Hello Kathy and fellow CSR fans! I just realized that I never said thank you after our trip back in February... so THANK YOU for all of the information! It helped a ton with the room requests, bus stops, etc. The whole trip went a lot smoother having that extra information from the thread.

We stayed in the Ranchos section and had an adjoining room with the in-laws. It was a very fun trip! I will try and post some pics... have never posted pics before, so it may require some editing.

Hi Kathy! Yeah, we got back late Sunday night. We were surprised at the crowds, but had a fantastic time. The weather was beautifl (not too hot and no rain). CBR was alright. We had a really good mousekeeper. The room was spotless (no dust anywhere) and we got four towel animals during the trip. We round up in Aruba 51 on the back side in a first floor room facing a courtyard and right around the corner from the lake. The Jamaica bus stop was closer than the Aruba one (but still a looong way from our room).:rotfl: Ours was almost always the first bus stop though, so that was nice. The buses came frequently. In fact, other than the resort feeling very large, we didn't find any of the negative things that others have posted about it. For some reason it just didn't feel like home though. I may go back, but if I do, it will be several years down the road. It just didn't feel like a place I need to rush back to. Mark and I both prefer CSR, although we also checked out POFQ again while we were there and asked guest services about their planned refurb. We were told that they'd be starting this week and that POFQ would be finished first and should be finished by April, so we're probably going to stay there in May just to try out the new refurbished rooms. I'll be back at CSR in Dec though (just 6 more weeks:cool1:), and can't wait. We had to make a trip over there just to eat one day last week and seeing it, made me realize how much I missed it. They still don't know where the preferred rooms are going to be located. We went to guest services to ask and the CM was nice enough to call and check for us. He said everything was still just speculation, but the CM he spoke to said that right now they are thinking Casitas 1, 2, and 3, and maybe all of the Cabanas, although Cabanas 8B may be left standard. I told him I was planning a trip down there for May and would like to know, before I booked. He said for now to probably plan on only Casitas 4 and 5 and the Ranchos as being standard and everything else preferred. That'd mean that only six buildings would be standard and seven buildings preferred.:confused3 Somehow when I think of that room I had for one night last fall on the top floor, in building 2, that had no elevator getting to it, and an ugly parking lot view, being classified as a preferred King room, I must cringe. lol

we made reservations for aug 2011 for water view and requested cabanas, if they make cabanas preffered will we then have to pay more in addition to the waterview price to get there?

Is $325 a good price for 3 nights for 2 adults?

Also which is better CSR or CBR?

I assume the $325 is room only for three nights? That comes out to about $108.50 a night. I think that is very good as the rooms are usually around $150 per night if not more depending on time of year. We've not stayed at CBR, but we've stayed at CSR nine times. We find the CSR to be perfect for two adults or for families. It really comes down to what theme appeals to you the most.

I am determined to do the Ranchos our next visit. I am glad that the thread helped you out and helped make your trip smoother. And delighted to hear that it was a fun trip.

It's easiest to download your photos to photobucket and copy and paste them here.

Yes, you would. Preferred rooms are going to be an additional $25 a night just like the Caribbean Beach. However, it is not and will not be certain until January 1 which rooms will be preferred. When I spoke to the CSR while there last month (and I talked to one of the assistant managers), the thought was it would be Casitas 1, 2 and 3 and possibly 9A. I think we will all have to wait until January 1 to get the final word, unfortunately.

Glad to see the pics. We've got 12 days to arrival and it's not coming fast enough.
One thing-my wife's cousin will be picking us up one night for a get together. Any possibility she'll have problems getting through the security gate?

12 more days!!!:woohoo:

How exciting stevea20! I doubt your wife's cousin will have any problems getting through the security gate. We drove our car from CSR to the Contemporary one night to see the lobby and monorail. We told the security gate what we wanted to do, and they let us park at the resort.

I just made reservations!!! We're officially coming back! My husband and I will be there 12/12 - 12/16. I'm so excited!!! We stayed at CSR for our first time last year the week of Thanksgiving. I can't wait to be back!

We like Casitas 4 and 5--about a five or six minute walk to the main building and about eight minutes to the main pool (could be a little quicker but I always stop to take pictures).

I hope you enjoy CSR as much as we do.

Thank you KatMark for taking the time to put together this excellent thread.

We are a family of 7 and always get adjoining rooms. Do you happen to know if requiring adjoining rooms limits your choices of rooms or buildings at CSR? Or are there adjoining rooms in each building.

FeelsLikeHome: Your pictures are gorgeous!

Thank you! That last one makes me want to book the next flight. The scenery was so beautiful. Ranchos was probably my last choice when it comes to sections... not sure why, but the other ones just looked nicer to me. But, Ranchos was the section that worked with my room requests (connecting rooms and the area we were in was close to a bus stop). Anyway, I'm so glad that I didn't ask to change to a different section. It's even prettier in person.

I would assume that all of the sections have connecting rooms. Keep in mind, however, that connecting rooms aren't necessarily guaranteed. When we reserved the rooms (2 separate reservations), we each made a note that we wanted connecting rooms. Also, a few days before arrival, I sent in a fax (lots of info on that in this thread) to CSR requesting connecting rooms. Luckily, when we arrived, they already had us assigned to connecting rooms.

Oh yes, and one other note - I've read somewhere on here to ask for connecting instead of adjoining if you want a door that connects the two rooms.

Hope that helps!
