Corkage fee how does it work?

With out intending to stir up debate I have a couple of quick questions about HOW the corkage fees work.(please, please, please, not why or whether or not they should)
1. Anyone know what the current fee is?
2. What is the taxation percent - is it 15% or 18% etc?
3. Is there an automatic gratuity added to it as well as the tax?
4. If I want to drink the same bottle on 2 different nights am I charged corkage once or twice?
5. If I ask to borrow a corkscrew to open and enjoy a bottle in my stateroom, can I, and if so will I be charged corkage?
6. If I chose to enjoy a bottle I carried on in my stateroom, can I request a wine glass from room service? And if so what fees are attached?

You can drink wine in room and there is no charge to have a wine glass brought to your room. On our cruise I had asked our room host for a glasses to be brought to the room and was told that I had to order glasses from room service.

I also asked for a corkscrew but the host did not have one. I bought an inexpensive one in port. I now will pack my own.

You are only charged once for the corkage fee and gratuity is added on. You can use the bottle a second night and will not be charged again.

Sorry I don't have the current charge for corkage fee but someone else will I am sure.

The corkage fee is not a fee to for the actual physical act of opening the bottle, it is more a fee they charge since you are not buying their wine. I only say this because some have asked if there would be a charge if they opened the bottle themselves and brought it to the dining room.

1) Corkage fee is $25.
2) Don't know for sure but I didn't think tax was charged on the corkage fee.
3) I'm not sure if auto-gratuity is applied, but if it is, it would be 15%.
4) You are only charged the corkage fee once. You can either ask for your server to store the bottle for you or take it back to your stateroom.
5) You will not be charged a corkage fee for requesting a corkscrew. I called room service and they delivered two wine glasses with a corkscrew.
6) Yes, you can get wine glasses from room service and there's no fee, although I did tip the person who delivered the glasses and corkscrew a couple dollars.

You can ask your room steward to bring you wine glasses. Ours brought us 4 Saran wrapped to a plate. He removed the ones we used and brought more later in the trip. We remembered his efforts at the end of the cruise. We brought our own cork-screw in our checked bags.

I think if you have your own corkscrew, you can get the glasses from the stateroom host. But if you need a corkscrew, you need to call room service. On the first cruise I carried wine onto, I asked my stateroom host for a corkscrew and wine glasses. He told me he could get me the glasses but I would need to call room service for the corkscrew. Room service brought me two glasses and the corkscrew. After that, I've always called room service. The stateroom hosts have always switched out the used glasses for clean ones though.

$25 wow! it would have to be a nice bottle of wine to make that worth your while. Maybe champagne. I bet that is expensive on board.

We are not wine/champagne drinkers, but on our cruise in 2015, my in laws were given a bottle of champagne by a Disney Castmember for a celebration of their anniversary. We still had to pay the $25 fee even though Disney gave us the bottle! No big deal, just kind of surprised us when they gave us the bill.

Wow! I would have definitely questioned that. That doesn't seem right. Did the server who gave you the bill with the corkage fee know it was a Disney CM who gave your in-laws the bottle? I'm just wondering if there was some miscommunication between castmembers that led to the charge.

We once got a bottle of wine from DCL for a service issue an der asked about bringing it to dinner. We were told that of course in those cases the corkage fee would be waived and we were never charged the fee. I think you got wrong information there and they should not have charged you. It really is kind of taking away the benefit of the free bottle. I am glad that you feel that it was not a big deal, but am sorry that you got such bad service.

That was definitely in error. We get the Platinum gift of wine every cruise and bring it to the dining room and were never charged the corking fee. I just say it is my platinum gift from Disney and we never had an issue.

We told our server where we got the bottle. Even took it to dinner on their actual anniversary. Not sure why we got charged, yeah kind of makes the complimentary bottle null. lol But like I said, no biggie, but we will remember that for the next time.

Just to point out Room Service will deliver wine glasses and a corkscrew for free , but open your bottle of wine and leave with their corkscrew. (Or course we tipped). I'd recommend bringing a corkscrew in your checked luggage. However if you are flying carry on you'll need to call for help to open each bottle.
