Corelle dishes?

I love my Correlle! Have had several patterns over the years and now have a white pattern with green ivy around the ages.
As far as round or square plates and white plates vs. almost covered with a color or pattern: diet gurus say to always use a white, round, smaller than dinner size plate . It tricks your brain into thinking you are getting more food. Doesn':rotfl2:t work with my brain since my stomache overturns the brain!

I think our dishes we had at home were corelle they had yellow/orange flower design and bowls were white with just brown stripe. than we had a few lunch plate in almond with peach heart and light blue trim. here at my house we have holly design platter and few dinner plate with some design.

My mom has severe arthritis and she lives with us for four months out of the year. My plates were too heavy for her to lift comfortably. A few years ago, I decided to get one set of Corelle dishes to make things easier for her. I ended up loving them so much that I replaced all my other dishes with Corelle!

We have ceramic tile in our kitchen and they do shatter if dropped but we don't drop our plates very often, thankfully. They are pretty strong because we have knocked them against our granite counter tops on many occasions and never had them break.

I have a question about Corelle dishes...

After a few years do they get those gray lines on the plates from fork/knife scratches? I have had solid white Pottery Barn porcelain dishes for 5 years and I love them but they are just now starting to show the gray marks on them. I suspect after a couple more years I will want to replace them...IF I can find dishes that don't show the gray marks! I only like solid white dishes, I can't stand patterns on dinnerware.

I have had my Old Towne Blue set for almost 40 yrs now and still love it, only broke one plate years ago, wrote to them and they sent me a new one right away. Not one breakage in several military moves and many moves before and after the military. Best buy ever. Still love them.

Mine are two years old and don't have any marks on them. I wish I could say that about my Fiesta!

I've had mine for about four years and there aren't any scratches or marks. That was one of the things I hated about my Fiestaware and Pfaltzgraff.

I had my original set of plain white for over 15 years and they never had grey scratches from forks/knives. I did end up replacing them with a newer (used) set I bought from a garage sale because the edges were getting a bit rough. I think it was mostly from the dishwasher though, because my mom has the identical set and hers are still in perfect condition ... and she handwashes everything (no dishwasher and wouldn't have one).

I echo all the positive comments here, but I think the feature I like most is the way they nicely stack/fit in the cupboard and in the dishwasher. :thumbsup2

Another Corelle dish lover here. Everyone else has already covered why they are so awesome so I won't repeat all that. No scratches or marks at all on mine and we've had them for years :thumbsup2

Everyone I know has corelle and loves them. thats what I asked my parents for when they asked what I wanted for my birthday. they bought the ones i wanted from walmart online they have the fines lines one(has a black and rred line swirl on a square white plate) two 16 piece sets for $98(uasually they are $60 a piece)my parents did pick me up a few of the 28oz bowls(they are a good soup bowl) hth

I've got the same problem with the rough edges and some minor chipping on mine. It happened to both my older plates (16 years old) and my newer (maybe 3 years old) plates. After a lot of research I came to the conclusion that it's from my new dishwasher. It is really powerful and because they are so lightweight it must really rough them up while it's running. I'm so sad that my plates are like this now - I had a limited edition pattern to begin with. I now wash them on the china cycle to decrease the chance of them getting worse. This is my 4th dishwasher and the first time I've had this problem. I think we've broken 2 plates in 16 years.

For anyone who might know - do they have a current Christmas pattern? I bought some Christmas dishes (not Corelle) a few years ago and wished I hadn't. A few pieces chipped the first time we used them. They are really heavy and I hate to get them out knowing they might chip even more.

Another Corelle lover here. We've had our main set since 1997 and haven't broken a single one and there are no scratches, chips, or marks on any of them. I also took my Grandma's set when she died. They are much older than me. Probably from back when they started to make them. Grandma never replaced things unless they were broke and unrepairable so I wouldn't be surprised to hear she got them when she got married! LOL! I don't know how far back the company goes? Hers are just as good as new though even if the old green pattern on the edge isn't the most current. Makes me think of her every time I use them so I don't mind too much!

I have had my Corelle for 28 years and broken 3 plates, which were easily replaced with open stock. Count me in with those who are getting tired of my pattern!

When my daughter got married, I searched for Made in the USA dishes and the only two I could find were Corelle and Fiestaware. She opted for the Corelle because they take up much less space and lighter and hardier to pack and move frequently (she is in the Army).

The coffee cups that come in the Corelle boxed sets are NOT made in the usa, which makes no sense at all. Would love to see Corelle change that.

I love Corelle dishes. They are lightweight, don't break easily (but if you drop them on the tile they shatter into a zillion pieces - I speak from experience), and stay looking really nice.

I bought my plain white ones with a scalloped edge almost 30 years ago and they still look brand new and we use them every day. I have replaced them over the years with ones I find at yard sales. Mine have been lost not broken! My kids tend to take them and never return them!

Every couple of years I think I will get new dishes and look around and never find any I like any better so I just keep my old ones!

I have the plain white set in our owner's locker. Love them.

plain white would also be easy to chanage the look with other placemats etc.

Love mine. Had them for 14 years. Drop them all the time. Once in a great while one will hit just right and break. Wal-Mart carries them and Replacing one is always reasonable.

We picked the white with scalloped edges 18 years ago and they are still going strong. We've broken a few over the years when they've hit the floor or counter the right way. But I love then, both my mom and grandmother use them too. My MiL liked mine so much she got some too.

I don't think I have any grey marks on my corelle but my coffee mugs( not Corelle) get them sometimes. Every so often I clean then with the Comet liquid gel. It's not abrasive and does a great job.
