So we are going to have lunch at the Coral Reef, and noticed on allearsnet a $20 lunch special with soup or sald, catch of the day, and cheesecake. has anyone had this? can you give me an example of a catch of the day? i have heard that coral reef desserts are amazing, but nobody has mentioned if the cheesecake is anything special. has anyone had this? thanks

bumping, interesting question.

Never heard of this.

herc.

I did see another poster post that instead of the catch of the day you could have the chicken sandwhich which they ordered. They said they were disappointed because they were expecting a cold chicken salad sandwhich and it actually came out warm and they did not enjoy it.

It seems that the Coral Reef is now updating their menu about every 6 months or so. A lot of Disney restaurants are doing this. What a great idea!!!! It gives us something new to try every time we go!!! Anyway, I don't think the Diver Special is on the menu anymore.

We had lunch there on Sept 18, and the Diver's Special was not on the menu. In the past I did have the special, and thought it was a great value. There were 2 entree choices I believe, and as I recall the cheesecake was pretty good and changed from time to time. I don't know if they have removed the special from the menu permanently :confused3

It wasn't on the menu 10/1.

BTW - We had a great meal there. All 3 of us thought it was the best we had all week, and none of the meals we had were bad. :)

I agree, this was the best meal we had last week, which really surprised me! I didn't care much for the shrimp cocktail but that's because I'd seen picutures of it before they changed the menu and they were HUGE and looked incredible. Now you get several smaller ones and while they were okay, there sure wasn't anything special about it. Next time I'd order a different appetizer.

I ordered the mahi mahi and it was the BEST mahi mahi I've ever eaten! And the Chocolate Wave for dessert was...pure extasy!

DD8 & I were sharing - we tried the Lobster soup, tilapia, and Choc. Wave (which we'd had before & loved).

The tilapia was good, but I would have been happy with just the soup & dessert : the soup was great - we ended up paying OOP for an extra bowl of it because there just wasn't enough to share.

Wonder if I could get a large bowl of soup instead of an entree? :)

Oh that reminds me! DD8's meal came with a small cup of soup (or a "vegetable salad") which I ate (she won't touch seafood). YUMMY!!!! But I still think the corn & crab chowder at CRT was better (but they were both great!)
