I have just received word that ONLY Casitas 1, 2 and 3 are going to be preferred rooms. Cabanas 9B will remain Club Level for Convention guests.

If this changes again, I will repost.

We just booked a last minute Spring Break trip staying at CSR. We've never stayed there and I am wondering if there is any advice for a newbie. We have only stayed at AKL (our favorite), WL, and SSR Treehouse Villas.

97 days left until we leave and the best news is my wonderful has approved 4 that's right 4 trips to the happiest place on Earth next year.:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana: I am so excited.

what is a magnetic door?:confused3

I think they are asking if the door have a magnetic set tin the middle of them that hold them together?? If that is the question ours did not have that, they just pulled close to each other. I hope that's what you wanted:goodvibes

I think she is asking whether magnets (like fridge magnets) work on the doors. I don't know because I haven't been there yet, but hopefully someone else can help out.

Our were wood doors...

Are you talking about the room door (to the outside) or the bathroom area doors? I think you are talking about the bathroom doors and I think she was asking about the door to the outside. Hope I'm not confusing the issue further, lol!

:rotfl::rotfl:My mistake! I read it wrong I guess! I didn't try to stick anything to your outside door so I'm not sure!! Sorry for the confusion!!!

:lmao::rotfl: To clarify I am asking if magnets will stick (attract) to the door going into the room.

I can't answer that as I've never requested anything online (I put my request in when I make my reservation). I thought you could not request "specific" buildings or sections when doing online check-in...that must have changed.

Oh, I put in a request by calling for the upper floor Ranchos section. But online check in you can put in for near transportation. I tried to put near transportation and it said the request could not be made.

It hasn't changed. I just did it and the only choices were ground floor or near transportation. (There was also the refrigerator, and one other choice I don't remember, but it had nothing to do with building requests.)

Well, just got back from a 10 day vacation at WDW - our first trip!!! Thanks everyone on the DISboards for helping me plan this trip. I planned everything, my DH just showed up! :lmao:

We stayed at POR the first night because I added it on after making the initial reservation at CSR. Since the added on night was Black Friday, this could not be added to our dining plan, so it was a room only reservation. I chose to try a different resort to see the difference. We felt 'meh' about POR, but we really liked CSR. When I checked into POR, the line was LOOONNNGGG to check in. It took about an hour to get to a CM just to check in. I did not do online check in for either resort. The line moved evenly between those who did/didn't do online check in, so I didn't feel slighted. Due to a change in plans last minute, we had to take a taxi from POR to CSR in order to check in and get our KTTW cards. It was Saturday morning and I was worried about how long the line would be, especially after seeing POR's checkin line!! We got there and there was NO line!!! :cool1: I got us checked in, got our cards, and our room was ready at 9AM!!! :cool1: We went to check out our room and put some stuff down. We were able to get to check in, get our cards, and get to our room in about 15 minutes!! I had POR send our luggage over to the resort for us. We went to the park, and when we got back later that afternoon everything was in our room waiting for us.

We got the section I put in a request for - 8B I think, room 8627. Very close to bus stop 4. The room was nice - 2 queens (more comfortable than the POR beds). I needed a pack n play, and found that it fit nicely in the bathroom. We could close the bathrooms doors and the baby could fall asleep while we watched tv quietly. I brought 2 nightlights - 1 for the bathroom and one for the main room. That was very helpful. The room was clean, loved the doors to the bathroom area vs. a current like the POR had. Loved the nicer tv also :thumbsup2.

It was about a 5 minute walk to the main building. We went to the Pepper Market several times, the food was decent to good depending on what I ordered. It does take some getting used to the first time you go, then you get the hang of it. Didn't do Maya Grill.

It was about a 4 minute walk to the Dig Site. We stayed at the resort one day and did the pool. It was great. My 4 year old loved the slide and the playground area.

We ordered Papa Johns pizza one night. We were able to keep the left overs in the frig (I had ziplock bags with me). Very helpful!!!

I found the buses to be fine. I am glad I wasn't at stop 1 because there were always lots of people there waiting for a bus. If you want a 99% sure bet that you get a seat - then stay around bus stop #2 or 3. We only had to stand once that I can remember the whole trip. Buses came about every 15-20 minutes (between buses going to the same location - not one bus every 20 mintues). There was once that we had to wait longer, but something must have held them up (like an accident) because one finally came, and then about 5 others were right behind it.

I found the grounds to be lovely. The decor was nice. I wanted to be able to relax after visiting the parks, and we found we could do so here. It was never loud. We never had issues with our room. Once the elevator wasn't working, but I called maintenance and it was fixed quickly.

I did laundry once during the trip. The washers are on the smaller side. I had to do 2 loads as to not overload the washer. It was $4 total for that ($2 for everything). I put all the clothes in the dryer, but they were still damp when I took them out. I didn't have another $2 on me, or I would have split it up. I just laid out the damp clothes in the room when we went to our dinner reservations.

Overall, it was an excellent trip. We had a great time, despite my DH throwing his back out 2 days before our trip, and doing it again 2 days before our trip was over. Everyone was nice, friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again!!

Thanks for the review. I'm so glad to hear that the trip went well and that you had a nice stay at the Coronado. I'm sorry about DH's back...I hope he is better soon.

luckylady...what a wonderful review:thumbsup2 I can't wait to get back to CSR:woohoo: one question though...you mentioned bus stops 2 & 3? isn't stop 4 closest to section 8b? ...and am I correct that bus stop 1 gets picked up last? thanks:santa:

Yes, it goes in order #2, #3, #4, #1. We were at #4 in our Cabanas section. I was saying #2 and #3 get picked up first (in that order) so if you for sure want a seat - then try to get a room near those stops. We really didn't have any issues at all with getting a seat though. Stop #1 is at the main building (El Centro) and there was routinely someone left standing once everyone was on the bus.

I know this was supposed to be a down time to go, and we don't have anything to compare it to. But it seemed pretty busy to us. I think whenever we go back in the future, we may try for January or Feb instead. But I am glad we saw the Christmas decor.

Thanks for the review and I'm so happy you had a wonderful stay. CSR is beautiful. Also glad to hear that the Pack-n-Play, as my husband and I suspected, fits in the vanity area of the bathroom with the doors closed! :woohoo: We are traveling with our three year-old son and are somewhat concerned about his ability to sleep with us in the room.
