Coordinating your kids clothes???

ok, admit it.... does anyone else do this??? I have a 5.5 year old girl and 2 year old boy and I have been thinking about what they could wear each day to coordinate. I am not talking total matchy-matchy, just maybe the same color scheme or coordinating colors to look good in pictures, etc.

Am I a total nut??? I will admit I spend too much time and money on my kids clothes (I even moderate a message board all about gymboree clothing... how sick is that, LOL!!!) but I'm really curious if anyone else does this and if so what outfits have you come up with.

I wish more stores would do the same colors in their boys/girls departments.

I'll go you one more step off the deep end...
my two boys and us (mom & dad) all coordinate! Many days we wear matching t-shirts or at the least coordinating colors. :goodvibes I know some people think this is "sickening", but two things. One, it is practical. It's easier to find each other in lines, etc. when you get separated and more importantly, I feel like if I lose one of my little ones (my 5 year old likes to be a tad more "independent" than I like), I feel like I can just speak up and say "Anybody see a red head in a shirt that looks like THIS! (Thank GOD I've never actually lost him, but it's happened to others, it could happen to me) And now Two...it's just cute! :earboy2: My family doesn't mind and we get lots of attention from others in lines while waiting, CMs, etc.

LOL, I would be one for family dressing too if my DH would go for it!!! He thinks I'm corny just for matching up the kids. :confused3 I try to sneak in some color coordinating when he doesn't realize it. :rolleyes1

Most Definitely! DD 2.5 and DD 5.5 VERY OFTEN match or coordinate! Especially since I love to scrapbook when I have time. My girls wear alot of pink and I've had to hide DH orange shirts!! He always has a shirt that clashes with the girls outfits when I'm taking pictures!!!

I'm guilty. I coordinate my 2 and 5 year olds. I will buy the same outfits, but in different colors. It looks better for photographs (I'm a scrapbooker). You are not alone in your sickness! :rotfl2:

I (the mama) often coordinate my outfits with my two year old son's. Almost all of our coordinating outfits come from Hanna Andersson at www.hannaandersson.com. They have lots of brother/sister, sister/sister and family matching stuff and nothing is too cutsie-poo! Before Christmas, they even get in matching nordic-inspired sweaters.

Have fun!

I usually like my DS (7) and DD (4) to have a couple matching outfits. I have gotten a couple from CWD that had shorts for boys and sundresses for girls that both kids really liked. I think the brand was charlie rocket. I already have the next trip's picked out. They have a wider selection for boys less than size 7. That is my problem w/ gymboree. My DS is in 1st grade but tall. I know my days of picking out clothes is coming to an end. He really likes to wear shirts with dragons. Oh well. fun while it lasted!

Yes, I do that! I color coordinate everyone's clothes (even dh:teeth: ) by the days. I use those wire hangers and hang everyone's tops in the hanging luggage. I save some space by hanging smaller shirts (kids) inside the bigger ones (dad's). When we arrive I put the clothes in the closet and each day everyone knows what we're wearing. There's no time wasted on trying to decide what to wear. Also, as Dopey's Girl wrote:

Another thing I found out; after the trip when all the pictures get mixed up because a little one wants to find Snow White  :scared: , you can re-organize easily because of the matching clothes.:cool1:

Ok. I will admit it. I have ,when DS was younger ,dressed him in clothes that would match the really cool scrapping paper that I already had to go with that trip. It really won't work anymore as DS is almost 13 and almost always has on jeans and a nike or collage team shirt!
At Disney we all wear mathing shirts most of the time. We have several t-shirts and sweat shirts alike and up to last year all enjoyed wearing them. Guessing DS will not go for it next trip. Dressing alike is great as CM's always notice and pay you specail attention. We opend the park once and toontown once. Both times dressed alike!!

DS is an only ,but boy could I have had fun dressing two alike. ENJOY it.

We leave in 2 weeks and my boys will match EVERY day while we are there with my little girl in coordinating colors! It looks good in pictures and plus if I lose one kid I just have to look at the other to know what outfit to look for :rotfl2:

My children usually like to coordinate or match although they don't always. Last year my dd begged for a camo. outfit so she would have something like her brothers.

We had a color of the day while at disney. Things didn't match per se, and often weren't even the same shade, but each day we had a color and all of our shirts were that color.

on a daily basis, however, no, my kids rarely are dressed in anything remotely similar - and i have twins!

I usually buy a few matching t-shirts from the Disney Store for the girls to wear. They are Disney themed, so they are cute, and I like just having to keep track of one outfit and not remember what both are wearing. My girls are 4 and 7.

I am going to put all my kids in the same color for this reason only. When I have the moment of "oh my where is so and so" I know what color to look for. I don't plan on telling DH because he would think it is silly! So to him it will just be a concidence. But, it makes me he feel better.

:rotfl: I was thinking of doing the same thing but also coordinating it to our character meals per se!

We have a Crystal Palace meal, so I thought it would be cute to have the kids wear Pooh & the gang clothes then.

Etc.... That type of thing.

My DH won't go for it, so he would be the odd one out but I know my 11 year old thought it was fun and well the boys just let me pick out their clothes, they don't care. :teeth:

Here's another clothing line I love:

http://justkiddn.com/index.html

Note that is kiddn, not kiddin (some other brand). She makes custom reversible outfits in the most wonderful retro themed fabrics for boys and girls. He boutique with the coolest stuff for bigger girls can be found on ebay by searching ODOD Boutique. Be warned... her stuff is very pricey, but of the highest quality. My son's oldest oufits still look brand new. I even found a fabric that I was in love with (Michael Miller's Retro Rockets) that she did not have listed and she found it and made it custom just for him.

Some people are not into the homemade look, but I think her stuff is tres chic, very earthy-mama botique-y!

My mom always coordinated our clothes on vacations and I plan to do the same with my 2. Reason: We were easier to pick out in a crowd. We were pretty good about stying together and she said it was easier to see us if we coordinated. Plus, I love the pictures of my brother and I in matching outfits in front of Cinderella's Castle.

All 5 of us wear the same color shirt every day we are in a park. I think the kids think it is cool. Our last trip, 3 years ago, Push the talking trash can in MK saw us twice and stated "Hey, there is the orange family again!" The kids LOVED it! Knowing we were planning a trip this summer, last fall I bought tank tops clearanced out for $1-2. Some the boys will wear again, but for that price who cares!

LOL!!! I forgot to mention that too, I have red/white polka dot outfit for dd to wear to Chef Mickeys and I'm trying to pick things for the other meals. So glad to hear I'm not the only one who does these things!!!!!

And I'm so envious of those with 2 kids the same sex, I find it so much harder picking boy/girl coordinates!
