Convince Me About Soarin'

Hi folks!

I know as a DISer, I'm supposed to love everything about Disney
but there is one ride I just don't understand the appeal of. Every time I'm at the Land, I kind of shrug it off (yes, my fiancee tries to get me to pull a fp for it every time but I always somehow have an excuse). That ride is Soarin'.

So, while I'm planning my World Disneymoon, convince me to work to get a fp+ for this ride. Or conversely, praise me for my daring to be different. Your third option is to reassure me that my fps and my fiancee's fps don't have to be linked so I can get him on the ride and then go visit Figment. :cloud9:

Thanks!

Feels kinda like flyin'. Not sure there's much more to it.

I assume you've actually ridden it, but from your post that is not clear. If you haven't ridden it, do. If you have ridden it and were meh, then skip it. But Figment over Soarin'? You would definitely be a bit different. (Praise be.)

I love Soarin. But if you have been on it and don't, just do different rides! You can both have fun and meet right back up after. N

Have you been on the ride? If you haven't, I'd say try it and make an informed decision. If you have and didn't like it then don't worry what others think!

I love soarin. I love the feeling of flying over all of the scenes. Since you will be on your honeymoon maybe just this one time go on the ride to make your future spouse happy.

It's basically a ski chair lift into an omni max movie screen. They then can move you around (tilt back and forth and side to side). Plus they have a scent box.

The appeal in not sure of. Its neat but it's not 180-240 minute wait time neat.

Honestly I don't get "hey look its only 4 hour wait time lets go."

These wait times are generally seen only a small handful of days a year. Also, I'm happy to let others make such a poor call, but that is their call.

I would ride it once just because you have not I'm assuming.

That said I find the ride "meh" I will never get the huge draw I think it's just the lack of rides in FW honestly. I enjoy MS and see it as a E-Ticket ride where most only think of TT and Soarin when they think E ticket and Epcot.

If they redid Soarin's film and made it "Soaring over Florida" in HD it would help the ride IMO.

I can't tell if the OP has actually tried Soarin' and didn't find it interesting, or has never tried it.

If the first is correct, then how about getting a FP anyway and letting their spouse ride twice? If its the second, then in the interest of marital harmony alone, go on the attraction and give it a fair shake. :groom:

Soarin over FL would be boring! Here's a beach, another beach, now we're soaring over a cows, here's a swamp...and the finally MK!

CA is so much more diverse than FL so it works but IMO FL doesn't offer enough "scene changes" to make it work for its own standalone feature.

I will encourage you to avoid the things you don' like and embrace the things you do. Should make for a much happier vacation.

Should you decide on your own, without needing convincing that you want to give it another shot, I encourage it because the ride is one of the best in Epcot.

They could do the Everglades, than south beach/Miami, St. Augustine, Go to to the pan handle too see some of the bayous....

A screw it I'm grasping for straws, your right, as a born and raised Floridian you got it beaches and swamps is the extent of our interesting geography lol. Maybe just do a lot of soaring over WDW.

The appeal of Soarin' is due to the lack of any other exciting rides at Epcot aside from TT. It's the same reason the mountains at MK routinely have long wait times. For those that like thrills (A huge portion of theme park goers) these are their only options.

Oh also, Soarin is totally awesome :D

I love it enough that I have the music on my IPod and I listen to the music everyday while I work out. I will even hit the back button to listen to the music 2 or 3 times.

LoL! I lived there a long time. My wife is from S FL, my kids were all born in FL!

Perhaps its because there's not much left to be excited about in Epcot but Soarin' is one of our favorites...I was a big fan of the original Journey into your Imagination but don't like the new version...Sorry!

That said...Most of Future World can now be skipped for us...My kids like TT but they do Single Rider option as we don't all ride and enjoy. We all do Space Ship Earth because it's the signature Epcot ride but really feel that whole Future World area needs a major redo...oh, and husband insisted we do Universe of Energy last visit...great rest and nap time for most of us! Nothing has changed there!

We enjoy dining at the various countries and we will be there before Christmas and go see Candlelight Processional and use the dining package. Not much to get excited about there any more...SAD...

I thought Sourin' was bourin'. They hang you in the the air and show you a grainy movie. Shake you about a bit. I would never stand in line for more than a couple minutes and then only if the person I was with really wanted to go on it.

There's certainly nothing wrong with not caring for a popular ride. That's what I love about WDW. There's something for everyone. Soarin' used to be a better ride when the screen quality was better. It really does need an upgrade. My DH says it's close to the feeling of parasailing without the risk. We also like it because of our lover for the beauty of California. We've had several memorable trips to Northern California.

We love soarin, I like the gentle flying sensation.... And I love that you can smell the trees, oranges and ocean!

Some clarity for everyone, just cause I can.

I have not ridden Soarin' yet, and soon to be DH doesn't see it as a dealbreaker. If fp or standby time is 10 minutes, I could be inclined but I've seen IMAX Star Wars, so I can't imagine how impressed I'm going to be by an in-flight advert for California with scents and movement.

That being said, I can't imagine how Star Tours is not 10x better than Soarin', for the person that was dissing ST earlier (or did I imagine that? I can't imagine anyone not liking ST, one of the versions possibly but not the whole of ST...)

I like cows (not the smell) and I'd probably be more inclined to visit Soarin' Over My Hamburger (or some such thing like that).

I could probably spend a day and a half just in Innoventions and I have a history of riding ToT to the point of obsession...so do with that what you will.
