I am finally ready to invest in some new cookware. I have a Cuisinart Dutch Oven and I really like it and paid $50 for it.

I really love the way Le Creuset looks and the reviews are really great. But then I look at the price tag and I'm just not sure if it's worth it. :confused3

Any opinions are appreciated !

I have a Le Creuset Dutch Oven. It's great but I have other, cheaper Dutch Ovens that I really like. I have one from Ikea's 365 line that I actually like a little more than the Le Creuset.

I guess it just depends on what pieces you are buying. I would not want a whole set of things made of enameled cookware.

TJ Maxx and Home Goods carry Le Creuset at a deep discount for whatever reason (the coloring was off, discontinued stock) so I would look for a few nice pieces there to try out before making a full price commitment to an entire line of cookware.

I have quite a few pieces of Le Creuset including a wok, cast iron skillet, dutch ovens, braisers and two roasters. I love all of them and use them for many things. However, cooking with them is different and you have to get used to them. Also, there are still things that I need either my non stick caphalon or my stainless steel pieces for.

That being said, I would try to buy them at an outlet. Most of the stuff at the outlets are not really damaged, but sometimes colors that are on clearance, etc. I have found some real deals there and that way you can add pieces one at a time as you see the need.

I think Staub compares well to Le Cresuet, I like both brands, especially when gifted to me. When I'm paying I buy the Lodge brand, it's much cheaper and I'm just as happy.

I will be in Hilton Head in a few weeks and I believe Le Creuset has an outlet there. I will also check TJ Maxx and Marshalls.

I only want a few pieces and I really want a braiser with a glass lid.

My oldest daughter and her husband really like to cook and I may get them something too for their birthdays in July.

I've got a few pieces of Le Creuset that I've had since I started buying them in 1985. They last forever, so to me, they are investment pieces and I use the dickens out of them. If you add a piece occasionally it doesn't bankrupt you, and they really are fantastic.

Ok guess I am going against the grain. I love my Staub!!!! I cook a lot for us and family events and love my Staub.

I'm not ruling Staub out Where did you get it?

Most of my pieces I got at William & Sonoma. I waited for sales and signed up for their emails for discounts. I just bought DIL the large cast iron pre seasoned skillet for less than $100, it was priced at $225 originally.

I was just going to mention that Williams-Sonoma often has very good sales. Just sign up for their emails and you'll get the notifications.

Some of their sales are awesome. Waiting for the next one, I am gifting DIL good cookware. Next is the large Dutch oven. She is SAHM, they live on DS's income so not a lot for extras & upgrades.

I think staub is better quality than le Creuset but it probably depends on what you buy. I have one staub and maybe 6 pieces of le creuset? Based mostly on the fact that LC goes on sale more often here. I love my staub though and would add if allowed in budget.

I've found- and this may just be me- but le creuset pieces that I really use are the Dutch ovens. I use the frying pans for things that cook better in cast iron occasionally BUT GENERALLY, the pans that I end up using the most are the lighter weight high quality nonstick- I love my scanpans the most. They are much easier to handle and clean. They go in the oven like cast iron does.
