Corelle dishes?

We have had 2 sets in 23 years of marriage. I love my newer set of white plates with black squares around the edge. We got another matching set when I found it on clearance at Walmart so I could have extra of everything. We have never broken one.

I also love my corelle dishes! I went through 3 sets of dishes before going to walmart and getting them! Should have just gone with them to begin with! I had fiestaware and hated how heavy they were. They also seemed to chip easily. Also had a set from Disney, again, super heavy and the finish was ruined. My other set was corelle but my mom's and from when I was a kid. I hated the pattern and that is when I finally went and bought my own. I have the white with blue stripe and love them!

HA, I have my guest dishes, and then i have my corelle! I have some newer white with black trim and some REALLLLLLYYY old ones with a green flower pattern, circa 1970's. lol I love them. My parents were visiting a couple weeks ago and my mom literally shattered one of my guest dinner plates on our tile kitchen floor. I still am finding shards from that. Where as the corelle has been dropped by all of us at one time and not one has broken, not even the ones that are 30/40 years old! They may been inexpensive, but they stand the test of time. Unlike my Pier 1 plate.

I don't NEED new dishes, although they are starting to chip and show the fork lines. But after reading through this thread, I think I WANT some Corelle. I'll be adding them to my Christmas wish list, which is great because it is so hard for me to come up with a list for my kids every year. Thanks everyone.

We love them! But I might be a little biased, I work in the town where they are made and am a bit of a glass nut. They are very durable and the best part is they are made right here in the USA! (unfortunately a lot of the mugs and other accessories are not , but the plates, bowls, platters etc are..)

Hi!!!

Love my correlle ! I still have a set from over 20 years ago! Now I just purchased the square solid white because I love Corelle even though my kids have grown up!

FYI - I found a great website from Corning where they even have some discontinued patterns - www.shopworldkitchen.com (I found some serving pieces too for my set!) and usually have great bargains and holiday sales (now one is going on for free shipping I believe until Sunday for July 4th)

I'm thinking about getting new kitchen dishes.

I like that Corelle dishes take up very little room in the cabinet.

Does anyone really love or hate their kitchen dishes?

Any words of wisdom on picking a small pattern or large, colorful pattern that's covers almost the entire plate?

How well do the plates that are square and not round fit in the dishwasher?

Had to have the whole set of Platzgraft and did like them and then they seemed heavier and heavier.. so decided going to go try Corelle and got the all white and absolutely love them if they stain from something I use either soft scrub on them or bleach the cups...had now 4 years and look like new and they so light weight. for me was great choice and Grand daughter tickled she got all that heavy Platzgraft...so all happy now

Probably about 20 years old...we use the white bowls w/ a green edge from our Xmas...but only 4 of those left Felt it was my best bet w/ kids--didn't want them using my good Denby.
They are crazy durable--BUT when they hit just right, they don't just break, they SHATTER--my only complaint.

I'm a Corelle lover, too, and I have to agree with those that state the propensity to shatter when they break. I discovered quite by accident that I think microwaving them causes them to be brittle. It's not a scientific study by any means, just an observation. So, i try to not microwave in them anymore.

I still love them though!

I am lucky, in 23 years I have never had one break. My stepdad broke one when I lived at home, as did my dad when I was younger, and yes they sure did shatter, but I haven't had that fun yet! (knock on wood)
