I am looking at the maps for CSR and it looks like Cabana 8A woudl be awesome from a Pool adn Bus Stop perspective....but a bit of a walk to the food

Does anyone know if its a 5 minute walk? 10 minutes? 15 minutes?

I would guess 5-10 minutes at most. I like to stay in cabanas 9b and it's not a long walk

It's only about a 5 min. walk to El Centro (where guest services and the restaurants are) AND IMO it's a nice, relaxing walk enjoying the scenery:thumbsup2

Cabanas 9B is changing to a club level building only.

Cabanas 8A is an excellent location, we stayed there in 2007 and have put in a request for the same building in 2009.

Enjoy CSR!

Cabana 8a will be my new favorite now that 9b is club level only. That was the second building we stayed in. Veru close to bus stop #4 and a short walk to the main building. Its only steps from the main pool.

WALK
The distance around the whole lake is just under a mile (.97 miles).

Walking Distances
From El Centro moving clockwise around the lake path to:
Casitas 3 = .16 miles
Casitas 4 = .24 miles
Casitas 5 = .27 miles
Ranchos = .46 miles

From El Centro to the Dig Site, via the bridge near the Cabanas
= .35 miles

From El Centro moving counterclockwise around the lake to:
Cabanas 9B = .16 miles
Cabanas 9A/8B = .22 miles
Cabanas 8A = .31 miles
Rancho 7b = .35 miles

We stayed in Cabanas (sorry I can't remember the building) and it was, we thought a LONG walk. it was definately NOT 5 or 10 minutes. There were many nights we wanted to grab a diet coke of coffee but neither DH & I couldn't motivate ourselves to do the 'walk' after being in the parks with the kids all day. :sad2:

5-10 mins tops from the cabanas. Its under a mile to walk the whole path around the lake and most people can walk a mile in 20 mins or less.

Cabanas 9B = .16 miles
Cabanas 9A/8B = .22 miles
Cabanas 8A = .31 miles

perception and reality can differ.

I stayed there and it felt like everything was a really long walk. I never did make it to the main pool!!! It was definitely too far to run back for a drink or a coffee. Forget spontaneous. I won't be back. It is pretty at night and Buzz's pictures show that and I had a great massage there. It just is too big for me. Maybe if I was 25 again.

This is why I am having second thoughts on this resort, hope I can get POFQ before I go in Feb. I know everything is CLOSE over at that resort!;)

DH and I are 55 and 50 and we don't mind the walk. We stay in Casitas 4 or 5 and it takes five minutes to the Main Building and about eight minutes to the main pool. We walk the resort EVERY night after being at the parks all day. It just depends on what you think you are capable of doing after being at the parks. It doesn't bother us.

While not the most convienent, dont forget you can hop a bus back to el centro if you want if you are close to a bus stop. Hop and park bus as stop #1 will be the last stop, to get back to your room hop the DTD bus. And with the exception of POFQ, remember ALL moderate resorts, heck, all disney resorts are pretty large and if you are in a farther away place it will take some time to get to the main area if you walk.

We bought DVC yesterday, and are at SSR now, and that can be a big walk if you are in one the distant buildings. So just to be fair, it's not just CSR that can be a long walk.

We love CSR's theming, but the Mrs went with me on the DVC tour, and I was simply amazed a) at the sizes of the rooms, and b) amazed at her reaction of 'why didnt we sign up at the end of our tour?'. :scared1: So went back the next day and took the plunge at the new AKV2. I will still suggest CSR, and will use CSR for any non DVC trip. People say they always found the employees un friendly etc etc, man I found just the opposite!

Last visit, we stayed in Cabanas 8B. It was close to the pool and El Centro. It was not a far walk at all to either spot. And the park you do actually have to walk provides beautiful scenery.

My DD is an Avery, too!

We have stayed at CSR twice, and it is our favorite resort. We like the Ranchos section, which is the furthest from El Centro. It took us between 10-15 minutes when walking, but that was walking at a 3 yr olds pace and looking at turtles, ducks, lizards, etc. The few times we didn't feel like walking, we did use the bus option. This is very convenient to get to El Centro, but unless it is evening, the DTD buses can be quite a wait.

We are booked for POFQ for next Oct, and I am hoping a standard room at CSR will open up!

Avery is a beautiful name - its becoming quite popular - she has 2 other Averys in her school.

We stayed in 8A in Dec 2007 and we loved it. About a 7 minute walk over to El Centro (using the shortcut bridge). The bus stop was about 3 minutes walk and the Dig Site was just opposite.
Also, I was worried about the noise from the pool, but we didn't have any problems for the whole trip. You could just about hear the music they play in the background in the day - I thought it made it quite atmospheric!
Enjoy your trip :)
