I was told to rent a car when staying at CSR, not to get to the parks, but to get around the resort.

Is the resort that big, that if I were at the furthest room from the main entrance, it would be to far to walk?

with 2 little ones (3) and (5) it took us about 6 to 8 minutes to walk to the main entrance from the Rancho's area thats on the other side of the lake to the main enterance.
That was with them to stop and look at butterflies, checking out the lake looking for Glen.

ETA; our friends stayed in the ranchos and we were in 8A and they just cut through the pool area. We took about 5 minutes to walk to the main building from our building with the kids in tow

Am I understanding this right there are the coffee dispensers like where the pop/chochocolate/coffee area and then there is a coffee shop too.

there was coffee and and pop and tea but no hot chocolate (we had it AKL and missed it there) there were coolers with sandwiches and fruit and bottled drinks too

Thank you so much, Kat, for your information!!!

I am so looking forward to staying at CSR!!!

Do you normally call to get your requests, or do you just ask at the desk??

and you can take your purchased mug to the coffee shop and get better coffee....

I don't drink coffee I prefer tea but I know my man said the coffee was awful last time we were at ASMo and would enjoy it if I knew a way to get something better.

yes, in Cafe Rix there is GREAT coffee! You can ask for the coffee behind the counter or get it from the dispensers. :thumbsup2 Cafe Rix is right off the lobby, next to the gift shop & just before the Pepper Market. :goodvibes

Not Kathy here but I can share what we've done for past trips:
a. we ask to have our request noted on our reservation either upon first making the reservation or at any point up to leaving for our trip

b. 4-5 days prior to arrival we send a nice fax saying "Really looking forward to our upcoming stay & hope to enjoy a room in the Ranchos (etc.) area"

c. at check in, we nicely ask for our general location (b/c sometimes the room is not ready but they'll let you know your building)

We've always had requests met, with online check in/regular check in not seeming to make a difference.

As an aside, if I requested one area but got another area, I'd say thanks, go check it out, then if we *really* didn't like it, go back & politely ask to be switched.

All of the areas are pretty! We took some time on our December trip to check them out - wherever you are, you have a special & unique 'feel' - which is what I love about a vacation at Coronado Springs. :cloud9:

HTH!

NO! The walks at the CSR are overexaggerated. We've stayed at the CR, Poly and All-Star Sports before the CSR became our home resort. We've had a longer warlk from our room at the Contemporary to the pool or food court than we ever did at the CSR (and my best friend stayed at the AKL and had a longer walk from his room to the pool/food court there than he did from the main building to the furthest room in the Ranchos at the CSR). The big difference is that you are walking "outside" as opposed to down a long, dark interior hallway. ;)

I put our request in when we make our reservation. I also then fax it about three or four days prior to our arrival. I know that it is often stated on other resort threads that they just "throw away the faxes," but I have been told and seen my fax when checking in at CSR.

We were at CSR the last week of 2009 we were on the back side of Cabanas 8. It was pretty cool/cold in the evenings so I would catch the bus to the main building bus stop 1. Bus stop 1 is the last stop before heading to the parks. It was not to far to walk just too cold, then I would walk back to my room. Just an option.;)

I wanted to thank everyone for the great information. My husband and I are taking our 5 yr old to Disney March 8-15th. My husband (can't even really call him a DH yet) has never been to Disney nor has my daughter and I have not been there since I was 7 (I am 39 now).

We are staying at CSR and I am so psyched. Everytime my husband sees me on the computer he says "NO more Disney Stuff"

Just a quick note regarding "long" walks.

CHECK THE MAPS!!!

When we first walked to our room (Rancho's 7B - incidentally have asked to be there again it was lovely) we went round via cabanas and it was a long way especially with young daughter 4 suitcases and stroller she would not get in (Had been up 22 hours at this point!)

After we got used to the resort we used the bridges and it took maybe 5 minutes to walk to El Centro. DD4 never got tired even after a long day in the parks.

BTW Rancho's 7B 2 minute walk to bus stop, 3 mins to dig site and 10 seconds to quiet pool Maybe 8 minutes to El centro/pepper market only did it in 5 minutes when there was a beer waiting!!

Have a great trip if you are gpoing soon. Only 12 more sleeps for us!:cool1:

I have been reading that the rooms have been renovated are they all renoed now if not which areas have been done.

where can I find pictures of the renoed rooms are those the ones at the start for this thread?

