) is about 10mns at the most.
