Cool DL travel video

(I posted the following list & info in last year's thread about the Guy Fieri DLR Holiday special on Food Network, but I have updated it a bit, re-organized the list and will post it here in case anyone new to the boards is interested).
________________________________________________________

Just in case anyone wants to look these up - here are assorted Disney park/park food-related shows to search for on the Travel Channel, Food Network, HGTV, Fine Living Network, The History Channel, YouTube, Hulu, Amazon (on DVD), etc. (some DLR-themed, some WDW; I bolded the ones that are Disneyland Resort-specific or that feature good Disneyland segments). There are lots of them, but these are some of the better ones I have seen and compiled into a list:

WDW-specific/and Disney Cruise Line:

"Behind the Bash - Disney's Anniversary Blowout" - Food Network

"Behind the Magic: Disney Holidays" (WDW) - HGTV

"Disney Cruise Line" - Travel Channel

"Disney: On a Dime" - Travel Channel

"Disney's Animal Kingdom" - Travel Channel

"Disney's Best Kept Secret" - Travel Channel

"Disney's Surprise Vacations" - Fine Living Network

"Fan's Guide: Walt Disney World" - Travel Channel

"Holidays at Walt Disney World Resort" (features all the 'food decorations' and edible displays around WDW) - Food Network - Hosted by Raven Symone

"Modern Marvels - Disney World" - The History Channel

"Season of Disney: Disney Splurge!" - Travel Channel

"Ultimate Walt Disney World" - Travel Channel

"Undiscovered Walt Disney World" - Travel Channel

"Unwrapped - Walt Disney World Resort" - Food Network

"Walt Disney World Resort" - Travel Channel

"What You Get for the Money" (WDW) - Fine Living Network

WDW & DLR:

"Disney Holiday Magic/Samantha Brown" - Travel Channel (features footage and mentions of DLR-holiday attractions/events, but is mainly WDW-based)

"Samantha Brown's Disney Favs" - Travel Channel (mainly focuses on WDW, but features some DLR-footage, tips and info as well)

"Unwrapped - Disney Delights" - Food Network (features segments on Club 33 and the bakery at DLR, as well as food segments from WDW)

DLR-specific:

"Disneyland Resort: Behind the Magic" - Travel Channel

"Food Network Challenge - Miley Cyrus' Sweet 16 Birthday Cakes" - Food Network

"Food Network Challenge - Disney Celebration Cakes" (for What Will You Celebrate?) - Food Network.

"Great Hotels - Samantha Brown - Disney's Grand Californian Hotel" - Travel Channel

"Guy's Disney Holiday: Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" - Food Network (hosted by Guy Fieri at DLR; taped in 12/08, aired in 12/09)

"Into the Fire" - Disneyland - (all about dining/restaurants at DLR) - Food Network

________________________________________________________

Samantha Brown did a whole series called "Great Hotels" for the Travel Channel, and aside from the one episode which featured the Grand Californian/DLR, several other episodes featured WDW hotels such as Animal Kingdom Lodge, Grand Floridian, Yacht and Beach Club, etc., etc. She may have even done an episode or two of "Passport to Great Weekends" focusing on DLR or WDW.

Also, there have been various shows about Disney weddings & celebrations at WDW on the Travel Channel and on the WE network ("Disney's Dream Weddings" is one of the WE shows).

Many of the Food Network's "Food Network Challenge" shows focus on making various Disney-themed cakes (Pixar-themed cakes, Villains-themed cakes, etc.) One whole episode of "Dinner: Impossible" was filmed around WDW as well.

If anyone knows of any other Disney-related shows (especially DLR-specific) we can add to this list, please post!!

OOOH Thank you Sherry E!!! :thumbsup2

You're very welcome!:goodvibes I had forgotten I did this list until I saw WonkaKid's thread, so I dug up the old list from my other thread (the Guy Fieri thread), separated the WDW shows from the DLR shows, alphabetized them to make it easier to find things, and plopped them right here.

As we can all see - there is a serious shortage of shows focusing on DLR only in comparison to all the shows about WDW. That's disappointing, but I have to admit I watch all the WDW shows too! I just wish there were more about DLR only.

Thanks so much Sherry! Do you know if any of these are available on DVD?

I am pretty sure that most of them are available - well, maybe 75% of them - on DVD. I remember quite a long time ago, I was looking them up on Amazon (I hadn't thought about YouTube and Hulu until later) and I stumbled upon a bunch of them there. Now, as to what it still available on DVD anywhere remains to be seen, but I think a lot of them were at one point and may still be.

Just found this on Amazon, going to be released on June 1st

Ahhh...interesting, indeed. It appears as though they took 6 of the shows on my list above (all from the Travel Channel) and compiled them into one master 6-DVD set. When I first saw them (and others) on Amazon a long time ago, they were sold individually, not as a set. Very clever, to pack them up together and sell them for one lump price!!

I know for a fact that Samantha Brown's Great Hotels espisodes (including the GCH one) were all sold on DVD at one time - those I remember clearly from Amazon. No clue if they still are sold.

I'm going to order this one:cool1:

I looked for the Grand Californian episode on Amazon and the closest thing I found was the Grand Floridian

I knew I should have snapped up some of them when I saw them on Amazon ages ago! See, what happened was that I had a bunch of shows from the above list on the old DVR I was using (which was a rental from my cable company). When that DVR broke down, I lost all of those shows because they couldn't copy them anywhere. I got another DVR from the cable company and have been able to re-capture many of the shows I lost, but some of those shows that I originally had on the old DVR are no longer in rotation on the Travel Channel or Food Network, etc., so I can't find them anymore. For example, I had several of Samantha Brown's "Great Hotels" Disney-related episodes on the the old DVR (she did a bunch of them on WDW hotels and then the one on the GCH). Gone. When they recently ran 2 or 3 weeks of "Great Hotels" shows on the Travel Channel, none of them included the Disney-related ones so I could re-record!!

Also, "Holidays at Walt Disney World Resort" with Raven is one that I had on the old DVR and now it's gone forever. That was one of my absolute favorites, but Food Network hasn't re-run that show for the last two holiday seasons. So it has not aired since the holiday season of 2007 and I don't see it on DVD anywhere!!

So I guess the moral of the story is...either get a TiVo (instead of a cable company DVR rental) so you won't lose your programs like I did, OR if you see that any of your favorite Disney-related shows are available on DVD (or maybe in some cases, there might be some old VHS copies floating around on Ebay), buy them right then and there!! You may not get another chance!

OMG! I had this on my DVR for a long time but accidentally deleted it! Thank you so much! I'll put it on my TV via my Playstation 3 tonight to get ready for our upcoming trip. :goodvibes
