Coronado Springs Resort -- New Unofficial FAQ Thread -- October 2010

Why can't I find Coronado's address in my GPS? I'm using 1000 Buena Vista Dr.

Any ideas?

Did you put in the "West" Buena Vista Drive?

I'm not sure to tell you the truth. We couldn't get it when we put it into our GPS last month either (although we weren't concerned because we knew where we were going and how to get there, but Mark just wanted to put it in for a time estimate).

So glad I found this thread! We have stayed at AKL several times.
The Swan, the Poly and WL. This year my DH just announced he
would like to go to Disney for Thanksgiving Yeah!!!!
I can do a standard room at AKL but I was thinking about giving
this resort a try. We don't spend much time at the resorts, mostly
in the parks but this would be our first moderate resort. I don't see
much difference except the cost!! I think I would rather put that money
to some great sit down meals at parks. Any reason to stick with my
no view standard room at AKL?

The reason to stick with your no view standard room at the AKL is you might not be able to get a room at the CSR. My understanding from many people that posted on the "old" unofficial thread is that the CSR is booked up all around Thanksgiving.

I've not stayed at the AKL...but it is my dream resort to try (and we hope to do it next year). We have stayed at the Poly and, personally, we prefer the CSR for a number of reasons...but mainly the price.

I'm sure you'll have a great time and lucky you going at Thanksgiving. Let us know what you decide.

here is a page with gps coordinates for all the resorts

Thanks! I received a PM saying I shouldn't use Orlando as the city because it will take me to another area. I think I'll just tell the GPS to take me to Animal Kingdom and that will be close enough :rotfl2:. Hopefully I'll learn quickly how to get back there anyway. We're planning to mostly take the bus anyway.

Probably, as long as there is availability at CSR.

I'm on a FD pin with CSR right now trying to add an extra day at the start of my trip. Currently there wasn't anything available for 11/20 - even w/o the pin.

I'll be speed dialing when it comes to the beginning of November, which is when I think the release will happen for my time frame.

We will be there starting Nov 27th! We are there for 9 days, with free dining. This will be our first trip ever!! So excited!

We did end up adding an extra day at the beginning of the trip (Nov 26th), but it was during the free dining black out period, so we decided to try another resort for that first day. We are staying at POR the 26th on a room only reservation, and then heading over to CSR for the remainder of our stay! Can't wait!!

Where is there a list of the conventions going on? Last I heard there was the Youth Summit convention Dec 1-4 or something like that.

Verry Cool.

Turns out the conference that is at the resort right before our stay is sold out with regards to their rooms. So no freeing up will occur.

Mind you over on southwestvacations it states that there is availibility to book CSR within one of their vacation packages. What do y'all think --- do companies like SW buy up a bunch of spots with the hopes of selling? What would they do with the rooms if they don't book them? Do they go back to Disney for re-booking?

Well as much as I would like to become a TA part time, I've yet to master the ins and outs of all this stuff. :headache:

Post #4 of this thread has a list of conventions. However, please be aware that it is NOT a full list. This list was comprised by research, people sending info, etc.

Can someone tell me about internet access at the resort? My father is thinking of bringing his laptop and if I remember correctly it is not free at Coronado right?

It is not free at any of the resorts. I paid $9.95 for 24 continuous hours for three of the four nights we were there. It was easy to access and I had no issues.

We are going in December and haven't stayed there since 1999. I am anxious to see it!

Casitas looks beautiful, thinking of requesting that area.

Thanks for this thread, I'm anxious to read the entire thing!

Can you get ice tea with the refill mugs?
Thanks

Thanks for asking this and in that regard I have a question. We stayed at Fort Wilderness in February 2010 and bought the 2010 mugs. Can they be used again on this trip? If it is frowned upon of course I won't but I was just curious...

I haven't posted on either CSR threads but have totally lurking. This is our first stay here. Lately we've been staying at the Pop, because we actually like all the hustle and bustle, food and bus. We tried POFQ, but didn't like the food or the quietness of it. We are a window decorating, matching family t-shirts, say hi to cm's by name ... type of people. We've brought Xmas tree to pop, and plan on doing it again at CSR. We plan in doing lights too.

So my question is this, we'll be there dec 18th through dec 26th (around the same time as others of you, yeah!). But anyway will people totally hate my "tacky" christmas window? I hope not... Will there be others decorating too? We actually didn't go to contemporary this time because then we really know they won't like our style :) and I really can't help myself at Xmas. Thanks for your input.

Hi! We will be there the 18th through the 23 and I totally love your tacky window idea! I hope to be just as tacky :) I've never decorated before so I'm looking forward to it!

Okay, friends. I have FINALLY finished updating this thread and will ask that they now close the old one. Please feel free to post any questions here. There are many of us who stay at the CSR regularly as well as others who are more than willing to help. Please post any reviews, photos, etc. The more the better.

Thanks for your patience while I finished this up and for all of your support.

Thanks! We leave Sunday morning and I am trying to get all my last minute info while trying to pack and deal with two sick kiddos! It's awesome to come here and have all my questions answered.

I'm lovin this thread and all the great info, plus the wonderful photo's! DH and I are celebrating our 15 year anniv. in February and we heard great things about CSR, so decided to give it a try. :cheer2: We've previously stayed at POR, CR and SOG.
I'm looking forward to all the updates as the weeks pass by...hopefully quickly:thumbsup2

hi - We're tossing up between CSR and POR at present, but leaning towards CSR, queen beds and reports of a better bus service win out. I have two questions - do the buildings have elevators/lifts or is it stairs only (DD8 sometimes cannot manage stairs.) My second question is somewhere at sometime I may of read about golf cart or similar transportation around the resort - is that the case or did I dream it ;)

Yeah! We like to walk around the resort and look at windows. I hope to see yours!
