Where have you been, my friend? We've missed you. Your siggy says "no ticker"--you have to change that. We're missing CSR this trip (got an offer of a free stay at OKW and we couldn't say no). Let me know if you do a TR.

Updated my ticker!!! We have 2 days until we make ADR's then it's just getting through the winter.

I'd jump at the chance to stay at OKW free also! But it'll have been 2.5 years between CSR stays for me by the time I get back there....I'm so excited and anxious!! :) If I do a TR I will definitely let you know. It is a couples trip. Me and TC are going with my best friend and her fiance. We are celebrating her birthday (get there the day after) Our 15 years and their 10 years....:)

Hello all!!!
Just return from a 10 day stay at CSR, and I wanted to chime in with some of my thoughts...
we had performed on line check in and had requested Cabanas section. We had a disaster of a morning with our plane delayed, and then once boarded our plane, we sat on the tarmac for another hour due to mechanical issues (I just about lost it then!!!) which trickled down to our rental car delay, and just a major crappy start. Once we arrived we were assigned Rancos 6B... I had asked her if there was any availability in cabanas, to which she huffed and said the resort was full and there was nothing anywhere... I couldn't take it anymore, and I started crying. The manager came over and told her she would check to see and moved us to Ranchos 7B... I didn't care about the view, parking lot was fine, it was just the attitude. We ended up loving the Ranchos section, it has a fine pool which then kids loved!!!
We did the games, campfire and poolside movies almost every night. They did not have this last year, and it is a great addition to the resort...
We ate at the pepper market mostly for breakfast...but I will say the lines to pay were ridiculous, and the attitude of some of the people was a little off-putting...
We did not use bus service at all as we had a rental car..
I made sure to leave housekeeping envelopes everyday and was fortunate enough to meet our housekeeper who thanked us profusely..
One major issue I noted was the cell phone reception: near pool and in common areas great. In the room Horrible. I kept seeing people talking in the hallway on the desk chairs and i didn't realize why until I tried to call my family back home... Every time I wanted to open emails or call or text I had to step out in the hallway... Given the situation with hurricane Irene And the earthquake, it made contacting the family ridiculous...plus the fact that people walking in the hall could hear ur conversation...

Other than this, it was a great vacation.

Well sad(ish) news for us. We had to spend some of our vacation money in an emergency so we're having to move back from CSR to Pop for our trip in December. At least we're going still! But I'll be back for you, CSR. pirate:

Sorry to hear you had an emergency. I hope all is well now. That's great you didn't have to cancel completely! You can always walk around the grounds and grab a bite to eat at CSR sometime during your stay. Pop is a fun resort. If you haven't stayed there before, check out the POP thread on the resort board, the first 3 posts are very helpful!

That is disappointing but you have a great attitude! We've stayed at POP and it is a magical place itself!!

Oh everything is okay, nothing life-threatening just money-threatening :lmao:. Yeah I plan to drag everyone on a resort tour on our off day just to see it. Thanks for the reminder/info about the Pop thread!

Yeah it was a little disappointing, but you know we still get to go to the world and that is the most important part to all three of us! I've heard the food at Pop's food court is really good so I'm looking forward to testing that out ;)

The dinner menu at POP has more selections than there lunch offerings. If you time it right, you can be there for the hustle and get a fun button! The salmon and orzo has always been very good at night. If you opt for the parmesan crusted chicken be sure to get some kind of sauce with it, it can be very dry without a sauce but it's very good!!! Of course, don't forget the signature tie dye cheese cake! I like the tea machines there, I like the green tea or the sweet tea. Too bad they took out the slushie machines though to replace them with the tea.

There are big wheel races at the 70's building, but I've always missed seeing them.

Thanks for feedback! Sounds like things thankfully turned around once you got settled. For me, I am so stressed until I get to that room despite trying not to be! I think it's because of all the excitement and energy that goes into the trip and when that day FINALLY comes to leave, I'm a mess! I'm hoping that by confessing it here, maybe I'll be better about it for our next trip but I totally understand your mini-breakdown upon check- in!!

The info about cell phone service is really helpful.

lovethattink,

Thank you for the photos, they are just great, just what we needed for our up coming get away. Doing the single digit shuffle :cool1: :thumbsup2

Love the shots and the pool side activities.

Does any know or have the schedule for September? :confused3

Nothing like being excited to go. We are all packed and ready to go. Just need to add our last minute electronics.

Robin K - Have a safe trip and hope to see you guys at one of the pool side activities.

We got back from WDW this week. We stayed Aug 21st to the 28th and then followed that up by transferring to Animal Kingdom Lodge for 2 nights. We really enjoyed the Coronado. We checked in Sunday afternoon about 4 pm and were helped immediately. We did not do online checkin. We were given Ranchos 6B. I told the cast member that I really didn't want to be that far away as my husband has some problems with walking a lot so she checked and gave us a room in 8B. My family started to put luggage on the luggage cart as we had groceries and many suitcases but someone from Bell services explained that they had to take the luggage to the room as someone had hurt themselves using the cart by themselves. That was fine with us!

A few minutes later they were ready to take us to our room in a cart. When we arrived, my husband opened the door of the room that faced the parking lot and found out that there was someone in the room! The TV was on and clothes were scattered all around but the occupants weren't there at the time. So, the good thing is that since we had the CM there, he radioed for another room and promptly got us one another room in 8B but this one was facing the greenery on the front side of the buildings that faced the lake. A much better view! The CM told us that they had switched the room reservations system from an outside company that was working well to now being done by Disney but this new system seems to have kinks in it. He said it was called Lilo but he was sure that Stitch was in there somewhere causing trouble!

