You could take some plastic baggies with you and fill them with ice from the ice machine in the mornings before heading to the park to keep your stuff cold in your cooler.

I think the ice would melt too fast in a baggie, and it's going to leak and make a mess. (we've tried this, so I know ;) )
See if you can find a small waterproof container.... check a camping store ...
fill that with the ice to make it like a cold pac!

also.... FYI..... (you may already know) but you cannot take in a hard-sided cooler! make sure it's a soft-sided one!

And I found information somewhere that said the $2 for drying is only for 20 minutes! So make sure you have enough quarters if the clothes will take longer than 20 minutes to dry.

Thank you for letting me know about this! I'm sure I'll need at least 40 minutes...that seems to be the minimum I can get away with.

Switched to CSR. Found a little extra $$, so we won't have to stay at All Stars. Looks like we made a good choice to move ressies. One of the group hasn't been to WDW, so we're going all-out.

Excellent. If you have any questions, feel free to ask -- lots of great people willing to help.

Getting really excited even though we go mid august. I do have a question since we are in the planning stages.
Tell me about shipping water. I want to order a case or two of water from staples or costco. If I order 2 cases of water do I pay a fee per case or per order for them to hold it. How many days prior do you recommend me ordering it. Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated.
Thanks again!

We just returned from CSR on Friday. Actually I was quite surprised by how well they dried. I had a pretty large load and it dried in one cycle. I was glad because at $2 a pop to dry I didn't want to have to do them twice. :)

I just want to thank everyone for all the helpful info on this thread. We were originally going to stay at ASMo but after getting a room discount we decided to upgrade. This thread is what helped make my decision to stay at CSR. We went last week as our first on site stay and first trip to WDW in 13 years and I have to say we absolutely fell in love with CSR. We stayed in Casitas which where absolutely beautiful! My children loved the dig site and the quiet pools. We just loved the whole feel of this resort. The rooms are so nice and we where just thrilled with our choice. I am sad to say that while we were there the alligator made an appearance and we were told they were coming to remove him from the lake. I know he's been in there a while and I think lots of people have had the chance to see him. We were told he was getting to comfortable with people and we seen security and a real official Disney person by they lake discussing him so I assume they where waiting on animal control. We left shortly after that so I don't for sure if he was removed or not.

I am so happy to hear that you fell in love with the CSR. :) This always brings a smile to my face.

I know they've removed at least one alligator from the lake lately (he grew to be about 9 feet long); there is a possibilitly that they had to remove another one. It's sad...but some people feel they can feed them and this can create a problem in the long run.

Question for anyone that has stayed at CSR with toddlers/pre-schoolers recently....

I (hopefullly) will be staying at the resort in 2011 and the only concern I have is with there being a desk and one chair in the room instead of a table with 2 chairs like all the other resorts. My kids will be almost 2 and almost 4 yrs. old and we eat breakfast in the room almost daily as we are getting ready for the day.

....how did eating in the room go with little kids? Any ideas on how to work around this? Anyone request a second chair??

We no longer have toddlers, but there are two ottomans in the room that you can push together and use as a little table with the kids sitting on the floor. Hopefully someone who does have toddlers can offer other suggestions as well.

Thanks to everyone for all of the replies about doing laundry! I will definitely take a lot of quarters!

Also, thanks for the information about the cooler - I did not know it needed to be soft-sided. Thankfully, this is they type I was planning to take. Since the refrigerators do not have a freezer, I think I'll take a tupperware container and fill it with ice to stick in the cooler. That way when it melts, it won't make a mess!

I can also try to plan to take food for my daughter that doesn't need refrigeration. We plan on going to parks in the morning and back to CSR for a break in the afternoon, before heading back out in the evenings.

We leave on Saturday!!!!! We are driving from Illinois - let the packing begin! :cool1:

Have a magical time. We used to drive all the time (I hate flying). I kind of miss those "driving" days. :)

If you need to refresh your ice while you are in the parks, just ask for a cup of ice at any counter service place. We did the same thing as you are planning a couple years ago with no problems.

Good to know! Hopefully I will have the same luck! Thanks for sharing your experience! I'm so glad you guys had a good time!!

You arrive one day after us. Maybe we'll be at one of those "3" breakfasts on the same day at the same time. :)

I'll keep my eyes peeled. I will fight you over the buffet food though ;)

We are not morning people, so our ressies are usually a bit later. No rope drop for us!

Same here !! we try not to get up too early in the morning when we go. We'll be there from 9-11 thru 9-21. People have said we need to see a rope drop, just can't get up that early its vacation. Hope too meet some Dis'ers at CSR this year.

Stayed here 22-30. The grounds are absolutely beautiful! At check in was assigned to the ranchos section although I had requested cabanas or casitas. We were in 6A or B, can't remember, but really LOVED this section once we got to our room!!!! We were on the back of the building, facing a stand of trees/plants, but with a view of the lake to our right. Very quiet and private.

Quiet pool for this section, IMHO, was the best. Not far from the dig site from where we were either. If you can't walk to El Centro, then you can't walk around the parks folks so it is NOT THAT FAR!!!!

No problems with mousekeeping. I did tip them everyday, and they left plenty of bath products, towels, coffee, and fixed the bed with the childs stuffed animals every day like they were waiting on her!!!! Room with very clean. If they came before we left for the parks they were very polite when we asked they come back (this was always about 9:00 a.m.)

No problem at check in or getting traveler's cheques cashed, or adding our park tickets to our room keys. Concierge was great!

Not a long wait for the buses, and no sharing with other resorts. When it's busy, you are going to wait longer or may have to stand, but it's that way at any resort. We rode the monorail around one day and frankly I didn't see it was any better between the resorts than the buses as far as crowding, etc. Only problem I have with the buses is that there should be seating at any stop/pick up point whether it is at the parks or downtown.

any questions, just ask!!!!
