Things are starting to fall into place. I think the final decision about the dress has been made. I ended up having to get a new dress for semi-formal night for my next cruise as one of the straps on my existing semi-formal dress snapped when I put it on during our Transatlantic cruise. I ended up having a dress custom made in China. Mine is royal blue satin with black lace. I am posting the photos from the website as they show the detail:
Here are photos of my actual semi-formal dress:
Anyway, the dress is absolutely gorgeous and really suits me. As it is custom made, you can have all kinds of colours. I decided that I will have the same dress made with ivory satin and ivory lace. I am hoping that the lace will be similar to the one on my dress.
I have also sorted out the flower girl dresses. I have asked the two girls of my dear friend Michelle to be my flower girls. We have been looking at different options and we all (including the two girls) love this dress:
One of them will have it in the same colour as in the photos and the other one will have it in purple. Again, they will be custom made in China.
I am hoping that Disney can provide flowers in pink, purple and white as this would just tie everything together nicely.
I also seem to have made inroads on the wedding ring front. Our wedding rings no longer fit and we have not worn them in over a year. Mine is too loose after losing weight and Graham's hand quite often swells after a motorbike accident back in 2003 and then the ring is to tight. My original plan was to go to Dubai in early summer and get wedding rings there. However, I had a look online and found two different kinds of wedding rings that I absolutely love. I wanted silver coloured rings anyway as I don't really wear yellow gold and I had been looking at white cold. These rings are Titanium, which should be better with my metal allergies as well.
Looks like the jewellery for the big day is under control, too. I have a favourite jewellery artist in New Hampshire, who has made all my jewellery to go with my formal night dresses for me. Under normal circumstances I would not have hesitated to ask her to do my jewellery for the vow renewal as well, but she is heavily pregnant at the moment and will go on maternity leave shortly before Christmas and for the first three months of next year.
For the last three years or so I have had a monthly subscription where I get a pair of earrings and two other pieces of jewellery per month. One is based on my preferences and the other based on the theme that she had set for the year, with a different theme every month. Well, when I got back from my vacation, I had an email from her saying that the thematic part of the subscription will be discontinued after October of this year. She gave me the option of reducing the monthly cost and getting just two instead of the three pieces or keep the subscription level as it is, still do two pieces of jewellery, but make them larger/ more elaborate. This is the option that I have gone for. We have agreed that she will make me a cuff bracelet, fancy earrings and some kind of hair ornament for the vow renewal. We will then sort out the necklace and the tiara via custom work once she is back from maternity leave.
Wow, that was a long update.
