Cooler weather at waterparks, Rashguard vs Shirtless?

We're planning on (hopefully) visiting Typhoon Lagoon next month, if it isn't super cold. Since we figure it'll be definitely be cooler than when we typically visit... Which do you guys think is the best way to stay warmer?
Is it best to wear a rashguard/swimshirt or go shirtless?
I've always gone shirtless at the waterparks previously, but never visited this late in the year. I hear conflicting info that shirts keep the warmth, and I wouldn't want to buy one if it won't do any good.
Anyone have experience to share?

In my experience, rashguards don't keep you warm. Their function is to protect against sun and to keep your skin from chafing (if surfing, for example). I teach swimming lessons in the summer and wear one simply to help prevent sunburn and if there is even a slight breeze or if I get in the shade, I end up shivering, and I'm located in central California where summer temps are regularly in the 100's. They work similar to how sweat cools your body - the moisture in the shirt evaporates and body heat is released into the environment.

for me, dry rashguards keep you warm. But once they are wet they make it colder, especially if it's chilly out.

That makes sense. If the shirt doesn’t do any good once wet, then it sounds like shirtless is still the way to go. Bare skin will dry a lot faster than a wet shirt. Thanks guys.
