Not dumb at all. I have stayed in Casitas 1 and Casitas 2 (prior to them being designated at preferred rooms). I have also stayed in all four of the Cabana buildings. I like the Casitas, but love the location of the Cabanas (close to main pool, fairly close to main building, and more white sand beaches and hammocks). According to the CMs Cabanas 8a is the most requested building, so I was surprised when they made Casitas 1, 2, and 3 the preferred buildings.:confused3 I guess the Casitas do look prettier and more expensive, but no way would I pay for a preferred room over there. Now if they had made Cabanas 8a or 9B preferred, I'd have no problem paying more to ensure I got in those buildings. I've stayed at CSR ten times now (just got back May 5th-12th) and have always booked a standard room. I detest the Ranchos though. The only way I'd book a preferred room at CSR would be to ensure I avoided that section, but even then I doubt if I really would. I'm willing to take the chance to get my beloved Cabanas.

Just FYI: not all rooms in Casitas 1, 2, or 3 are good rooms. If you do decide to keep your preferred room, make sure they don't stick you way up on the top floor of Casitas 2 (facing the parking lot). That's what they call 'No Man's Land'. That building is the only that does not have an elevator and rooms on the back side on the very top floor are very hard to get to. I once had a king room up there and could not believe I had paid extra for such a lousy parking lot view, that I had a hard time getting to. The choices to get up to that room were either walking around the building (down next to the quiet pool) then walking up four flights of stairs, then around to the other side of the building or to walk all the way around to the lake side of building 3, take the elevator to the top, walk across the walkway that connects building 2 and building 3, then walk all the way around the building to the back side, then walk down to the end of building 2.:faint: It was easier to just walk up the four flights of stairs. I can't believe that room would now be considered a Preferred King room. lol

Thanks so much for this info! When we booked, we requested a lake view room but now that I'm more familiar with the property's layout, I'm convinced that I'd prefer the cabanas section, building 9. Hopefully because we've paid for the preferred room they'll give me the room I "prefer" :thumbsup2

oh yea, I'd be pretty hot if I'd paid for a parking lot view up four flights of stairs... no thanks.

Thanks again.

Paying for a preferred room doesn't mean you get to choose whatever room you "prefer" when you get there.

Paying for a preferred room at CSR means you'll be assigned a room in Casitas 1,2, or 3.

If that's not what you want, maybe you should change your reservation to standard and allow someone else who does want preferred (Casitas 1,2, or 3) to book it? :confused3

Hey guys! We are staying at CSR for the first time in July! We were wondering if there is a bus that goes directly to Typhoon Lagoon. I checked the transportation wizard and they claim you have to transfer at Downtown Disney. Now, I know this has been notoriously inaccurate. Has anyone taken a bus to Typhoon Lagoon, and does it run as efficient as the buses to the parks?

jwgm2012, In addition to what was said above, the preferred buildings put you closer to the convention center. You could very well still get a parking lot view in a preferred building, unless you have preferred, waterview. Then you could get a view of the lake or the courtyard fountains.

Either way, there are no balonies/patios to any rooms, so this would be the view out of your room window.

It's a CSR resort bus with stops at both DTD and TL.

First, let me clarify - I realize just because I pay for a preferred room doesn't mean I can pick whatever I please - my writing that was more a play on words.

Second, when we changed our reservation from a value to a moderate, CSR was the ONLY mod resort available and the preferred room was the ONLY room showing availability to use with our pin code. I didn't request a preferred room - that was the only thing open so in order for us to upgrade that's what we had to take.

If, and all requests are an if, we should happen to be able to move to a cabana room, then hopefully this will allow someone else to have some pixie dust on their trip and get moved to that building without having paid for the upgrade. :wizard: would make everyone happy

I love the Disboards so much! I have gotten priceless information from super sweet people. And since I love CSR this thread has been invaluable. That being said....
I find it amazing that someone who makes an innocent comment or question will get FLAMED within seconds! There is always someone right there to jump on someone for something! It takes just as much time to write a flaming response as it does to write one with a little sensitivity. Peace, Love and Happiness goes a long way.IMHO. :grouphug:

Not very nice response. Everyone needs to remember that most people come to the boards to learn. If you have information or experience to share, great! How about having a little patience and responding in a kind way!

And where is the sensitivity in your post?

Did you even stop to think that the person you're accusing of flaming may have been honestly trying to help with no intention of flaming whatsoever? :confused3

What was "not nice" about my response?:confused3

The poster appeared to be new (only 30 something posts?) and seemed to think booking a preferred room gave her the option of choosing a room/location she wanted, which those of us more seasoned know to not be true.

I explained what booking preferred does and does not mean and suggested booking a category she'd be happy with. How is that "not nice"?:confused3

For the record, I didn't take any offense to your response - which is why I wanted to clarify that for sure I know that just because I have a preferred room paid for doesn't mean I get to come in like a queen and pick whatever I wish (I think only Cinderella can do that)... Again, my sentence was more a play on the word "prefer"... and yea, while I may seem like a newbie - I've been around here for a few years...

But again - I think the way I worded what I was meaning to ask is what started this whole thing - and again my main question was about Casitas versus Cabanas. I don't have the option of my reservation being a preferred room versus a standard room - with my pin for free dining - only thing open is a preferred room.

So thanks everyone! Either way - Casitas, cabanas or bananas - it's all good and I'll be happy just to be there!

Thanks, jwgm2012, there was certainly no offense meant and I appreciate you letting me know you didn't take any.

It's been a tough week for me and being accused of flaming and not being nice just added to the negativity. :sad1:

Our weekend at CSR can't come soon enough!

I hope you enjoy your stay as much as I know we'll enjoy ours!

You know, too many times we type like we talk and it's unfortunate that because we're not standing right infront of each other - there isn't a "tone" that can help get the real meaning...

I hope your week gets better - we leave in 15 days and it can't come soon enough. But isn't that how this "crud" works? (wanted to type something else instead but that wouldn't be very Disney like)... it's like when the trips and good times are coming - the other junk has to take a front row seat... it'll just make us appreciate our trip even more... or at least that what I tell myself... chin up homie... keep it rolling. :thumbsup2

Hope both your weeks go better and you fully enjoy your stays at CSR!!

I just took the survey Disney sent me about our stay at CSR. One of the questions asked about how I felt before our vacation and to rank those, stress, care free, anxious, confident, etc.

Are the surveys new?

Arrived tonight. Took a little over 90 minutes to get to resort after our plane landed, but that was mostly because we just missed a bus and were the first ones on the next bus so we had to wait around for a 1/2 hour while other people boarded. We were the last stop on the route. The bus went to ASSports and ASMusic first.

Did online checkin. CM at checkin was super friendly and really talkative with DD, who is a super-extrovert. He told her he had a surprise for her and disappeared for a few minutes. When he reappeared, he had a balloon and a signed picture of Mickey and Minnie for her. What a nice way to start the trip with a little bit of pixie dust! pixiedust:

We booked a standard view room and requested Casitas. We got an upgraded waterview room in Casitas 5. We got here so late (checked in at 9pm) that I haven't been out to admire the view. I just put some stuff away and got our park bag ready for tomorrow. Our luggage from ME still hasn't made it to our room. I'm beginning to wonder if they are holding it for delivery tomorrow. But it's only been 2.5 hours since checkin so far. I hope they will deliver it tonight because I messed up and packed a couple things in the checked luggage that I really should have backed in our carryon. Nothing too vital, but just stuff that I'd like to have tonight.

So far so good with this trip. We're off to the MK tomorrow!
