I tried searching online and can't seem to find an answer. Does anyone know if I can bring pastries/cookies on the plane? I am taking a trip and wanted to stop at the bakery to bring our friends some NYC treats but don't want to have to toss them at security. TIA.

When Krispy Kreme first showed up here in Chicago I brought a whole dozen box onboard....received a combination of angry stares and jealous looks:lmao: I just flew where someone brought leftover burritos in tupperware!:scared1: Pastry should be no problem

Just sent our DS back to college with a container of gingerbread cookies in his carry-on. He had no problem. (I had the same concern.)

I think it will not create any further obstacles but still I think it is a long shot. I heard a news sometimes back ago that some airlines did not even allow a lady to fly since she was not wearing appropriate clothes. It's all upto them, sometimes and we don't have a say in that.

Is this a serious answer? TSA sets the rules for what gets through security, not the airlines. Why would cookies cause a problem? They aren't a liquid or a dangerous device.

OP, cookies are fine. So are jelly doughnuts (and cakes, pies, etc.).

Thanks all. Maybe I will bring some extra cookies incase I have to offer to security. :thumbsup2

I always carry on a box of goodies from goofy's candy shop on my way home

Airlines have the prefect right to control who boards their planes. Inappropriate clothing can be a reason for refusal to allow boarding.
TSA regulates what is brought on board, not the airline. Two different things.

Airlines have no say as to what makes it through security...only the TSA does.

To the best of my knowledge, cookies and pastries are still okay. BUT...be careful...those TSA know when food goes through and they do like their treats!!!! I always get some kind of snappy comment from them when I have food in my carryon!!!!

Every time we fly to Orlando, I take some sort of baked goods for my elderly mom who lives nearby, always in my carryon. I've taken pound cakes, cookies, brownies, lemon bars, etc. - all with no problem. The only time I ever got stopped was once at Christmas when I was taking her a whiskey cake - all the TSA agents wanted a whiff!! :rotfl:

You can always check www.tsa.gov for current information. That being said, we have brought cookies, donuts, candy, and crackers through the TSA checkpoints numerous times---no issues.

Two experiences...
1. We had celebrated my dd's 13th birthday the day prior to our departure from WDW. We didn't come close to finishing the beautiful, not to mention very expensive, cake I had ordered. So, the GF boxed it up wonderfully and I put it into my carryon bag...perfect fit. Well, I went through security easily. My carryon?? Not so much. The TSA people kept it going back and forth, through the scanner. They just couldn't figure out what the heck was in there. They called over to another area to get new eyes on it. That guy came over, watched it go through. He asked me if I had a wheel of cheese in my carryon!! No, just my dd's unfinished birthday cake. They all howled!!! And asked if there was enough for everyone!!!

2. Flying out of Worcester Mass, way back when that was still an option. I had all my fish extender gifts in my carryon bag...about 90 of them total. All in little baggies..full of candies and little gifts. Well, the TSA guy was really interested in that bag...seems he could smell the chocolate!! Asked if I had any extras to share with him!!!! It really was kind of funny.
