Cool things to do Off the beaten Path

I always wanted to go to Jelly Rolls, but they allow smoking inside so we never go in b/c we don't want to smell it (and smell like it!).

I do remember that being an issue. I wish they would make it a non smoking place. It is a lot of fun!

bobbiwoz.......Bob Jackson is great.......we've been several times after 10....all adults usually at that time.....matter of fact, when we've been there with our two sons (27 and 19) who both love Bob's shows, we closed the place at midnight a few times. We also went over to the Gaylord this past January with our youngest son to check out Bob's show at Auggie's Piano Bar.....very different from the show at Disney......think more Billy Joel.......very good also, but, in a different way.

A couple things we do:

- There is a bar in the BWV (really the BWI) accross the little bridge on the lobby. They have some fancy chess and checker sets and other games. I usuallt take my 10 year old son late in the evening and we have a soda and play chess.

- Watching the light boat show from a MK resort beach at night (9-930). VWL works well.

- Taking the boats at the MK around bay lake at night

- A good one for kids. I take the first boat to the fort wilderness, family takes the second. They I plant some some change under the sand at the beach and make and "X" on it (like a treasure). Then tell the kids that I saw a pirate walking down the beach 10 min ago with shovels....you get the idea

- A great place for Kids is the contemporary arcade

- The fire at the AKV outside the main lobby is pretty cool. As well as the night vision by the swimming pool.

- Have drinks at the top of the contemporary (nightly fire works are great"

- The Magic Store in DTD is great. They do demos all day. The only problem is when it is temping to buy when you see something so spectacular. I now own every trick (the card tricks are the best to buy).

He's doing private parties this weekend, and I would be with a bunch of people who could stay up late!!On well!!! I'll get there some other time for a later show. Thanks for the information.

Bobbi:)

Besides Bob Jackson, there's also great live entertainment at POFQ, Eliot Dyson. He used to perform at the Pleasure Island Jazz Club, but now you can hear him for free. He primarily plays sax (although also guitar and a few other things)-lots of Disney songs early in the evening, more jazz later. He's in Scat Cat's lounge.

You know, I've heard Eliot Dyson is very good, also.......we usually only stay out late one evening of the vacation though.....the rest of the time by the time 10:00 p.m. rolls around we're ready for some rest and sleep!!! I definitely will keep Eliot in mind for our January trip since we're all adults (10 or 11 of us) that trip and at least a few will be looking for some evening entertainment after the parks are closed.

I've heard of people going to the town Celebration and really loving it. Any stories? What do you do there?

We really love Disney mini golf. DS says he'd rather play mini golf that do a park. There's a 50% discount with an AP. I like Winterland the best - but DS and DH like Fantasia Gardens the most.

There is a small museum to the original EPCOT in the building that houses the Character Connection.

In the back entrance to Sounds Dangerous at DHS, there are cool interactive games - including ones that let you record your own voice over slips from movies. This was tons of fun, and I did not know it existed.

We started a tradition of fishing at least once during our vacations. The guided tours are great, and you catch huge bass. We also use cane poles from some of the docks (you can bring your own or rent, just make sure it's ok to do at each location).

Ok, this one is actually a path off the beaten path. We love this, especially after dark:

At AK there is a very little used path that goes right under the Tree of Life. I believe it used to be the original queue line for ITTBAB..... Anyway, just go behind the ITTBAB Fastpass machines. There is a narrow opening that kind looks like it doesn't go anywhere..... Follow that opening and you will soon have amazing views of the Tree.... It's a very secluded and romantic spot at night....:goodvibes

The path comes out just past Pizzafari.

(Shh....don't tell anyone)

I agree this is also a wonderful area to explore, so many tree animals!

Also for those that wanted a path from AKL to AK, they will never do it. it is not as close as you think but more importantly the whole area between the two is backstage cast areas so to go around that part the trail would have to be that much longer. Sorry...

I also love this trail. That's where this picture was taken, because there's a point on the path where you walk behind a waterfall-

This really isn't far off the beaten path, but for a different perspective on the "Wishes" fireworks, watch from Fantasyland (I'm partial to sitting on the benches across from Mrs. Potts Cupboard). You probably won't see Tinkerbelle fly, but having the fireworks explode all around you makes for an interesting experience, and less crowded too!

We did this on a recent trip and the only thing I didn't like (we were standing back towards Pinnochio's Village to back of the carousel....we had to keep turning and turning to see them. The smoke was horrible too.

Well this isn't so off the beaten path but we tend to do it every trip now. We usually schedule a dinner ADR for Trails End at FW on a MK day. We all love to take the boat over from MK. The boys love hanging out on the beach, laying in the hammocks. Sometimes we walk around and look at the horses in the barn area too. I just love the "getting away" from it all feeling when we are there. It is a nice retreat and we enjoy the food too. Then somtimes we take another boat so we can visit VWL...especially when we are there in Nov. so we can see the decorations. Then depending on when we eat we might go back to MK to see Spectro/Wishes or use some fast passes we have left. It has become almost a tradition and my dd always asks "are we eating at Trails End?"