Thanks for all the help with my ongoing questions.

Yes, the rehab was completed in September of last year. So all rooms are done. And, yes, the pictures on the front page is the look of the new rooms.

We made our final payment on our trip yesterday!!! Only 11 days until we tell the girls. I'm too excited can't wait for March. Booked in August CSR is going to be great! Should work on the scavenger hunt some more. Glad about the coffee at Rix hubby's drink not mine, Diet Coke Girl.

So, we're all checked in and even though it wasn't very exciting, per se, and nothing's guaranteed, I'm glad I've got room requests in, as well as our ETA, even IF that doesn't meant anything. Yet another thing I wouldn't know how to do without all of you! Will certainly be following this up with a fax for a room in Casitas 4 or 5. Casitas just looks so beautiful and it was all the fountains that caught my eye in the first place. Thanks, Kathy, for all of your hard work and patience. Since I've been reading your threads for a while now, I can see that you answer a lot of questions!
I can also see how I'll want to review the resort and the dining plan when I get back. I totally understand how that will give me something to do occupy me for awhile after we get back. Not sure we'll be back for another couple of years. Would like to wait until my two year old is at least four, if not five. This will depend on my DF's declining health, as I'd love our first trip with our son to be grand gathering! We'll see... Going to completely enjoy this trip first!:banana:

So excited!!! Just got off the phone with Chad, we are booked to go back to the best resort at Disney in July!!!!!!

We had a wonderful time at CSR at the Grainger Convention 1-17-19/2010. We stayed in Ranchos 6A. We enjoyed it so much we booked for 4/13-20/2010. Dig pool/hot tub was closed but it was so cool out didn't use pool. DH was involved with convention so I was solo for dinner etc. Had opportunity to shop, go to dtd, get together with girlfriend etc. Told the kids(17,14) what a good time we had and they are very excited to use the pool, arcade etc. in April. Seems a little more grown up for them vs. POFQ or CBR. They can't wait for the water parks anyway. Bus transportation no problem. Didn't eat in Mayan Grill or Pepper Market. I had a quick breakfast sandwich in am and purchased refillable mug for myself for coffee, diet coke. The only problem was the Laguna Bar on Sunday 1/17. Just ignored. Went inside to Rix and received immediate service with a smile. Seemed like they were just overwhelmed or something. Would never deal with that again. Otherwise, switch to WL seamless, concierge helpful, quick grab & go friendly, bus no problem. Would definitely recommend to family and adults. Thanks for the fun and can't wait to go in April requested Ranchos courtyard view of cactus just beautiful and so different from the Northeast. Good value and reserved on a pin code. :goodvibes:goodvibes

Thanks for reporting back. So glad you enjoyed your stay at the CSR...so much so that you are going in April. The Ranchos are the only section we've not tried (we've done Casitas seven times and Cabanas once) and we definitely want to do Ranchos next time.

Hi Katmark. I've heard Casitas and Cabanas so I requested it at check-in, but was given Ranchos. Absolutely loved it. Conventioners seemed to occupy the Casitas, Cabanas. Ranchos has a wonderful quiet pool. DH actually used it on 1/18/10 and was not the only one!! I was chicken. He said it was wonderful and it truly was pretty at night. Would not like a parking lot view unless I had my own vehicle. The view of the cactus and southwest setting was just awesome. Enjoyed the walk at night and the resort is lit up beautifully. Something for everyone here. I even used the laundry( had to!!) Needless to say, I was the only one in there. Put the stuff on, walked to fill my mug, and came back--made waiting a breeze while enjoying the scenery. So excited to go again (on a pin code). Requested 6a again no parking lot view. Please cross your fingers for us as kids will be with us this time. :goodvibes:goodvibes

Th is is so great to hear! We are definitely going to request Ranchos next trip -- I just think the cactus and rocks are very pretty. We rent a car so we aren't really fussy on where we are because we drive everywhere. We've been fortunate in all of our stays and never had a parking lot view -- always the lake or the courtyards. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you and the kids and please come back with another GREAT report. :woohoo:

I've decided not to make any room requests for our July trip. :scared1: We've stayed in Casitas and Cabanas, and Ranchos would be fine too, so we are just going to see what we get. DH hasn't seen the new rooms in person yet - hope he loves them as much as the rest of us do.

When we got back from AKL, DD7 wanted to know when we could go back to CSR - she said it is her favorite. She was happy to know it is soon! :cool1:
