Guys, I'm sorry I've not responded. My computer has been out of commission for three weeks and Andy's went down yesterday (needs a new motorboard or adapter) so I could not get on last night. I'm super busy today at work, but will respond as soon as I can.

My family is going to CSR early next month. I simply cannot decide what location at CSR would be best for us. I know the requests are just that but if I'm going to request a specific location, I want to try and make sure it's the best spot for us. We have a 3 yr and an 18 month old. Since it's February, I doubt we'll spend much time at any of the pools unless we really luck out and get some outstanding warm weather!! Any suggestions any of you could provide would be much appreciated!!! Thanks in advance!:)

Hi,
We went March last year with our 4 and 10 year old and my 4 year old niece. They loved swimming but preferred the quiet pools.

I would suggest near a bus stop as we found this was the place we went to most.
When we went to El Centro we just walked slowly, enjoyed the views and let the girls mess about in the sand, look for lizards and of course Glen (if that's what we are still calling the alligator!!)

Lots of people seem to hate the rancho's and I wasn't keen on being there but that is where we were put and we loved it!!

We are visiting again in February too. HAVE A MAGICAL TIME!!:banana:

Okay...I'm here and have a few minutes to catch up before back to work (hopefully will have my computer at home back tonight)

KatMark,

Thanks so much. I don't mind at all that you use that photo. This is my first good sunrise that I have been able to get.

Thank you...I've putting the photo as my desktop picture today because I am already tired of looking at the snow and we are getting 14 inches today!

I'm getting so excited for May!!! thanks everyone for all the wonderful, helpful info :)

Welcome...and thanks. We hope you love CSR half as much as we do.

So, my DH and I just got back from a weekend in Boston, taking our DS to the Boston Children's Hospital. Everything is OK, but it made me realize that I have NO idea how much to tip hotel workers. I always tip 20% for waiters and waitresses...but how much do you tip bellmen? what about room service? Do you tip the same amount for a buffet that you would for a sit-down meal?

We are generous tippers, but we don't want to be ridiculous, either.

Thanks.

Tina, I'm glad to hear that DS is okay...you gave me a scare there. We carry our own luggage, but when Mark travels alone, I think he gives like $2 a bag; we leave Mousekeeping $5 a day when we are at the CSR.

Major props to you! You have done an outstanding job of giving out information regarding CSR. Something worth noting....................when someone is trying to decide between CSR and a different resort, you never throw the other resort under the buss. :thumbsup2

Keep up the good work and thank you for doing what you do, it is very much appreciated.

Thank you for the exceptionally nice thoughts and words. You warmed my heart today.

If you aren't worried about the pool, I would request Casitas 3, 4 or 5--all close to the first bus stop picked up and dropped off (when doing the parks) and a short walk--especially Casitas 3--to the main building (registration, food, gift shop, etc.).

We are staying at CSR for the first time in April, and I could not be more excited. We have stayed deluxe and value, but the pictures of CSR look fabulous. This thread definitely helped me make my resort decision. Thanks everyone........You all ROCK!!!!!

Welcome. We've done deluxe in the past, but CSR has become our home away from home -- it has everything we want (including queen beds) so we don't have to spend the deluxe prices anymore. :)

Well, we're off to CSR tomorrow:banana: Just wanted to say thanks for all the information here. It definitely helped us in choosing a resort. We requested a room in Casitas 4 or 5 for proximity to the bus stop. Between Marathon Weekend and some conventions/competitions going on I expect CSR will be packed this weekend, so we'll be happy with whatever room we get. I'll be sure to take lots of pictures to share. Thanks again for all the info:thumbsup2

Jessica, I hope you have a most magical vacation. And here is some pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust: that you get a room in Casitas 4. Have fun and we'll await your report when you get back.

I just wanted to say thanks so much to everyone who has posted information on this thread. Depending on the situation with pins/deals and our personal situation come this fall - we'll be deciding between value and mod. I think this thread has quite nearly convinced me that CSR will be the mod we choose, if we choose mod.

Just wanted to say I've been reading & appreciating!:goodvibes

Thanks; I'm glad you've enjoyed the thread. Please feel free to come back with any questions you might have and we will try to help.

Does anyone know anything about the CMSA (Case Management Society of America) convention in June being held at CSR?
CMSA will be there the last part of my trip. I looked up there website and found that in 2008 their convention had 3000 attendies.
Can CSR even accomadate that many?
Good thing I booked early. I looked on Disney reservation site and all the standard rooms are taken or booked on hold for that time frame.
I sure hope CSR will not be overrun. Their convention schedule for each day is only about 3-4 hours each day, so I'm assuming the conventioneer will have alot of free time to be at CSR and parks in the late afternoon/evening.
Does anyone one out there belong to CMSA?

CSR has 1917 rooms and suites. The dates are June 8-11. If you're there at that time, avoid the restaurants right at lunch. Of course, some conventions provide meals in the conference center. It may be more crowded than other conventions because some kids are out of school and families may accompany the conventioneers.

Can anyone tell me about the club level services at CSR for conventions/conferences? I will be there in March with my oldest son, friend and her daughter and just want to know how it works.

Have a great time! And please post about whether you got Casitas 4 or 5. I requested Casitas 5 or Cabana 8A or 8B, and am now thinking I should have requested Casitas 3 or 4 instead to be a little closer to El Centro. Would love to hear how things worked out for you!

Club Level is ONLY available to convention guests. The convention host would have to arrange to have this available to their guests.

Sorry about that part of my post didn't show up. I will be there for a convention and read about the club level service on the first page. Any guesses as to who I would call to find out if this is included-group reservations at Disney?? Should I still put in a room request for a specific area?

Thanks for the suggestions! I think we're going to opt for requesting Casitas 4 or 5. Can't wait. Less than a month now!!! So much to do but I know it'll be so worth it. I cannot wait to see my girls' faces light up when we get there!

First of all, thanks Kat for your concern about my DS. He's fine, just has an eye problem that is not a big deal, just requires a little special attention because he's only two!

And...also...:cool1::cool1::cool1:...we received our first official mail for our February trip: our DME luggage stickers and info! Yay! Finally...some good mail to come home to! I just cannot believe we'll be at CSR in only a litte more than a month! And if I only count school days (I'm a teacher)...we're down to 20!!!!

I keep reading on other threads that CSR doesn't feel "as Disney." After looking at all the pictures I could find and seeing the topiary, fountains, beautiful landscaping, dig site, pool, and rooms with Mickey on the bedspreads, pillow, and mirror, and the various Three Caballeros paintings...how is CSR not "Disney?" Just wondering what others find less Disney?

Thoughts?

I have NEVER understood this. I tend to thinkn it is because people see it as a Convention Reosrt. However, you don't hear this about the Contemporary, or the GF or other "convention" resorts. Personally, after a day at the parks, I don't need "huge icons" or "nemo rooms". I want to relax and unwind so I can start again the next day. There are plenty of "subtle touches" of Disney at the CSR--just enough to make me happy.

I think when compared with the value resorts it may come across as less Disney. Since I haven't stayed at a value, I can't say this with 100% accuracy. My feeling is based upon having seen pictures of the gigantic icons throughout those resorts. My family has always felt that CSR does feel like Disney. We love it!

Does paying the premium price for a CSR king bed room also offer assurance that the view from the room will not be of a parking lot? Or are these rooms randomly scattered throughout the resort offering varied views?
