I'm taking the family down to WDW next month and have reservation at Ohanas for dinner. We have eaten and have enjoyed Ohanas every time we go. We will be spending the day at Epcot and probably returning for the Illuminations at night. So we were considering switching to the Coral Sea restaurant instead of Ohanas. What are your thoughts. Our family consists of DW, DS8, DS5, DS2 and DD9 mos and myself. Thanks for your help!! pirate:

We just ate at Coral Reef on December 19th. We had read varying reviews about this restaurant, but went in with an open mind. This restaurant ended up being our favorite meal of the entire trip. The food was absolutely fantastic! In our party, we had four adults ranging from 29 to 50+ and three kids, ages 5 months, 4 years, and 7 years. Everyone enjoyed their meal, including the non-fish eaters. My husband had the steak and it was SO delicious. I had a shrimp pasta which was also delicious. Another adult in our party had the king crab legs and he still gets giddy when we mention them. They were THAT good! Our waiter was terrific and we also had a wonderful view of the aquarium. Coral reef has now made it to our "must do" list of restaurants when we visit Disney World.
We also visited Ohana for dinner one night. We are big Ohana fans and unfortunately were very disappointed in our meal that night. The meats were all dry and crisp. The appetizers and sides have also changed quite a bit and were nothing great. We have actually taken Ohana off of our list for awhile.
So, I would recommend you go ahead and change the reservation to Coral Reef. I hope you enjoy your meal as much as everyone in our party did. Have a nice trip!

When my DD (6) and I ate ate the Coral Reef in 2005 it was one of our favorite's! We sat right next to the aquarium and she just loved seeing all the fish. I had the steak which was fabulous and a chocolate dessert which still makes my mouth water! I can't remember what my DD had but I know she gobbled it down too! We went right when the opened for lunch and had no problems getting a table right next to the aquarium. Have a super time!:yay:

Ok I really did enjoy Coral Reef when we were there. It was really, really good, esp the Chocolate Wave. YUMMY!!! A child can also order a NY Strip Steak, which is pretty cool. But hands down O'Hana's is our favorite and must do each trip. In fact when we return to Disney this Aug. we HAVE to go back because DS fell asleep there and slept through the whole meal.

For what it's worth, we (Me, The Mrs., DS1 & DS2) ate at both restaurants in January 2007. Of the two, I would favor Coral Reef over Ohana. The kids really liked looking at the tank and it helped pass the time by doing a version of "I Spy" with all the wonderful fish in the tank. The food was very good, although I see they have discontinued the Ahi Tuna Steak with Wasabi Mashed Potatoes that I ordered. That was fantastic! :confused3
The Mrs. had the Mahi Mahi and was very pleased with it. Along with a couple of Glow-tini's, that Chocolate Wave dessert capped off a perfect meal!
I was a disappointed in Ohana. I was expecting more due to the many positive reviews I had read prior to going there. The Maui scalloped potates tasted like they came from Betty Crocker and the stirfried vegetables were straight from Birdseye: mush. :sad1: . The salad had little to no dressing. And the meats were overdone. I couldn't tell the difference between the beef, the pork and the turkey. Maybe we went on an off night, but there are other restaurants we will be going to before we go back to Ohana...

Coral Reef!!!!

We dined there in October and I was concerned with some of the reviews I had read. I loved it! The steak was wonderful and I still dream about the chocolate wave. Yum! I also liked the bread they served. And the atmosphere (We sat right across from the aquarium) can't be beat. Loved it!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
