Posted this on the cooking board, thought I'd try here too.

I'm cooking a recipe that calls for white wine, all I have is cooking sherry. Think this will be okay or should I run to the grocery real quick?

Thanks!!!

Run to the grocery store. If you can't drink it, don't use it. Cooking sherry can tend to be salty. Use a good white wine, you'll taste the difference. :)

Not sure what your cooking but I would skip the sherry or go to the store.

The basic rule of thumb when it comes to adding any type of alcohol be it wine or not is; If you can't drink it then don't add it. Good luck and I hope your meal turns out delicious!

Thanks everyone, just ran to the liquor store...
