Coral Reef Menu/Diver for 2009?

I wanted to set up a personalized menu and diver at Coral Reef for my kids in January 2009 (our first trip!), but was told that was part of the 2008 Year of a Million Dreams event. Debbi, the Area Manager, said Disney is in negotiations for 2009 and have something planned, but, Disney being Disney, she couldn't tell me what it was (understandably so). She expects an announcement in December from Disney and told me to email her then. Does Disney really wait until December to announce plans for the following year? I just don't want to miss this opportunity.

Last year at this same time I tried to arrange a menu/diver for my dh also. Debi, who is very nice, explained to me that she didn't know until Dec what Disney was going to do. She asked for my phone number and told me she would call me in December. Well I know people get busy so I figured I wouldn't hear from her and totally forgot about it. Well SHE CALLED IN DECEMBER just like she said she would and set up the diver for me. She told me to email pictures for her to put in a menu. It was the highlight of my dh;s trip. He is still talking about it. I think Debi is awesome and I am probably one of her biggest fans. LOL
So I guess in answer to your question last year they waited until December to decide what they were going to do and it worked out for us.

Great, thanks! She told me to email her in December, but like you, I was skeptical that she would actually get back to me. It sounds like she'll definitely take care of this for me the way she said she would.

I also emailed Debbie a month ago regarding a menu in January. She said she would touch base with me December. Hopefully we shouldn't have anything to worry about.

Depending on availability, you can work the Coral Reef management to have personalized menus made - including pictures of you/your family and a special message. Also, the divers that swim in the tanks will sometimes hold up signs, "Happy Birthday Joe", "Will You Marry Me?", etc. that the diners can see.

My daughter & I dove there several years ago and loved going to the Coral Reef window to wave at the people and hold up signs. My daughter play rock paper scissors with a couple of kids. She was 12 or 13 at the time and had a blast.

It's pretty fun for everyone at the restaurant when a diver shows up. This was not for me, but still fun to see. Throughout the restaurant you could hear a collective "ooh" and "ohhh." And, believe it or not, it's free.

I have this number in my notes: 407-560-6279. I ended up not arranging anything, so I don't know if the number is correct, but thought you could use it as a starting place.

Thank you but I have called this number several times as well and left messages. No one has gotten back to me. I called again yesterday. Nothing. I will keep trying but I am getting more and more concerned.

Keep working on getting a hold of someone, but your trip is 2 months away, I would not get concerned. Have you called the restaurant directly?

I contacted Debbi about setting up a Diver/Personalized Menu for my January reservation at Coral Reef and received an email today stating they will not be offering the diver or the personalized menus for 2009. Looks like the recession is affecting Disney as well. I hope they don't cut out all the magic that I was anticipating when I booked my vacation months ago.