We enjoyed the pool movies but got rained out one night. My teen boys liked the slide and the fact that the pool was so big that it didn't feel crowded with kids. The kids liked the Pepper Market although I ended up getting the fruit plate or salads after awhile as I don't like to have a lot of food with added oil as happens with foods cooked on the grill.

One interesting thing was that at breakfast, we got 2 drinks. Both times our server told us that as well as the cashier but I was sure that it was supposed to be one drink now with the dining plan. We brought the reusable mugs one day and even got a third drink ( a bottle of water) by using the mug. They never filled up our mugs, just brought us drinks in glasses and we always got the bottle of water also with the mugs so that was kind of silly but nice not to have to wash the mugs.

I asked the person who seated you one day if the oatmeal which was 3.99 was a snack credit. He told me no as it was over $4.00 with tax. Then I decided to ask the cashier and she said it was a snack credit so I bought it several times and it was always a snack credit. It is served behind the counter by one of the cooks but they have brown sugar, cinnamon and golden raisins out that you can put in it.

For getting coffee at Cafe Rix, it is never busy much at 7 am but 8 to 8:30 am when I went, it was always a much busier time. The Pepper Market opens at 7 am and it wasn't busy at all the first hour it was open.

We did like the fact that the rooms had a clothesline built into the shower that you could pull out and put your swimsuits on. Also, we did laundry several times and it was never crowded and the change machine took $5 and $1 bills and it always worked so it worked well for us. The laundry was open 24 hours and has a place to put your card key so it was great that I could get up early and do the laundry.

My husband rented a scooter offsite from Apple Scooters. We called Bell services when we got to our room and they said it wasn't there. I had to go back to talk to the concierge who found the scooter in one of the storage rooms. We had requested Casitas 4 or 5 but didn't get them as we wanted the first bus stop. When we went to leave for the parks at 8:15 or 8:30 am, we did have problems the day that we went to Magic Kingdom as it took my husband 5 buses to finally get on but he was only about 1/2 hour behind us as we had got on the bus thinking he would get on. After that, for the 8 to 8:30 times when we left, we walked over to the bus stop at the Ranchos as it got us on sooner than the Cabanas bus stop and we were able to sit instead of stand a couple of times and my husband was able to get on with his scooter. When we went somewhere in the middle of the day or later in the day, it wasn't a problem to get on the bus stop by the Cabanas with my husbands scooter.

Anyway, we enjoyed our stay a lot so if you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Katmark, thanks for helping with this thread. I learned a lot from it!

I'd like to know the answer to this question as well, if one of you pro's can answer.

I'm bumping this up for you since I didn't see it answered. :goodvibes We have only done the DDP once and it was at Beach Club, so I can't answer your question definitively. I think people have reported not being charged the 10% if they are on the DDP, but I'm not sure if that means the server doesn't get anything. Can anyone who has been there recently on the DDP answer for the OP?

Leaving for our first CSR trip in 9 days!:banana::banana: Not only are we staying at CSR but we are going with out our kids!!!!!!:cool1: Can not wait thanks for all the great tips on this wonderful thread. Thanks again!!

Sorry about the bad start, but happy you had a good trip!

I'll be there in six days and am afraid if we get stuck in the Ranchos that I may cry like a baby too.:rotfl: That is the only section I really don't like. We're hoping for the Cabanas too.

I too have trouble with phone reception inside the CSR rooms. Sometimes if I sit on one of those ottomans right in the window I can get out, but sometime I have to stand in the doorway. I have T Mobile. It's fine in the parks and around the resort, but sucks inside the rooms.

Five more days until my husband and I arrive. We love staying here and always ask for Casitas building #5. It just works so well for us. Have loved reading all the posts.

We're staying at CSR the week before Easter 2012 and I have a few questions for you CSR experts.

1. I originally thought I would request Cabanas 8A to be near the Dig Site. We stayed there a few years ago and it was great to be so close to the pool. But given the week we will be there I'm expecting big crowds and crowded buses. So I'm thinking I should request Casitas 4 or 5 to be at bus stop 2 (the first stop) but still near the Dig Site. I don't care about being close to El Centro or Pepper Market as we won't be going there much. What do you all think? Is it pretty easy to get to the Dig Site from Casitas 4 or 5? If I request Casitas 5, will we still be close to bus stop 2?

2. Do all of the rooms generally look like the photos on the first page (in terms of decor/bed coverings, etc.) or is that just a certain section?

We ate there 4 or 5 times for dinner and breakfast on the dining plan. We were not charged the 10 percent and no one ever mentioned anything to us about paying it. We did have different servers each time also and I often saw the same cashiers working.

we leave tomorrow at 5 am for our flight to disney and Coronado. thanks to everyone here who answered all of my numerous questions. i am so glad this thread is here! i will post a review when i get back.

Thanks for the bump, StitchandPooh'sMom! Yeah, I would like to know if the 10% service charge is included in a DDP CS credit. I bought the QS plan during our upcoming stay, and it would be helpful to know that.

Thank you, too, rrbar for your report on your stay. It's great to know that cooked oatmeal is available for a snack credit. I love the stuff, but rarely make it because I'm the only person in my house who will eat it. Will be nice to enjoy on vacation. :)

And thanks to lovethattink for posting the beautiful photos! You've gotten me psyched, LTT! :woohoo: Question for you--I see the room number you had clearly and wonder if the numbering system at CSR is the same Pop, where the first digit is the building number, the second digit is the floor you're on, and the third and fourth represent the room number. Is that true?

We stayed in Casitas 5. The walk to the dig site wasn't far, and it's a pretty walk along the lake. DS17 took the bus to MK and DHS, while we drove. He said it was very nice to be at bus stop 2 and get on first stop, but it took a long time from the time he got on the bus to the time it finally made the last stop and headed to the parks.
