Copper Creek or Poly?

Bought Copper Creek last week but did not sign the contract yet and now my guide told me my 75 points Poly wait list is cleared with the same October UseYear I want.

What should I do? Buy 75 Poly at 220$ or take the cheaper one at CCV? Poly is cheaper on the Due but require more points for studio; to be fair, Poly's studio is much bigger than CCV. CCV is new but with highest due in WDW and not on monorail.

I am new to DVC and have never stayed at any DVC or deluxe resort. Thanks,

CCV has higher dues. Poly only has Studios and Bungalows. I don't think you can go wrong with either one. They are both lovely. Good Luck.

Sounds like you prefer Poly so I’d buy there. Although I personally prefer CCV

It's just a personal preference really. I'd go with CCV but if you'd rather stay at Poly buy there.

We were faced with the same decision and ended up choosing Poly back in December. Part of the deciding factor was that I could get it at 163.50/pt after incentives before the price increase....that said, I think we would have chosen it anyway as we have a family of 4, with the thought of bringing my mom along every now and then, so the ability to sleep 5 is huge. To do that at CC, we would have had to do at least a 2br. If I want a 2br, or 1br, I'll go to SSR or OKW or AKL. The Studio and convenience will be perfect for us, even after kids are long gone, so the choice actually ended up pretty easy.

Are you deciding between the guaranteed CCV week or 75pts at Poly? Or 75pts at either? I agree with others it depends on personal preference. A few of my +/-

Poly
+ Walking distance to TTC gives you easy access to MK, Epcot, and other resorts (via bus)
+ Large studios that fit 5 with 2 bathrooms
+ Lower MF compared to CCV
- I find the resort crowded compared to WL (there are more non-hotel guests coming to visit the resort and restaurants)
- Rooms are expensive point wise, especially compared to CCV
- No 1BR or 2BR options (I too came into DVC thinking I was studio only, but... haha)

CCV
+ Quieter resort than Poly and many other resorts
+ Small resort, so I think owning here will be important to stay here (particularly in studios)
+ Love the quiet pool and new quick service here
- Small studios that only sleep 4
- High MF (though this is offset by the low point chart)
- Bus transportation to 3 parks, the boat option to MK is nice although the efficiency varies a lot (I've waited a long time for a boat!)

Stating CCV has higher dues is partially misleading. Dues equals rate per point multipled by the points required for the room. If you were told there would be no math, that is incorrect. Math is required.

Both are exceptional resorts.

The real answer: Get VGF - the best of both worlds

We have purchased DVC at resorts prior to staying there, big mistake. We bought BLT before it opened, stayed there a few times, will never stay there again. You can read the pros and cons but until you stay there a few times you won't know if it feels like home.

Polynesian has a lot of points purchased by members hoping to get a studio (same issue at GFV). That leaves a lot of points to book the bungalows that might not be booked by Polynesian owners. You may need to book your Polynesian stay in a studio at 11 months out most of the time. If you want to stay in a Polynesian studio and can book your stay at 11 months out, buy there. If you think you want to book one bedrooms, the Polynesian has none. You share a washer and dryer with all the other guests at the Polynesian (except for the bungalows). You have a washer and dryer in your one bedroom at CCV. You only get a queen sized bed at the Polynesian in the studio. You get a king sized bed in the CCV one bedroom. Will 75 points give you the vacation you really want? Or do you need more? Right now it is getting harder to get those direct points at the Polynesian (you just went through that). You can add resale points, but you'll want to match the UY when you resale.

Well said. The location is the selling point. I just wished I have had the opportunity to buy at a lower price point

This was another motivating factor. Though many say they’ve been able to stay at Poly “whenever they wanted” without owning there, I believe that’s going to get harder and harder, so I wanted to be sure to have 11 month booking.

Not that any one year is an indicator, but I first had access to the availability tool in late December and Thanksgiving wouldn’t have been difficult. The first week of December was a different story. I’m anxious to see if it’s just a bunch of people holding out until the 7 month mark or if demand really was as high as it seemed.

If you know that’s when you’re gonna travel you could potentially look at a dedicated week.

I looked at the points charts again and the points do go a lot further at CC if you don’t need the ability to sleep more than 4.

If the Poly is your preferred resort and you're happy with all studios, then buying it resale may be a better option for you than CCV direct. If you really want the direct benefits then Poly direct could be for you. If you plan to travel during times of DVC high demand then it's best to own where you would like to stay, and it sounds like that is the Poly.

Thanks. Let me put this way -- if the poly is at $182, the same as CCV, I will be buying Poly for sure. Now it is at $220, about $40 over CCV. It will cost $40 X 75 pts = $3000 more than CCV direct and even more if I go resale. I am not feeling comfortable to pay $3000 more to get a better location, transportation, view of MK firework, beach and Hawaiian theme.

I can't remember the exact figures, but I do remember CC was going to be quite a bit higher for us (all other things considered) because of dues. Dues add up.


The bigger concern I would have is if 75 Poly would be enough.

I know our reservation in December that we have (lake view studio) during the cheapest DVC time, is 148 points. All depends on how often you want to go.


Or....Chill...cancel the CC contract, rent some points and do a split stay at each and see what you think before making a decision.

$3000 in the scheme of things is relatively small in my opinion if you won't be happy at CCV and regret the decision to not buy at the Poly.

Also consider the point charts. More points per night required at the Poly. It looks like you are buying 75 either way. Does that mean a shorter stay at Poly?
