Hi. Disney cruise vets here. We are on a streak of 10 straight Palos spanning from Magic, to Fantasy, to Dream. Last year, we posted here on this very board the case to switch and try Palo - thanks to all who replied. We did switch, but then switched back and enjoyed our 10th Palo last year. Here we are one year later in our run down to cruise. We love fine dining, but aren't huge fans of French. We prefer dirty martinis to red wine. We love our Palo - the preliminary course, the carpacio, the grilled shrimp, share the ciopinno, love the osso bucco, or tuna, or steak, and of course the soufle is legendary - but we are now running 10 years in a row...

Convince us to switch? Or stay the course and continue with the same thing that I am sure we will love?

Palo has some new things on the menu. My wife and I aren't sophisticated enough for Remy, nor does their heavy focus on the French menu interest us. So I doubt we will ever go. +1 for Palo.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it :)

Clearly Remy is not for you, if after ten cruises you haven't tried it yet. Stick with Palo

You'll never know if you don't give Remy a try. I've been to several restaurants better than Palo, but very few that compare to Remy.

If you can afford it, try it. We always do brunch and dinner at palo. On the last cruise we added a dinner at remy. While the food was fantastic we really didn't enjoy it at the price it cost. We're sticking to Palo from now on, but we appreciated the experience and we're glad we tried it.

Thanks for the responses so far - we also discovered that we just hit Platinum and as a result Palo is free - this will reinforce that we just stay the course - so perhaps our mind is made up.

Also, we only have a 4 day cruise so really, we only have time for 1 Palo as we want to spend the other times with our son in the MDR.

Remy is magnificent. I'm a picky eater didn't know if I would like it. But went there for our 20th anniversary. First I hate fish told the waiter that and he suggested the dishes I should get. Everything I had was great. Second my wife is vegetarian and all hers were great also. I probably won't be back for a while. Mainly the $$$. Second I don't like wearing a suit. But the food was excellent.

We have done Palo on the Magic and just did Remy (and a Palo brunch) on the fantasy. For my money... Stick with palo. Compared to other tasting menus we've had, it was noticable that it was a tasting menu designed by a top quality chef, and not a tasting menu prepared by a top quality chef.

It was good. Some courses were great. It wasn't up to my expectations for a tasting menu. The wine pairing, however, was fantastic.

Thanks - with the money factor and as alluded, Palo will be free - that will drive us towards Palo - and if Remy requires suits that probably is another Palo confirmer for us as well....

Just off of the Fantasy a couple of weeks ago ....

the Palo dinner menu has "changed". The items are mostly the same, but many are prepared differently. One of the soups was the most obvious - was chicken broth based vs creamy. Our server explained all of the changes (there were many)

Food was great (as well as the company)

This is good to hear. My bf and I love fine dining but both of us have a few dining preferences and I was worried Remy was a set menu with no choices.

I agree that if you have never been to Remy you should try it sometime, but it surely doesn't have to be on your next upcoming cruise where you get Palo free as Platinum CC. :sunny:

We did Remy for the very first time almost a month ago on the Dream. It was an exceptional experience. But we ended up dropping some MAJOR league bucks. I mean WAY over the $89pp fee (or is it $85??). Just be forewarned that if they have "special" offerings like they did for us, that $85pp plus tip can skyrocket. For us it was black truffle season and they had an entire specialty menu with black truffles. If you chose the special truffle courses dinner it was an extra $250 up charge. Yes. On top of the $89. You could choose any one of the truffle courses off that special menu for an additional $75 for the one course. Very, very pricey but then, so are black truffles and I can honestly say I have NEVER, ever had so much black truffle on any one plate in my life. If budget is not an issue, happily order the Matsuzaka beef and black truffles. But if you don't want to drop a bankroll just be careful to order off the main menu.

No matter what you decide, enjoy Ps17! We love, love Palo. And we did enjoy the new menu. Have fun!
