COP and Timekeeper to be open regularly!

I too hope this is true!!!! I love CoP!!!!! I will miss Alien Encounter, but to have CoP open would make me smile!!! In all my trips, it has only been closed once, so I will be thrilled to go and see it again :)

See a news release or something from Disney or a CM like Safari Steve confirming this good news?:wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

No, sorry. I only know it from here http://www.wdwmagic.com/magic.htm

When Alien Encounter close (sp) on October 11th 2003, Timekeeper and Carousel of Progress will reopen. Time keeper will be open from 10am to 6pm from October 12th onwards. The Carousel will open from park opening to park close from October 12th onwards.

The official Disney site still says open seasonally for CoP. I guess we'll know on Sunday. Maybe someone who is there can check it out. ::yes::

Hopefully this turns out to be true. Haven't seen either for several years since we also go in the off-season. CoP is one of the few things at WDW that Walt actually had a hand in designing.

IMO, AE is ok. It was nice to see once but it lacks a certain amount of "Imagineering".

Someone also asked what the COP was like. Carousel of Progress was an old Walt attraction. The theater is round, you are seated in a section that rotates through several stages. The earlier stages show "progress" such as an ice box and plumbing. Each stage shows an advance in years until "modern" times with computers and microwaves. The characters on the stage are similar in each set, but change to depict the times. Each stage change is to the tune "A Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow". Catchy, my kids have managed to memorize it over the years. Really a don't miss attraction. We have been on it several times when it did glitch in recent years, never happened in the "old days" of the ride. Look for hidden Mickey's!!!! Sadly, the Disneyland version is gone, but Werner Weiss remembers:

Timekeeper is an update of an even older "ride". The audioanimatronics of Robin Williams as the Timekeeper was added to an old "Circlevision" film.

COP & Timekeeper are 2 of my all-time favorites! I haven't seen them in at least 5 years - our recent trips have all been in non-peak times and both attractions have been closed. I am extremely hopeful they will be open in December. :Pinkbounc

COP is one of our family's favorite attractions, too!

If it is "on its last leg", I would love it if they would lift the restriction on videotaping. We would love to capture the expereince before they decide to close the ride permanently. We are the types that follow the rules they lay down before the show.

One of our favorite parts is seeing the 1940's refrigerator - it is identical to the one in our first apartment when we got married 25 years ago. Like seeing an old friend!

I spoke with a CM last night while finishing paying for our trip and verifying reservations and I asked him this quesition. He said hold on and looked at something on the computer and said it was seasonal only. That being said, he may have been just looking on the Dis main website. I have hopes for this since our 5 year old has never seen it.
